Review Time
During a check through my bank statement this month I came across a payment taken by Magazines Direct of £29.99. Surprising as I do not have a current subscription with them. Further investigation showed I had overlooked the same payment being taken from my account on the same date in 2022 and 2023. I held previous subscriptions for 2 magazines both terminated in January 2023 and neither for £29.99. I duly contacted customer services on 2.8.24 and was asked to email proof of the payments being taken as they couldn’t find anything on my account that corresponded with these amounts. This was duly done and I received a response addressed to a completely different person using a subscription number that did not pertain to me. I replied pointing this out and received a further inane email acknowledging my payments were taken for the unknown subscription and another unrecognised one and apologies for the inconvenience! I phoned again today, the customer service operator agreed that the subscriptions were not in my name and that the payments should not have been taken. She has promised to escalate this ( I grow weary!!!) and contact me with her solution by the end of this week. I felt obliged to point out that my expectation was for a full refund of £89.97, the only solution for money wrongfully taken from my account. The erroneous use of my bank account is a data breach by this company, in their own terms and conditions such incidents should be reported to the Data Protection Office at Future Publishing. The address can be googled on line, they just send you in circles on the Future Publishing website. I urge anyone who has experienced something similar or who has paid for products they have not received to not give up. It is extremely tiresome pursuing these people for a satisfactory resolution, however, I realised reading these reviews (mostly 1*) that all these amounts of money improperly taken add up to a very considerable amount in the company bank account and an abuse of the customer. Don’t use this company and please discourage anyone who will listen to you not to use this company, it is not properly organised, it is not well run and when things go wrong they suddenly become very inaccessible and so hard to resolve. As of 9.8.24 I have not received any requests from anyone asking for any further information. The case reference number for the email trail between myself and Magazines Direct customer services was included in the hidden information on my original review and would include all the information the company requires to investigate this matter. In spite of the assurances from the operator I spoke with on 6.8.24 I have heard nothing more.

Ordered a single issue of Cycling Weekly advertised as Cav's 35th TdF celebration edition (18th July 24) only to find when it came that this was not the case - 11th July 24 edition was the actual Cav edition and was not available on website despite Customer Services telling me that they had stock. After complaining, they e-mailed me to say they would post out a copy of the 11th July 24 edition as a good will gesture, but this never arrived!!!

Wrong issue was sent. Contacted customer service who agreed to send again but sent another incorrect issue. Contacted them a second time and they agreed for a second time to send out the correct issue. A month later nothing turned up so contacted them for a 3rd time and once again they agreed to send it out again. I also filled in a negative questionnaire so was contacted by another representative called Marc Remerata who asked me to wait 10 working days but surprise surprise, 20 working days later no magazine. The magazine is now out of stock everywhere unless I want to pay 10x the price and get it on eBay.Useless and Incompetent customer service. Will never use again.
Took out a 4 issue subscription for £2 with Magazines Direct for Prog Magazine and they have only delivered 2 magazines. Now been told cancelled subscription and probably won't get final 2 issues. I really wanted issue 155 but told now sold out but you can still get it as a standalone issue on their website for £9.99! Complete rip off. Will not touch this magazine again.
