After 34 years as a nonprofit, we finally needed to ask for help for one of our faithful volunteers. We had never used an online service for our NGO. The platform was easy for this nearly 80-year-old volunteer, and the staff were fast, friendly, and totally helpful with my mound of questions. The patrons seem delighted with the online service, presentation, and layout. I was fearful but loved the experience!
Be careful! Givebutter deceptively adds on hefty donations for themselves when you process your charitable gift transactions. I paid a charity a gift of 1k and in the fine print my pressing the button to gift this amount came back on my receipt email as 1,180 gift. A 30 processing fee and 150 donation to givebutter. They call this a tip, and say it offsets the cost of providing free services to charities. After sending three emails, I was able to recoup this unwanted tip. So it’s a hassle if you are not extremely careful in processing your transaction. The company should not be automatically tacking on such large sums for themselves. I have notified the charity that used givebutter of my experience. It is fine for givebutter to ask for a tip, but the automatic tack on of 150 seems exorbitant.
