Car rented via Booking.com with Budget at Brussels Airport. During the booking and payment process, it was nowhere clearly stated that a boarding pass is required to collect the car. The confirmation only mentioned the voucher, ID, driver’s license, and credit card.
At the counter, the car was refused because I did not have a boarding pass. The result: no car and only a partial refund.
If a boarding pass is mandatory, this should be clearly visible before payment — not hidden in lengthy terms and conditions. This feels non-transparent and unfriendly to customers. Be aware of this before booking.

I had similar bad experience to others with budget/avis at this airport location. They tried to scam us and pin damages on us that we didn't do. Provided pictures that were blurry and don't prove anything. Even after a few email exchanges, they still maintained that the damages were our responsibility. Do not rent from them, you can take a chance and maybe all will go well for you, but there's also a good chance they'll be pinning thousands of dollars of damages and charging your credit card.
The worst experience ever. From the start to the end.Renting car should be stress free. But not with this company. We paid through broker. We asked for luxury car. When went to collect they told us that they have nothing to do with broker. We weren't able to get a car we paid for. Well they said if we pay 2500€ deposit on it by American express and another 500€ by other car then we can have it. It's their policy while broker didn't mention anything like that. When asked to get money back they said to contact the broker. There was no phone number to even ring the broker. After frustration we got a small car and never seen remaining money back.As the lowest class car is cheaper to rent than luxury car we lost money plus they took 200eu deposit.In the end while returning the car we didn't fill up the tank. We were charged twice as much. Instead €2 per litre we were charged €4.Never ever rent a car from them. If you want have a pleasant stay there avoid that company. Pity we didn't read any reviews. As we never thought it could be so complicated. We travelled a lot and never had a hassle renting a car in Europe
Giving 1 star as unfortunately 0 is not possible.We had a small accident during our rental, filled in all the insurance papers in which it was quite clear the other party was the responsable one. They charged me the expenses for fixing the damage, which is fine as they already had informed me they would until the insurance would intervene. Now after 4 months they still have not reimbursed my money, nor have given any details on the state of the insurance claim, just hat it "might take some time" .I sincerely doubt the insurance firm would take so long to confirm the responsibility on a very straightforward accident.They are just holding on to the money.Very disappointed
Rented a car at Budget - Charleroi airport, Belgium. Picked up the car late evening (11pm) in the garage, poor lightning, without any assistance of Budget staff. The car was perfect and no dammage was to be seen apparently. On returning the car 2 days later, the man in charge of reception went directly on his knies to look underneath the car and claimed 190 Euros for dammaged spoiler. No way you could see this on collecting the car. Took pictures of the car on delivery and no way you could see any dammage. As well this review does not download pictures to share. Looks like a scam to me!!!
After several e-mails I have finally received the missing miles.I had to write several e-mail to Budget Belgium, Budged Australia and some other e-mail address and also several e-mails to Miles and More.Very time consuming for a small quantity of miles.Several e-mails sent and yet no miles received on my Miles and More account after almost three months after the 5 days rent with Budget.This is not acceptable.Incompetence or fraud!
Rented a Mercedes C class car. Got a completely different one, than I asked for and it was a hybrid. I was planning on doing a lot of mileage, and hybrids don't do well on the German highway, tried explaining the clerk about my issues. He neither wanted to refund me nor help me get another car. Really dissatisfied. The rent was smooth though, happy with the pricing and the service. Just please be better at giving us the car we rent and the service we demand. I had no time to stand around and argue with a robot-like shopkeeper, so I had to accept the terms and take of in a Toyota CHR. Not nice.....
I booked my car for 4 days for 150 EUR in Brussels air port, after returning the car about an hour late, they charged me for an additional day another 90 EUR!! so I told them if I anyway need to pay for another day, let me use the car for another day, and they refused! after going up to the desk complaining, nothing helped and I found them to be the opposite of friendly...
