Awful system on the site and no customer service of any value.
I went to log in to site on my account. For no reason I was told to reset password which was totally unnecessary.
When I did press to reset password I never got an email to reset it like I was told I would.
I wrote to the customer service email and over 2 whole days they still haven't resolved things. Instead a dumb reply telling me to check Junk mail. Duh, I went to check it as soon as I said to reset password.
Then a reply saying there are special procedures I have to go through just to simply reset a password which I shouldn't have to do in the first place.
After that I sent a reply but I never got a response. They take way too long to contact me and right now I am still waiting hours for their next reply.
There is no one to complain too for how bad they treated me, their responses are ignorant and idiotic and right now they are leaving me in the dark and in the void all over a stupid problem of just a password reset leaving me locked out of my own account that has all my history of films and their submissions over 6 years old and no interest to help me further.
Im looking at some governing bodies to report FilmFreeway to. As right now with just a geographical address I have to go to their offices in person with my lawyer just to speak to someone just to do a simple action of activating my password.
But now I need to report and sue FilmFreeway.
As a festival organizer, I want to share my challenging experience. Our festival held a public screening on July 15, which went ahead as scheduled. The event welcomed various guests and winners, and we submitted all required documentation to the platform, including photos from the event and an official invoice for the venue rental. At that time, support assured us that everything was fine. However, around six months later, our festival was marked as non-public due to a claim that the venue information was falsified. Despite my repeated attempts to provide evidence (photos, invoices, and email exchanges) and seek clarification, this documentation was disregarded, and no specific proof for the claim was offered. I share this experience to emphasize the need for clear communication and transparent verification processes for those organizing festivals.

As a newcomer to short film production, I was referred to a platform by a fellow student in my master's documentary course. I submitted a fictional short film to some festivals and a documentary to others. So far, I have not received any responses from three festivals whose notification dates have passed. My films remain 'under consideration' for festivals, despite one of them being scheduled to occur soon. It seems that the platform does not take responsibility for the presence of questionable festivals. Are they profiting from the fees paid by struggling filmmakers to these dubious festivals? If so, that is quite concerning.
Initially, it may have been acceptable, but now it is overwhelmed with scammers and spammers. Opportunists exploit desperate filmmakers, and there is no verification of their legitimacy. The platform should take action against these dishonest festivals, yet they don't filter out even the obvious frauds. Other platforms may charge a small fee but take their responsibilities seriously. It's unfortunate that this one might continue operating under different names, despite its issues.
There are numerous fraudulent festivals. One, for instance, initially selected us as Semi-Finalists. After inquiring about what that meant and whether we would be screened, I noticed they changed our status to Not Selected. I reported this to the platform multiple times regarding festivals not adhering to their own terms, such as demanding additional subtitles after the fact, and they stated there was nothing they could do. They lack an enforcement system, merely sending emails to the festivals, which is ineffective. I have spent so much money on this platform over the years, and I now see how much of a scam it is. There is no way to verify what the fees are for or if anyone has actually watched your film, let alone provide feedback. All I receive are automated emails.
My experience with the platform has been very disappointing. I encountered unexpected fees due to a bug on their site. When I reached out for support, I received an arrogant response that focused on their policies without addressing the bug I reported, and there was no apology or solution offered. Beyond the fees, there were numerous spam emails that disregarded customer privacy, and many questionable festivals. The platform needs to treat its customers with more respect. I hope for more competition in the market, as it currently feels like a monopoly, which has led to poor behavior. I will limit my use of this site in the future.
I submitted my film to a festival through the platform in July 2025, and the notification date was set for August 10, 2025. However, I received no notification or response from either the festival or the platform's support. I emailed them on both August 10 and 11, but heard nothing back. This raises concerns about whether this is a scam. It's quite distressing.
