Kickstarter is just a haven for scammers anymore. "Companies" take your money, deliver vastly different products, if at all, and they can hide behind Kickstarter as a way to have no accountability. Unless you are OK with flat out losing your money, don't ever use Kickstarter for anything. I for sure will not. Dride 4k prime example. Scamming bunch of crooks that need to be locked up!
Project for Vinylsonic Two years into the project and they have delivered nothing. No communication at all since April 2023. Project taken in over $600,000 and it looks like that money has just been stolen.Backersonly is listed on the project page
There are some amazing innovations on Kickstarter. I've backed and received 4/6 projects.But you DO have to watch out. There are no guarantees. It's not like online shopping. Every now and again, there's either a full-on scam campaign that takes the money and runs. Or there's a campaign where I truly believe the creator's heart was in the right place, but due to their ambition and lack of experience, they aren't able to deliver on the promise. I've had 2 projects drop out from underneath me. One was ~$50 so I wasn't too worried, but the other was a big chunk. I wish there were more guarantees and protections for the backers that make this platform possible. Maybe worth exploring other similar platforms for one that is more backer-focused?
I have backed about 5 projects. Some were successful and I was happy with the result. But two of them were a desaster. For one project the product's quality was below par. Can happen, I got over it. But for another project, BeYou Chair, I really feel that I have been scammed. Or I am still being scammed. The communication from the projects company is passive aggressive and so far, I still have not received the product because there is always a new hurdle. However, the chair is being sold via normal channels. So there are no hurdles there, funny right. Anyway, only 1 start for Kickstarter itself, because they do ab-so-lu-te-ly nothing to protect its customers. Complete silence. An empty shell to give people the opportunity to take money from other people. And that is really a shame for the projects that do deliver. But this was my last backing of a project. Never, ever again.
This website could be a great idea, but unfortunately it allows scammers to sell air and it won’t do anything about it.There is no way of knowing which projects are real and which ones aren’t, and if you chose the wrong one, kickstarter takes no action.
Kickstarter did NO checking of the project, it was listed as from TX but was actually a scam from China.No word or rsponses from kickstarter on this and the projected disappeared - as in the project creators disappeared.Support from Kickstarter - they will not respond.
