Review Time
I am a certified secondary school administrator. I am looking to become a small school principal or assistant principal. To work that, I set my filters and "bang" I get 416 jobs that "match" my search. No I did not search for a Behavior Technicians role, an FBI agent role, a Pre School teacher, a Nurses Assistant etc. I had to go through 23 RIDICULOUSLY non-matched role to even get to a job opening even remotely close to what I was in theory "looking" for. PATHETIC!
Indeed.com has consistently gotten worse over the years. Pages and pages full of the same exact jobs to make it appear like they actually have job listings and now they've added a "review details" section when applying to jobs that takes up even more time. Use anything else but Indeed at this point
Postings are undated. I know there's a way to inspect the source and figure it out, but that's such a hassle. The postings are just often so old. Trying to help a teenager find a job is usually going to be at a quick turnover kind of place, postings over 30 days old are useless and irrelevant.
I found two jobs by using Indeed. I am very happy with them. They give you advice when writing your resume. You can refine your searches to tailor to the job you want. What some other reviewers complained about is partly true: A lot of jobs that show up on your job search are not right for you. However, a lot of them are. If you page through the list of jobs, you can usually find a few that match your skills.
This platform is misleading for individuals dependent on government assistance to maintain their benefits. Whenever we requested that applicants come in, they often failed to appear and did not respond to our inquiries, seemingly uninterested in working. I was charged over $2000 for no results. I even created an account posing as an applicant to look for my specific listing, but my ad never appeared. I strongly advise against using this platform as it perpetuates reliance on the system.
They stifle your freedom of expression, preventing you from sharing your experiences about a company in a review. I feel strongly that they may be influenced by companies to do this. I was shocked when I submitted my account of my job experience, only to have my review rejected and made invisible to others. I will never use this platform again. It is unjust to suppress freedom of speech, especially when the content is neither vulgar nor threatening. Be cautious of the reviews you see there, as the platform tends to filter out negative feedback about various companies.
The platform feels like a spam site, primarily focused on generating click traffic. Job listings are rarely up-to-date, and many descriptions seem fake. I advise against using this service for job searches, as it often leads to a frustrating cycle of dead ends. It's time for the platform to reconsider its approach.
We have relied on this service for nearly 20 years, but we've recently chosen to stop using it. Several issues have led us to believe that the platform is declining rather than improving. Firstly, they now limit users to just 3 free job postings per month. Once we reach this limit, we are compelled to pay significantly for any additional positions we need to fill. Secondly, the cost of sponsorship is excessively high and unacceptable. Each click on a job listing incurs a charge, yet most clicks do not lead to applications, regardless of the offered salary. The pay-per-click model is vastly overpriced and does not deliver satisfactory results. For example, sponsoring a role could cost us over a thousand, and we might end up with numerous clicks but no applications. This is where the service has faltered. The restriction on job postings and the push for costly sponsorships feels like an unfair demand on companies. It appears that this model is more about lining the pockets of leadership than providing value to users. We can no longer justify the expense of advertising here, as we struggle to find even one suitable candidate for every five job postings, whether sponsored or not. The platform has become a costly endeavor.
The customer charging method is fundamentally FLAWED. There used to be a more logical approach where you didn't pay for every person who merely viewed your ad, but now it feels overly greedy. Out of 200 resumes and $1000 spent, only about 10 have relevant experience, and MAYBE 2-3 meet our specific requirements. Yet, we pay for EVERY individual who CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE JOB TITLE and applies. Why would someone apply for a specialized role if their background is in unrelated entry-level jobs? And WHY should we bear the cost of this misunderstanding? Even 1 star feels too generous. This service might work for general job placements, but it’s TERRIBLE for anything related to trades or professional careers from an employer's viewpoint.
The pricing structure for customers is utterly BROKEN. It used to be more reasonable, where you didn’t pay for every person who just glanced at your ad, but now it feels greedy. Out of 200 resumes received and $1000 spent, only around 10 have relevant experience, and MAYBE 2-3 fit our actual criteria. Yet, we are charged for EVERY person who CAN'T READ THE JOB TITLE and applies. Why would someone apply for a specialized role if their background is in unrelated, entry-level jobs? Why should we bear the cost of this misunderstanding? Even 1 star seems too generous. This service may suit generic job postings, but it’s AWFUL for trade or professional roles, especially from an employer’s perspective.
