Bought my 2015 Audi A6 from a prestige…

Bought my 2015 Audi A6 from a prestige dealer in December 2017. The salesman recommended an AA warranty and I thought to myself that sounded like a good choice to make. Nothing happened until we went away on holiday and our electric tailgate started to only open half way. I rang the AA up (Motoways Direct) and after 45 minutes of waiting, I reported the issue and them to which they found a local approved repairer within 10 miles of my home. I think thought great, what’s not to like about this warranty. I ended the call and promptly called the number of the garage. There was no answer after trying numerous times over the course of 3 days. I called Motorways Direct back and after another unreasonable amount of waiting I explained the situation. A second approved repairer was given for me to call. Great news! The repairer answer but after explaining my issue, they quickly informed me that due to the nature of the issue, they were unable to help me. I called Warranties Direct back a third time and after yet another extended period of senseless waiting, I got through to an operator. After explaining the situation they decided to hand the reins over to me and told me to find a garage to take it to albeit with some rather restrictive and unreasonable hourly rate caps for repairs to a high end German car with all the gadgets and gizmos under the sun. The hourly rates where £40.00 an hour but seeing as my case was extenuating circumstances they upped it to £55.00 per hour. I was rather concerned about this but still rang round some garages whom were Audi specialists. The first quoted £79.00 plus VAT plus £50.00 for diagnostics. The garage also stated that due to probably countless past experiences of warranty companies and in particular MD they insisted that all repairs were paid for in full by myselfand then I would have to reclaim it back. The second quoted £59.00 plus VAT and £35.00 for diagnostics. I went back to MD and after yet more waiting I told them of the figures I had been given and they told me that any monies above the limits they specified would have to be met by myself along with the diagnostics. I asked about the lead time for monies to be paid back and they said it is 14 days. After thinking to myself just what am I getting for my £582.00 apart from endless waiting on the phone and the prospect of the paying for potentially expensive repairs upfront and claiming it back the monies they were happy paying (if they even found my claim to be legitimate which reading others seems a rare occurrence) I decided to speak to another garage for another opinion. They asked me to check to see if a height restrictor had been inadvertently activated. Sure as it was, that was the case and I felt rather relieved if not rather embarassed that there was actually nothing wrong with the car!Having experienced this and highlighted some key flaws in the service that MD or AA provide and the apparent non existent value for money, I rung up the selling dealer to complain with a long winded email..... So far so good and hopefully I am on the cusp of getting a pro rata refund back from the selling dealer for 15 months of the 2 year warranty. I am advised that these policies are not refundable so in a round about way I ought to be grateful for their understanding in my dissatisfaction of AA warranties. My advice to anyone wanting to spend their money wisely is to keep well away. If you are buying a car less than 3 years old (like I did) you already have far better cover with a manufacturer warranty than with these independent warranties.A moment of madness I will not be doing again.

Very Poor wouldn’t recommend

Getting through on the phone took over 40 mins each timeI’ve had to pay out nearly £700 (lucky I could)Over 10 days to be reimbursed Not the slick experience I would expect from the AAI won’t be renewing and would not recommend The only reason I gave any stars is because the guys who answer the phone are fantastic

Another embittered Customer!

Another embittered Customer! When dealer issued me with AA warranty I thought 'nice! at least I've got that peace of mind in case something will be wrong with the car' Turns out it was even worst with it as work that could be done in one day left me for three without a car because AA was so slow with the process that even garage had to chase it up. And eventually turns out it was not covered anyway! From the picture that the garage sent they could deduced that it was leaking oil already for a while. Think they can just say that about everything that it was damaged or used for a while. It’s a used car!!! Why to give a warranty in the first place. When I rang to cancel it as there is no point to have it, I prefer to pay and save days, customer service just said 'what’s the point it’s not refundable anyway'Never again AA, don’t even know why I gave 2 stars. Nobody was rude to me :) nice

Automatic Claim Denial Process

It seems there is an automatic claim denial process, without much explanation given why. Not only until you appeal the denial do they have an actual claim assessment. My relatively simple claim was granted in the end, but it seems there was no proper assement until the initial, seemingly automatic denial was appealed.
