I was directed to a shop in Exeter, Devon which was believed to offer a leather shoe-stretching service. Just off Exeter main street, I told the man there that my new boots were just slightly too tight around my small toe and asked if he was able to stretch them in this area only. This seemed to be something he did often, so i left the boots in his capable hands and I he even said they would be ready for pick-up the folowing day.The next day I tried on the newly-stretched boots at Loake's and they were now totally comfy, much more room and a boot I could now wear all day. However, when I went to the counter to pay for this brilliant service, I nearly fell over backwards when the man said there was no charge and that it is a free service they offer. I was speechless - maybe I am a cynic but in my world you get nothing for free and how grateful did i feel when i walked out Loake's door thinking I literally have the comfiest pair of boots now and it did not cost me a penny to modify them. I have already recommended Loake's to two friends and i fully intend to return next month to buy the beautiful hand-made, soft leather weekend bag for my son's 30th birthday that was on display there. You see, by showing a little bit of generosity in offering a no-strings-attached, free service, Loake's has enticed me back to spend more in gratitude!
Loakes shoes are expensive but lovely shoes however customer service very difficult to deal with if there is a delivery problem. Have had to re order from another supplier and be out of pocket for at least a week due to lost in transit. Needed for holidays Customer servive not good sadly
I ordered a pair of Gisbourne boots size 8F in the sale and the price was extremely good at around £190.I was happy with the apparent quality upon receiving them. When tried on they were very heavy and stiff but seemed to be the correct size and fitting for me - I have very normal feet. After 10 days of following all advice on breaking in new shoes I have given up.I’m very disappointed but have concluded that these boots will never be comfortable or fit properly.I just wonder why they were in the sale in the first place?Expensive mistake, but hoping someone will be happy with them when they snap them up in the local charity shop where they are about to be donated to.
