Hello,Better World Books appears to have made a lot of people happy by the number of good reviews, I truly wish I had been one of them. Last week I purchased a book through Amazon, sold by Better World Books (Mishawaka), 55740 Currant Road, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545. The book is for a friend, I have my own copy from years ago.The book is covered in mold(see photos) and smelling badly. The book is in such bad condition that I took the photo of it on the hood of my car and tossed the book into the garbage can next to the Publix supermarket. No way was I going to bring it into my home, let alone gift it to someone.This is not my first disappointment in a product, I doubt it will be my last.The question that I hope someone from Better World Books asks the retailer in Mishawaka is, “ What the h@ll were you thinking when you placed this book into a shipping envelope?”
I ordered a number of books, maybe 10. I received an email confirming the purchase and it tied to what I bought. Then when I received the order, there was included a book I never heard of. It was a bargain book, but still I did not order it. I went to look at my "bill" and the book was on there. I wrote an email to complain and they said to send it back on my shipping nickle. This really angered me. I suspect this might be the way they operate. The title seemed to fit into the types of books I bought. However, the book was titled 50 Shades of Chicken - a parody of a cookbook featuring bondage with chicken recipes. I do not have a sense of humor and never saw that book before. Please be careful of what you order from this company.
I did not receive a book for 6.50 from them that I ordered on ebay. After 15 days I still had not received the book.i contacted them and they told me to wait 3 more days to contact them. They refused to look into it. This is the WORST place to order a book. They do not care about readers and are so greedy that they refuse to give a 6.50 refund.
You cannot get a hold of anyone at this company. I placed an order - put down the wrong address - immediately contacted them by phone, email etc - no one answers anywhere in any language that makes any sense - and the books are being shipped to a place i am not at and they had ample time to correct or at least warn their customers. these guys have good prices but customer service is worse than dreadful
