Review Time
I came across Maxai looking for an AI URL analysis tool. They have such a tool where you enter the URL in a box and get a summary etc. with some options. At least that's what it claims. Every time I use it, it blanks the text box and complains there's no URL. Eventually this uses up the credits for the day and it's game over. I will improve this rating if I ever discover a way to get it to work.
I subscribed to MaxAI’s Elite plan in 2024. I requested a refund and cancellation immediately after being charged, and I have email proof where they offered a refund/extension but they still NEVER RESPONDED after I confirmed. I sent a follow up weeks later and still no response.Despite this, a year later in 2025, they charged me again for $144 without my consent. At no point did they send a reminder about the upcoming renewal. Their so-called “cancel subscription” option is hidden and dysfunctional, making it almost impossible to unsubscribe. When confronted, they still refused to return my money, hiding behind a “no-refund policy”. They effectively took payment for a service I did not want, did not use, and had already canceled. This is the definition of unethical and misleading business practice. It borders on a scam:Unclear cancellation even if i explicitly asked for it multiple timesNo renewal notice before chargingPromised refund/extension never honoredConsumers deserve transparency and respect, not deceptive billing traps.⚠️ Stay away from MaxAI. There are better AI tools that won’t try to lock you into a subscription nightmare.
Big ripoff. I Googled for Dall-E and these guys came up and presented themselves as the front end for that tool. After subscribing, I realized they did not own Dall-E and were just a wrapper. I tried to cancel my subscription, but the link didn't work. and no one returned several calls and eMails.
The service is horrible. They didn’t send me notice of renewal, I cancelled as soon as I got it and replied to them immediately and they sent me a long winded email about how expensive their service is and have been arguing with me via email for 3 days. They only reply at night and do not have a phone number so we can presume they are in a different time zone outside the states. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
Bad customer service. I stopped using the service, and forgot about it. My subscription renewed automatically on an annual basis. I noticed this the same day, and cancelled it right away, though the customer service was not willing to give me any refund, not even for part of the year
I’ve used MaxAI for a couple of years, paid without issue, but now I’m in a financial crisis, and they are forcing me to pay for an entire year I won’t even use. The website is unavailable to cancel the subscription, and their support is completely useless. They just copy-paste some excuse about Stripe and a "no-refund policy.". The service is horrible!
Maxai.me and Maxai.co are a Scam, save yourself from Identity Theft (same company). While you can always file a chargeback with your bank to get your money back, the ID and data theft that these guys are doing is serious (it's also all over Reddit).1. Their service fundamentally does not work; this service and company are a total scam operated out of an offshore location. They have now updated their domain to maxi.co, which is the same company. So beware.2. They charged me for another year of subscription (despite my cancellation) two weeks before the new subscription went into effect.3. When I contacted them asking for a refund (even before the renewal kicked in), they kept arguing for over a week as to why they could not refund and offered some weird credits, which made no sense in the first place, given that I had already given them notice of cancellation in advance.4. I had to report the transaction to American Express/my bank as fraudulent and unauthorized and file a chargeback to get my money back. Amex credited the money back to me, given that I had all the evidence that the charge was unauthorized.5. After doing some additional due diligence, I realized these guys are a total fraud and are doing highway robbery/scamming people in the US in the guise of aggregated AI Services, which is not true. They are just using free api's in the background and phishing data from your computer using their Chrome and other plugins. I have also reported them to Google for data abuse.Stay away from these scamsters. You may lose your data to some random company offshore and end up with a potential ID theft.
As it happened with others it happened with me too. They don't give any notice for renewal of the annual subscription and charged for their service that I don't use it anymore. They don't answer phones or emails so be very cautious before subscribe. It was a $300 painful experience. At the end I had to cancel my card. If you in this situation make sure that you phone your bank and ask to remove tokens from your card as if it isn't removed they will charge you even if you change your card.
