I’m having a huge trouble because of Costa. Me and my girlfriend booked a Costa Favolosa cruise starting from Buenos-Aires. We took a 20.000 km air trip to Argentina to board a ship. While we were flying, Costa CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION! We arrived to Buenos-Aires and received a notification: we no longer have tickets to the ship. Now we are in Argentina with no means to return!
Why did Costa cancel our tickets? I paid 80% of ticket cost, and 20% remained unpaid. Last day before our flight Costa manager wrote me: ‘Please pay 20% remaining’. I answered: ‘Yes, I’ll pay soon, can I pay with paypal?’ Then we boarded a plane. Costa guys did not answer me about paypal. They just cancelled our tickets!
It was still 20 days before cruise. More than enough time for me to pay 20%.
And the worst. Costa did not refund 80% of ticket price already paid by me! THEY CANCELLED TICKET AND DID NOT RETURN MONEY!
Why so? Maybe, because I paid with voucher. But voucher was not free! Voucher had it’s price! In 2021 I bought a cruise to Singapore, it was cancelled because of COVID, and Costa gave me this voucher as a refund. Later I paid cruise from Argentina with this voucher. Now Costa cancelled my booking – and did not return the voucher’s price!
I simply don’t believe that’s happened. Costa left us in Argentina with no tickets and no money!
We had booked a cruise with them on December 8 and it was horrible! Bad service! Lots of discrimination and harassment! ( we filed a complaint! ) we left the cruise earlier and got even harassed when leaving! Avoid this like a plague! That’s our tip as US and Spanish travelers!

As an experienced cruiser, I find it hard to understand the negative reviews. This is an Italian ship, so if you prefer British-style cruising, this isn't for you. This trip was as enjoyable as my previous 25 cruises, some of which cost twice as much. Personally, I appreciated the change of pace and found it much better than other lines. Every cruise has its pros and cons; it ultimately depends on personal preference. Make sure to research before booking any cruise.
I traveled on this ship recently and had a troubling experience at one of the restaurants that significantly affected my perception of the cruise line. During a snack service, a waiter abruptly cleared a plate from my girlfriend without asking if she was finished. This rude behavior was repeated with other guests as well. When I sought to report this, he left the area, making matters worse. A supervisor later addressed the situation, but it failed to resolve the core issue of disrespectful service. Throughout the cruise, I noticed ongoing lapses in courtesy and hygiene, such as dirty tables and poor food quality. This does not reflect the standard the cruise line promotes. I formally complained while on board but received no meaningful response afterward. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this cruise line to anyone expecting basic respect and service.
I will never choose this cruise line again. The service was appalling, and the food was merely average, often cold. If you're not Italian, be prepared for everything to be in Italian. The crew seems to have poor working conditions, and everything incurs additional charges, including water. We were constantly pushed to purchase upgrades and extras. We booked an English-speaking excursion, but the tour was conducted in Italian, leading to a frustrating experience. The overall atmosphere was rude and unpleasant. I was shocked by the lack of courtesy from fellow passengers. We were so unhappy we left the ship early. If you're considering a cruise, heed these warnings and choose another line.
Thank you for the worst travel experience I've ever had. The staff were either rude or completely unhelpful, and I felt disrespected as a non-Italian guest. I urge anyone who isn't Italian or doesn’t speak the language to avoid this cruise line. The decor was unappealing, the food was consistently lukewarm, and the drink options were limited and expensive. Excursions were poorly managed, leading to distressing experiences. I cannot recommend this company; spend your money elsewhere.
After reading the reviews, I thought it couldn't be that bad. Now that I'm back from the cruise, I assure you it is. The cons are numerous: a persistent sewage smell in parts of the ship, inconsistent toilet functionality, and a buffet lacking nutritious options. The tour desk was unhelpful and often spoke in a language I couldn't understand. I would give fewer stars if I could. I have no intention of ever traveling with this cruise line again.
From an American perspective, I can share both pros and cons. The balcony room was decent, but the food was as bad as others have mentioned—bland and often cold. The entertainment was not enjoyable, especially since I didn’t understand most of it. Service was lacking, with few staff available to assist. There were no complimentary drinks available, and the limited drink stations were often broken. This experience was far from what I expected, and I would rate it zero stars if I could.
