The company can improve by closing down and simply allowing us to book our own hotels and activities. We have a voucher for a hotel which no longer exists and Smartbox have just offered us the same voucher for the same hotel. When we wrote to them (several times) it was apparent that we are receiving useless messages which are either standard replies or (worse) automatically generated without customer service intervention. They refuse to refund money for a service that they sold to us and now cannot provide. Neither can we reconfigure in a way that provides a similar service without paying a lot extra.Hotels we spoke to also refuse to accept a Smartbox booking during any popular periods. Our only response is to let Smartbox know that we have told our network of generous friends and family about our experiences and have asked them NEVER TO OFFER US A SMARTBOX VOUCHER AGAIN as it has cost us as much to try and make it work as the amount of the voucher. But I guess that’s the point We will also seek out social media outlets to share our experiences
Smartbox is a real scam. I had a voucher for 2 hotel nights for 300 euro but never found anything suitable available as 90% of the hotels listed dont seem to be ever available. Now I wanted to extend my voucher which should in theory work. But in practice I would have to pay 175 euro to renew the same. And here is the proof this is a real scam. They claim you can exchange or renew any voucher. In practice, you can ONLY exchange it for the same value or MORE EXPENSIVE voucher and they cheat by not even listing 90% of the same price vouchers when you choose to exchange it. When I check their smartbox vouchers without logging in, I find dozens of boxes for the same value, but when I log in and choose to exchange my current voucher, suddenly only 2 appear to be the same value and everything else is more expensive. On top of that, they asked me to pay 75 euro for just extending the date on top of paying extra for the supposedly more expensive box. If they would be honest, they would list all the same value boxes and they should also allow you to make a reservation for something cheaper than what you paid for. I would accept not getting compensated for the difference in price. But not letting me choose a 200 euro booking when I already paid them 300 euro is the real scam.
I have been attempting to contact the company for weeks about an issue with my voucher but they never reply to messages on their help page and the phone lines are permanently "busy" so they end the call! I would not advise anyone to purchase from this company
Horrible Experience. Received 2 as a gift to find out they were not valid in my country anymore. Nobody informed me of this so they stole 200 euro. The customer support was the most unsupportive and condescending I have ever dealt with and have prolonged the process of me refunding these tickets for currently 4 months and counting. If you are debating buying this, don't. Instead throw the money in the toilet and defecate on it. At least then you get some assemblance of an experience.
Brought a 2 smartboxes with a specific activity. When tried to book with the partner was told that the activity had been withdrawn 2yrs previously. I then contacted Smartbox for a refund as they could not fulfill their sale but was told I could only exchange for another box.I insisted I wanted a refund and was told that there was no superior person to talk to at that moment and somebody would contact me. I am still waiting. Why should I pay for something that was advertised but not available?It is July now and I have been refunded for the two boxes after numerous phone calls and emails. This should not happen
This is a scam! Do not trust, do not put your money into it, you´ll lose it. If I could, I´d give -5 stars. I got a gift card for two nights stay for two in any of the partner venues. Needless to say, no venues were available at any time throughout the whole year since I received the voucher. The only way to communicate with the Smartbox is through the Chatbot which was useless to say the least. No possibility to talk to real person, or at least I haven´t found any and the Chatbot didn´t provide any either, even when asked. Now the voucher was comming to an end, so I exchanged the voucher for something that was supposed to be delivered, not an experience to be booked with a partner. Payed extra 15 euros on top of the 200 my friends already put into it. And what do you think? "It appears that the description on the voucher doesn´t match what is in our system, we are sorry but there is nothing we can do." And of course no money back. So whoever considers this provider to get a voucher, whether it is for yourself or for a friend, please think twice, you´ll not get anything out of it.
We hit it right time wise as we were alone on the site for 2 nights. The hot tub was very hot and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast is a bit bland; we would have preferred to be offered a choice; bread and pastries is nice but not exciting and not healthy. A yoghurt or cereal would be more interesting. Lovely hot shower and the heater gave us some great warmth. Too much clutter in the room though and kitchen equipment a bit of a mish mash of things; coffee machine needed cleaning so the coffee came out very weak. We had to light up the sauna ourselves but were able to enjoy it. Love the setting and region. Great shop with some superb choice of jams and drinks.
