My checked baggage was damaged on a Gulf Air international flight. The damage was reported immediately at arrival.
Although the airline acknowledged the damage, they offered only EUR 60, claiming that luggage older than five years is automatically considered “wear and tear”. This is their internal policy, not a rule under the Montreal Convention.
After I asked for a review of the compensation, Gulf Air refused and stopped responding.
Very disappointing customer care and a clear disregard for passenger rights.
The service completely disrupted our trip. Our flight was changed at the last minute, causing us to miss our connection. After spending a night in a foreign city, our flight was cancelled again, forcing us to stay another night, and then it was delayed once more the next day. We experienced delays for two full days and ended up missing a significant family event. Hotel accommodation cannot compensate for such poor planning and lack of communication. It was extremely frustrating – I cannot recommend this service at all.

I would give zero stars if possible. I booked a business class ticket months in advance, only to have my flight cancelled days before departure without reason. The customer service was unhelpful, directing me to my travel agent for cancellations. If they treat premium customers this poorly, I can only imagine how economy passengers are treated.
