Review Time
I stayed at their Toronto property (3503 21 Iceboat Terrace) from January 18-22, 2026.
The deposit scam:
Required $200 CAD deposit + passport photo outside Booking.com before check-in
Their own policy states 7-day refund, but took 36 days
Only refunded after I filed formal complaint with Booking.com
Charged $20 for false "towel damage" - I only used it normally for bathing
This is a pattern:
Check their reviews here (1.3/5), Google (1 star), and Booking.com - dozens of guests report identical issues: withheld deposits, invented damage charges, poor communication.
The apartment itself was acceptable, but the deposit refund process shows this company operates unethically. They bank on guests not fighting back.
Warning: If you book with Globalstay, expect deposit problems. Document everything with photos and timestamps at check-in/check-out.
When we first got to the building there were little to no intrusions on how to get into the building, and how to get to the floor. It was also difficult to contact the host for any other info. When we got to the room it looks good at a first glance but baseboards were missing, crappie paint jobs on the walls, and in the bathroom there we bad attempts at wall patches.
I would rate them a zero if possible. I made a booking for New Year's and later requested to add an extra day. Instead of accommodating me, they charged me three times for that additional day. The day before check-in, I received an email asking for my ID (which felt unsafe) and a demand for a deposit that was double the amount initially advertised. To add insult to injury, despite the hefty fees of $400, I was informed that garbage disposal was not included, and I had to handle it myself or face additional charges. Upon arrival, the place was not clean, and there was a dead mouse; their response was merely to inform their cleaning company to be more careful. They allowed us to stay in a unit with a rotting mouse. They charged me double the deposit and took $1000 from my credit card before I even checked out, claiming they needed to inspect for damages that hadn’t occurred yet. It’s clear they have no intention of returning the deposit. They fabricated reasons to charge me an extra $640 and communicated inappropriately via WhatsApp without my consent. Thankfully, I have video and photographic evidence showing the damage was pre-existing. The most absurd charge was $500 for scratches on the microwave that weren't there when we left! They are clearly dishonest, having inflated their prices by 300%, and then lied about damages while violating health and safety standards.
Engaging with this service was a huge mistake. I booked an accommodation thinking it was a hotel, but it turned out to be an office building repurposed as an apartment. From day one, my daughter and I noticed there was no television and no hot water! I contacted them regarding these issues, but the TV was never repaired, and it took them five days to address the hot water problem. They also retained my deposit for two weeks and had the nerve to charge a cleaning fee when I left the place in better condition than when I arrived. I am considering legal action regarding the lack of hot water, as it is illegal in my area to rent a unit without it! I strongly recommend steering clear of this unprofessional service. If I could rate them a zero, I would. I've traveled to 27 countries and lived in 7, and this has been my worst experience by far!
My 18-year-old daughter rented an apartment for a two-day stay but was woken up by individuals in the apartment taking videos. When confronted, the trespassers claimed they had a key and the right to be there, leaving my daughter horrified. Despite numerous attempts to contact the service, there was no resolution. I made multiple calls and was either told they were looking into it or the call ended abruptly. My daughter lost her $1000 deposit and the cost of her tickets for the evening because she was too scared to leave in case someone entered the apartment again. She barricaded the door for safety and left first thing in the morning. This terrible experience cost her $1500.

They are scammers who will not refund your deposit. Avoid them at all costs! I requested pictures of the alleged damage, but they refused to provide them and only explained the situation after much insistence. I'm still waiting for the photos. How can they claim a bed leg was broken due to improper use? Are they going to instruct me on how to lay down properly? Check their reviews online; many people report the same issue of losing their deposits without refunds. Scammers!
