Delta Dental Insurance is worthless in central Virginia! I called their 800 sales number and asked if my dentist was covered and told yes. I signed up online and gave my credit card infomation and paid each month beginning in December 2025. I just found out their policy only covers their "approved" dentists and after calling several on their "approved list" most of them in my area are not accepting new patients. I tryed to upgrade my policy "not allowed" until next year.? Then I tryed to cancell the policy and that isn't allowed. We had their insurance years ago and I didn't check their google reviews (my mistake). Please do not trust this company!
I find the service inadequate as I am living abroad and have coverage from a previous employer. All claims must be submitted via mail as online submissions are not permitted. Each claim I send costs me between $30-$50 to mail from my current location. I am already planning to switch to another provider that accepts claims through their online portal.
The customer service and website experience have been incredibly disappointing. Nothing gets resolved efficiently. For every issue, you're directed to a different phone number—questions about the web portal? Call this number. Problems with a bill? Call that number. Issues with the mailing address? Yet another number to call. Additionally, the website frequently crashes, whether accessed via phone or laptop. Trying to get assistance can take anywhere from 7 to even 30 business days for a potential resolution. I can't be the only one facing these challenges.

You're redirected to various numbers for different problems—one for web portal issues, another for billing, and yet another for address changes. In January ’24, my spouse initiated a dental insurance policy solely for wisdom teeth removal, having no other dental needs. After paying the first installment and setting up automatic payments, the first payment never processed. Following a serious health issue, my spouse was unable to utilize the insurance and never received a membership number. Despite claims of multiple communications from the provider, we received nothing. When we sought a refund, the representative offered no assistance. After escalating the issue, we were met with a refusal for a refund due to non-payment, despite no notifications about payment issues. The lack of communication is appalling, and I advise against using this service.
I am very dissatisfied with how my recent dental claim was processed. The denial for a necessary crown procedure due to it being deemed cosmetic was both unexpected and financially taxing. I was never informed that such a determination could occur, and the overall lack of transparency and support has been unacceptable. This experience has made me question the reliability of their coverage policies. I recommend others to thoroughly review their plan details before relying on this provider.
The payouts for covered procedures are consistently much lower than stated. Cleanings are supposed to be fully covered, yet they pay less than half. Crowns are meant to be partially covered, but they pay under 20%. I’ve decided to go without insurance and pay out of pocket, as the savings are not worth the monthly fees.
