Raisin, an entirely online banking service, makes it extremely difficult to withdraw the funds I unfortunately deposited with them. They want a statement from my current checking account, which I sent them. Now they want a statement for an account that was closed two years ago, which I cannot obtain. In addition two these two statements, they want me to get a notarized proof of my identity and snail mail it, along with a form, to their headquarters. They give no clue before opening the account that it is next to impossible to withdraw my money. I have had numerous bank accounts since the advent of online banking. Never have I experienced anything like the extraordinary documentation required by Raisin to withdraw my money, including documentation from an account that has been closed nearly two years. I have never had to snail mail a notarized identity document. These are not required by banking standards. They are obfuscating ways of holding money hostage.
The app is really great. It's so user-friendly since it can scan the ISBN, the most reliable way to search for the book and its information, and It quickly gives a buyout price. My only discontent is that it doesn't take ALL the books, and the buyout prices are so low that one needs to scan a large amount of inventory to achieve the $8.00 buyout minimum. I will continue to use this app.
It took them weeks to process my payment for my first book ,and I was told there was a mistake on there end. I was not happy but at least they took responsibility that is why I gave them another chance and so I traded with them again. The website is easy to use and the trade process was straightforward. You can make more money by selling on your own but it is a hassle because sometimes people drop the class or decide not to buy the book.
