Review Time
This company auto renewd my liscence for nearly double the price online. It was not due to expire for 34 days and I found a charge on my credit card - no email no explanation. Contacting the company is impossible. I used their chat function told me the wait time was a few minutes - after 20 I gave up and had a chargeback issued via my credit card company. This is pure credit card fraud. The product itself is decent however, I would only recommend this product to folks - I dont like.
Very deceptive company. They make it extremely difficult to manage your subscription. It is a professional tactic to prevent you from cancelling. Just trying to contact this company is impossible. There is no easy way to contact them, no email links, chat will open but never connect to an agent. Good luck trying cancel and manage your personal info, such as credit card info. I have been trying for 2 months to talk to a real person and no luck.
I have used ccleaner for over a decade and valued it. However, I have removed this software from every computer in my home network because without my permission, it installed a new version that is unsavory and cannot be trusted. Prior to the update on the software, I would have rated this a 5. This new version is garbage and I highly recommend you not use it.
I purchased CCleaner Professional on 24/12/2012 as a one-time purchase. The invoice and the order confirmation email did not state anywhere that the license was time-limited, that it was valid for one year, or that it was a subscription. There were no terms such as “subscription”, “renewal”, or “expiration”.
The software continued to work for approximately 13 years and received regular updates, without any warning about license expiration or any request for renewal. Based on both the documentation provided at the time of purchase and the behavior of the product itself, I had a reasonable expectation that the license was permanent for the purchased product.
When I contacted customer support in 2025, I was informed that the license was allegedly a one-year license. At the same time, the company acknowledged that invoices and order confirmation emails from that period did not always clearly state the license duration, and that the software continued to function due to the way license enforcement worked at the time.
I do not claim that I have proof that the license was a “lifetime” license. However, there is also no documentation from the time of purchase that clearly shows the license was limited to one year. I believe that reinterpreting the license terms more than a decade later is unfair to the customer.
Extremely disappointing tool. I intended to uninstall a single application, but it resulted in the deletion of essential registry keys, disrupting Windows Search, and uninstalling several programs without any proper notification or permission. My Windows setup is now significantly compromised. This software has caused much more damage than it fixed. Stay away.
I recently purchased the pro version and encountered several issues with the new features:
The browser is entirely malfunctioning, preventing me from completing banking tasks for work and accessing our email server.
Spreadsheet software is also not functioning correctly, hindering my ability to perform my job.
Email application appears to have reverted to an earlier version.
Additionally, the necessary codes are not being received.
The service is charging me for two subscriptions and has provided no solutions or refunds for this mistake. I've been trying to resolve this for months, but support has been unhelpful. I will not use them again and have canceled all accounts to avoid being charged twice next year.
It’s impossible to get in touch with anyone regarding a refund. The contact form seems to be set up to respond with "we think you are a robot," forcing you to restart the process repeatedly, only to encounter the same issue. I suspect this service may be a scam.
I would rate it even lower if possible. I chose the Portable version to avoid installation altogether and took additional steps by blocking the app in my firewall to stop updates. However, the app managed to bypass all my precautions. On its second launch, it updated to Version 7 and installed itself on my system without any consent. This is entirely unacceptable. Forcing an installation without an obvious installer or UAC prompt feels predatory and resembles malware behavior. It's a significant violation of trust. There have been longstanding accusations against the developers regarding malware in their app, and after this incident, I firmly believe that this software is not secure. If it can circumvent firewall settings and install itself without a UAC prompt, what else is it doing behind the scenes? Additionally, it silently added a file named SkipUAC - User to my Windows>System32 without my approval. If you care about your privacy and want to manage what gets installed on your computer, I strongly recommend avoiding this software.
The latest version is quite frustrating. It feels like bloatware and is overly complicated to navigate. I used to suggest this tool for my students' computers, but now I will advise them to REMOVE this new version. If something works fine, there's no need to change it. This app keeps bombarding users with pop-ups urging them to upgrade to paid features. Many other users share similar sentiments online.
