Review Time
I ordered a book to be delivered to my son in Australia. It was late, and I was given an revised delivery date. It didn't arrive so after waiting to see if it was delayed due to postal issues, I chased it up, and there were a few more email exchanges with this company and eventually i was told out of the blue that there was a 30-day limit for refunds and that the limit had expired. Not a satisfactory solution at all.
Overpriced terrible quality book. Was listed as Good. It had been through multiple libraries and all left stickers, tape and permanent stamps in multiple places. They claim is was listed as a former library book which it was NOT. The same books are still on the site, NOT listed as library books for less money than I paid. I paid shipping and they expect me to pay to return and only refund the book price so it would cost almost as much as the price and I would have NO book. Will never purchase again.
The book was listed as "Very Good." It smells so bad my kids won't touch it. The cover is torn. Pages are torn. There is obvious water damage on the bottom of the pages. One entire stitched section is about to fall out. This place is NOT someone I will buy from again, and I do not recommend it for anyone else.
I purchased a book categorized by their website as "good condition". The binding was bent and torn. The pages were badly yellowed and it smelled as if it had been in a moldy basement for years. When you attempt to contact them, the response is they are busy and will get back to you sometime. If you choose to return it, there is a cost involved. Very disappointed - Update - The company just issue a refund.
I had one of the best shopping experiences with BetterWorldBooks! The book i ordered arrived exactly on the date they estimated it would, it's in great condition and everything went smooth. I was slightly sceptic as it is my first order with them, but judging by this experience, i will happily continue ordering with them. Especially since each book we purchase, they donate a book to someone in need. A great purpose and i will gladly keep supporting this organization. Keep up the great work!!!
Ordered two books labeled as "Used - Very Good with Library Markings", however both arrived damaged (torn covers, stained pages, etc.). What's worse is one had a sticker covering the damage. BWB customer service is near non-existent with a message stating that a response will be delayed. There's absolutely no quality control as far as I can see. What a waste.
I ordered a book from this company but they sent a different book than what was listed on the website. The cover picture of the book and the title of the book that they represented was not what I received. They sent a book by the same author but that's about it. When I reached out to Better World Books, they stated that I should always go by the ISBN number of the book (which was not anywhere on the website for me to even check) and that the images that they use are stock photos so they may not always match the exact cover or edition that I would receive. I'm sorry, when you show a book cover and state the title of the product that you are selling-why would I have to then do research on the internet to make sure I'm getting what I'm ordering? They did end up refunding me but I would rather have gotten what I had actually ordered.
I generally order nicely discounted new books and rarely order used books. However, I happened to stumped upon Better World Books in searching for a particular travel book. From there, incentivized by offers, I was able to combine offers to get an additional discount and free shipping and bring the average cost per book down to $5 per book. Some of those books were donated by libraries and listed as in Very Good condition. Well, the books that I received truly was in at least Very Good condition, nearly excellent. So I am happy to write this review. Your experience may not be turn out as well, but it's sure nice for a blind purchase to work out well once in a while! =)
