I paid $198 for "unlimited" AI generations. I got 10.
I subscribed to Envato's annual plan precisely because it offered unlimited AI generations. The pitch was clear: one subscription, all the creative assets you need, AI tools included. I bought in. I paid upfront.
Then, after my money was safely in their pocket, they pulled the rug. Not just reducing the generations — that I could understand, costs are real — but reducing them to 10 per month. Ten. That's not a plan, that's a demo tier.
Here's what makes this truly insulting: ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini give me more AI generations for free. Completely free. And Envato thinks charging $198/year for 10 generations per month is a reasonable offer to loyal paying customers.
The issue isn't that unlimited became limited. The issue is that I was led to believe this subscription included meaningful AI access, and now I realize I'm paying a premium annual fee for something that free tools outperform at zero cost.
Their official explanation? That the unlimited period was meant for users to "explore the tools and understand how they fit into their workflows." In other words: we used the promise of unlimited access to hook you, and now that you're locked in, here's your 10 generations. Enjoy.
I don't expect unlimited forever. I expect honesty before I pay, not after.
I understand that image-to-video is extremely compute-heavy and that GPU/CPU costs are real. I am not expecting a company to run unlimited generation forever for free.
That said, the way this was handled feels unethical. The feature was available for free or at an affordable level long enough for people to build it into their workflow, then it suddenly shifted to “unlimited” at a price point that is over $100/month. That is not a normal upgrade, that is basically ripping the rug out from under users who got hooked on the tool and relied on it.
If pricing has to increase, fine, but this needs to be done transparently and with respect for existing users. At minimum: give clear advance notice, publish a pricing roadmap, offer grandfathered pricing or a long transition period, and provide realistic mid-tier options (more than 10 generations/month, credit packs, or pay-as-you-go). Right now it feels like the plan is “get users dependent, then lock the useful version behind a steep monthly fee.”
I want to keep using Envato, but I cannot justify that cost for this feature, and the sudden change damaged trust.
The new changes and pricing for AI generation is unacceptable and the only way to stop them from forcing users to pay such crazy amounts is to share alternative platforms and start boycotting envato. We should stop using there services so they can be realistic about 10 image generation. When you generate an image it normally takes about 10 generations to get the image to be more or less what you want it to be so you are not actually generating 10 images but 10 versions of an image. This is useless.
I honestly feel let down. I paid for unlimited AI access, and now it’s limited to 10 generations per month. That’s less than what some free tools offer. As someone who creates daily, this makes the subscription useless for me. I expected much better transparency and fairness.
I’ve been a loyal paying subscriber since 2018. For years, I’ve praised Envato for its massive diversity of assets and unlimited downloads. When you added the AI toolkit, it was a game-changer. In fact, Envato became my primary go-to tool for AI, surpassing even Canva and my Adobe Creative Cloud license. I’ve generated thousands of images and edits because the results were superior and the "unlimited" nature fit a professional workflow.
I understand you need to monetize AI, but the new "Core" plan limits are an absolute joke. Offering 10 generations per month across graphics, video, music, and images is essentially offering nothing. Professionals "roll" the AI multiple times just to get one usable result.
To count a simple image upscale as 1 full credit—the same as a video or music generation—is unreasonable. Even Adobe understands that different media types should consume different resources. Here, everything is just drained from a tiny, useless pool of 10.
Honestly, I’d rather you remove the 10 generations from my account entirely so I don't have to see them. It's an insult to a long-term user. Most free tools on the market offer more than 10 generations a month. If you want to charge, make it reasonable.
You’ve taken my favorite AI tool and made it unusable. I’m now forced to move my workflow back to Canva Pro or Adobe Express, where paying a fee actually grants you the utility needed to get work done. Great library, but this AI "update" is a massive step backward.
This website will definitely scam you. They'll sell you a defective, non-functional product with no support. I bought a theme for my website, and it turned out to have many problems. When I contacted them, a person named Billie kept stalling and redirecting me to the theme developer, who didn't respond to his emails or provide any helpful support. In the end, I found out I had paid money for a fake product.
I have been a long‑term Envato Elements subscriber, and this is the first time I’ve experienced something this unprofessional. My annual subscription was suddenly terminated without any prior warning, notification, or consent — and at the worst possible moment for my business. I rely on Envato daily for client work, and losing access in the middle of active projects caused real delays and financial damage. What makes the situation even more frustrating is that customer support is completely unresponsive. I have contacted them multiple times and have not received a single reply or explanation. For a platform I’ve trusted for years, this level of support is unacceptable.I expect immediate restoration of my subscription or a clear explanation of why it was cancelled without notice. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Envato as a reliable service provider.
I've been using them for getting stock assets for videos for 3 years. i am at whits end. my channel is focused on LGBT and a very specific audience - gay men. yeah sometimes some females are alright - but when i am looking for stock footage - and i am editing - i dont care about DEI - i care about accurate search output. every time in my search parameters i have men, man, male, bro, brothers - ANYTHING relating to a term describing a biological MALE - FEMALES ALWAYS APPEAR IN THE SEARCH RESULTS. try searching for sister, girl, women, woman. NO MALES EVER APPEAR IN THE RESULTS. This is beyond ridiculous and a complete waste of time if their asset search engine cant even get a basic thing like this right.
My Experience With Elements.Envato Has Become Worse Over TimeI’ve been using Elements.Envato for a while, and unfortunately the platform has gone downhill. What used to feel like a reliable resource now feels like a constant source of problems."Important: Your theme is not registered! Please register your theme to upload demo and use all features."This problem they never solve I purchased 1 year licence as well. Many of the templates look good at first, but once you implement them on a server, issues start popping up. We’ve had multiple situations where clients contacted us because something in the template caused unexpected behaviour or errors. It’s frustrating, especially when you expect a premium service to offer stable, well‑tested products. What makes the situation worse is the support experience. When you reach out for help, the responses often feel unhelpful or dismissive. Instead of addressing the actual issue, you’re frequently told to purchase additional plugins or pay extra — sometimes around $50 — just to fix problems that shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Most templates seem to require extra purchases, extra fixes, or extra troubleshooting. It defeats the purpose of paying for a subscription that’s supposed to provide ready‑to‑use, high‑quality assets.Overall, Elements.Envato has become more of a headache than a solution. I really hope they improve their quality control and support, because right now the experience is far from what users expect.
Envato completely failed to protect me as a buyer.I purchased a script from CodeCanyon that was clearly advertised as a complete SaaS platform, including subscription billing, payment gateway integration, tenant onboarding, and automation features. These features were not only listed in the product description but also fully demonstrated in the official preview video. After purchasing and installing the product, I discovered that the core SaaS functionality was intentionally disabled or missing from the delivered code under the Regular License. These are not minor optional features — they are fundamental components that define the product as a SaaS platform in the first place. When I contacted the author, they refused to provide the advertised functionality and demanded that I purchase a more expensive license instead. During this dispute, the author even deactivated my license, preventing me from using the product I already paid for.I escalated the issue to Envato Support expecting fair investigation and buyer protection. Unfortunately, Envato repeatedly ignored the misleading advertising concerns and simply redirected me to generic licensing articles without addressing the actual issue: the product is marketed and demonstrated with features that are not delivered. This creates a dangerous marketplace precedent where authors can advertise full-featured systems but deliver restricted or incomplete products without clear disclosure.I trusted Envato as a professional marketplace, but this experience showed a serious lack of accountability, transparency, and buyer protection.I strongly advise buyers to carefully verify product limitations before purchasing from CodeCanyon, as Envato may not intervene even when product listings appear misleading.
