Scammers masked as a car rental company. I have bought a bundle deal, that included the car rental. Via this deal I have explicitly answered several questions about what kind of insurance etc I want for the car rental. When I arrived to pick up the car they have masked a bunch of extra charges as a "deposit". I was stupid that I haven't read through everything fully, but it was late night and I was there with toddlers and thought I can trust a big car rental company. Seems like that is not the case. Lesson learned, but if you can avoid these scammers who take advantage of a family late night with little kids. Absolutely disgusting!

Avoid Europcar in Sarajevo/Mostar

I strongly advise against renting from Europcar in Sarajevo and Mostar, Bosnia. I paid for a specific car but was given a different one, charged twice, and never received a proper receipt. Attempts to dispute the charges failed. This company is unreliable—go with Sixt or Enterprise instead. I even had to cancel my credit card because of their poor service.

I'm furious! What scam. Reservation was made months in advance and was charged on my credit card at that time. They uphold us at time of arrival. They started a new invoice, not giving credit for the $3,000 they already charged me. Flight was at 6:00 so drop off was before they were open. They didn't and won't return that $3,000. Opened a case twice and they will not resolve and keep closing the case. I will never use them again.

Terrible experience. NEVER EVER book a car with them. They claimed they didn't have the car that I reserved with days of anticipation. We couldn't cancel the booking and for the car that I booked in advance they end up charging us 31 euros more a day! They treat us like idiots and no solution was given. They say they don't work well with 3rd parties that was the excuse. I booked through booking.com
There was nobody that can help and any of both companies booking.com and europcar. This was at Spain Airport Adolfo Suarez. Jon at the counter and the manager were absolutely no help and again treat us like IDIOTS. Nothing that we could have done it was either pay the 31 more a day or loose our money 254 euros that were charged prior when we booked the car. Horrible Horrible experience. Do not book with this company. Go to the airport there are several other companies that you can use and all of them with available cars at better prices. NEVER AGAIN!

I booked and paid in full in Sept 2025 for a car hire in Chile in Feb 2026. I cancelled this trip after reading reviews and unable to get a response from the office in Chile in Torris del Pines The trip was cancelled in December 2025 and I’m still waiting on a full refund which I’m entitled to according to the terms. I have spent all of Jan chasing them by e-mail calling the reservation office in the Netherlands and they send an email to the Chilian office to explain. Chillian office looking for assistance to refund from the Netherlands and here we are. This is over 700 euro but this disgraceful customer service the company should be assumed of its image and the staff should be embarrassed to work for a company which cant provide basic customer service and refunds.

Disappointing experience with car rental.

I will not use this service again. I made a reservation for a car through a platform and provided my flight number. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed by 10 hours. I attempted to reach out to the support team but received no response, and my email inquiry only yielded a generic reply. Upon arrival at the rental location, I was informed that despite having paid, my reserved car had been given to someone else, and my flight information was missing from their system. Instead of the affordable car I booked, I was offered only high-end options at a significantly higher price. After a long day of travel, I reluctantly chose one at an extra cost of $736. It feels like they are taking advantage of customers, possibly incentivizing staff to upsell. Thankfully, there are many other rental services available.

Fabricated "damage"

Very bad experience – would not recommend this car rental company.They took my account 360 EUR for fabricated "damage" (scratch in roof area). Rental point was Gran Canaria Airport.For other travelers, I want to explain how their system feels misleading and unfair:1) The car was not washed on the outside when I received it. Because the car was dirty, it was very easy to miss existing scratches (even if it really existed?).2) There was no staff member present during the car handover. At return, you only leave the keys in a key box, so there is no inspection done together with the customer.3) They conveniently made a “mistake” when entering my email address into their system. Because of this, I did not receive any information or notice before they charged my card. Even though my card had restrictions, they used a “delayed payment” method and still took the money.4) The so-called “scratch” they charged me for was in a completely absurd location — on the roof of the car. Their assumption seems to be that customers do not check or photograph the roof (like me).My strong recommendation: avoid this company.GENERAL REVIEW:Car was dirty (not washed outside and inside the windshield was not cleaned) and with scratch but there was no way to complain because it was self service and no employees around. 2 month later thay tried to credit my card without any email notice or explanaitions. Counter employee was tired and quite ignorant. Finding the car spot took half an hour beacause there weren't clear instructions. Mastercard didn't work and thank god I had my Visa card with me as well.Overall very unpleasent experience :-(

Europcar have made my life so stressful as they refuse to change my hire car for one that fulfills my needs, as I am a disabled lady. They are so unhelpful. I feel they have taken advantage of myself being disabled. Be careful to check if the car they offer you meets your needs!

Review – Europcar Nice AirportMy husband and I rented a car from Europcar at Nice Airport, France, for 6 days, and our experience with the personnel was very disappointing.When we asked about insurance pricing, we were given three different prices, ranging from $380 to $170, by two different employees and their manager. It was clear that the staff themselves did not know the correct pricing and were asking each other for answers. At one point, the manager wrote a number on a piece of paper and said it was the correct price, only to be immediately corrected by another employee who announced a different amount.When we asked for the insurance quote to be printed and provided to us in writing, our request was refused. The manager then told us she would no longer serve us.As a result, we took the car keys and left without insurance. This was particularly concerning, as this was approximately our 25th car rental at Nice Airport, and the first time we have ever rented a car without purchasing insurance.What made the situation worse was the rude and dismissive attitude of the staff when we asked reasonable questions. Instead of clarifying the pricing or helping us understand our options, the interaction felt unprofessional and uncomfortable.Transparent pricing and respectful customer service are basic expectations, especially for international travelers. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those standards.

Europcar doesn't even deserve 1 *. Picked up my car from Jhb airport, it broke down 30mins after fetching. Also was charged £100 nore for the deposit than was told originally.Was told I could only get a replacement tomorrow, but ended going to Lanseria Airport to get a replacement car. Ivhad paid for an upgrade automatically car at Jhb airport, get to Lanseria airport a d they want to give me a manual.Dreadful, Dreadful service. The only competent person was Emma.
