Kickstarter is a platform on which anyone can collect money for anything. Anyone can just put up a fake product and collect money for it. Kickstarter doesn't care if the product is ever delivered because even if it was just a scam, they still make money from it.Do not use Kickstarter.
Campaign/Project by SSimder.com for 10 in 1 welding cutting machine SD 4050 was successfully completed and sold to the public around July 2023. I am kickstarter.com backer #82 and paid USD 601 for this machine and accessories in Dec 2022. In June 2023 Ssimder informed my machine was already shipped out. Later I contacted them for delivery tracking no. but they ignored my multiple request. My card issuer Visa requested kickstarter.com for chargeback because of non delivery of the completed machine. However kickstarter.com refuse to give a refund stating "kickstarter is not responsible for the seller's fulfillment of their project". Kickstarter is 100% scam as they even refuse to pressure Ssimder to allow for chargeback by Visa. Do not ever use kickstarter.com for any new or future campaign/project as your campaign funds is 100% not guaranteed. In my other kickstarter campaign by seller for thermoforming machine and the seller absconded with my money and did not complete the project.
Kickstarter support refuses to abide by their own terms. Their help resources advise reaching out to support if you do not hear back from a creator in over 2 weeks. I've not heard back from a creator in over 22 weeks despite 5 reach-outs. (They're active on social media but blocked backers.) When reaching out to Kickstarter support they simply mark the ticket as "solved" with zero response. Despite reopening the ticket and asking for a response, they continue to mark the ticket as "solved" (5 times now) with zero reply. They treated my previous support tickets alerting Kickstarter of the creator's abuse of the campaign updates much the same in November & December. Consider me done with Kickstarter for good. I've backed 86 campaigns over the past 11 years, and the platform's utter disregard for the manipulative exploitation of backers and lack of response around this latest problem campaign is my final straw. Never again.
I pledged a not insignificant amount of money to fund a project that had no interest in delivering it's product. That pledge then received over half a million pounds in total. Kickstarter had no interest in helping out those people scammed, only pointing people in the direction of their terms and conditions stating that it's the projects responsibility to treat the pledgers responsibility and refund money if they cannot deliver the product.Avoid using Kickstarter there are too many scam projects designed only to deliver money to criminals.
There needs to be a zero star option!! This company allows scammers to operate within the system to completely rip off innocent persons. They have no accountability - if you like the idea of throwing your hard earned money out the window then by all means back this piece of $h!* The concept of supporting up and comers is good, but there needs to be better policies in place to prevent fraud. This company has NO preventative measures. BEWARE and DO NOT USE THIS CONCEPT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE YOUR MONEY!!
