Never again!

On March 28, we paid online for parking during a concert in New Orleans. When the concert was over, it was around 11 PM. We tried to exit the parking garage, but the gate would not raise and let us out. Luckily, we had our phones and called the number listed at the gate. The operator asked for proof that we had paid and our plate number. She raised the gate for us about 20 minutes later. If there had been a medical emergency, no one could have gotten into or out of the garage. I received a text message the next morning that included a bill for parking.

As bad as it gets

As bad as it gets. Parked for 45 min, selected the one hour option in app. Their high tech cameras did not detect our exit and we were charged for 24 hrs. Attempted to dispute with customer service which was was rude, dismissive and blamed us- hilariously - as we followed their directions. NowReading reviews o see this is just common operating procedure for them

Metropolis Parking

Metropolis Parking: WARNING – DO NOT ENTER. These parking facilities (at malls, etc.) are extortion scams. Let’s start with a Google search of Metropolis Parking reviews: “Overcharging/Hidden Fees, Phantom Billing, Difficult Disputing, Equipment Errors”. Based on my personal experience I would add the following descriptions: Entrapment, false imprisonment, extortion of personal information, fraudulent and unauthorized charging of credit card, and attempted cell phone hacking. This is what happened to me: I was traveling and pulled off the freeway for some rest. Saw a shopping mall off the exit. There was a parking garage with a “Parking” sign, and no other signs. Pulled into the parking entrance to find a dark, long, pathway that was blocked on both sides (so you could not exit or divert). At the end of the path there was a gate and sign that said All Payments Must be made by cell phone. Heck, I do not use my cell phone for any financial transactions, especially at an unknown location. I started backing up to get out, but other cars came from behind me and started honking. So I was trapped. I drove ahead to the gate and waited. The gate opened, I parked and went into the mall, searching for payment information or assistance. I saw a sign for “how to pay”. This is what Metropolis wanted: Scan a QR code, download an app, sign up and create a password, enter your name, address, phone, email, and car license plate number!!! HE!! NO. There was a customer service number and I called. I was told this is the only method of payment, otherwise I couldn’t leave the mall! I talked to two other people. Finally, one of them said they would send me a link so I can pay online with a credit card, BUT as long as I promise to pay within 24 hours (otherwise, blah, blah, blah – I was too angry to remember or care at that point). So I drove out of the parking lot to an exit gate, which would not open. Cars piled up behind me. There was a different customer service phone number posted, so I called. I was finally able to exit the parking structure, but with the threat of paying within 24 hours, or else … (they had camera images of my car and license plate). So, I received the payment link on my phone and paid with credit card. A few minutes later I get an email from my bank saying there is ANOTHER charge of $9.99 from Metropolis. I called again and I was told that this was a fee to verify my identity !!! STAY AWAY FROM Metropolis Parking.

Credit Card Stolen!!

We parked a rental vehicle in a Metropolis lot in NY. 2 months later the rental vehicle was parked by another user in TN and the company processed payment on our debit card. When we contacted the company they said they would not refund us because our card is linked to this rental vehicle. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. THEY STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Requesting Additional Charges/Fees

I was charged the original parking fee on the initial date, yet metropolis looked up my information based on my license plate to mail me a letter 2 months later asking that I once again pay the fee and an additional $55 as a notice fee otherwise they can tow/boot my car. When contacting them they continued to ask me for a receipt despite me already sharing the payment on my credit card. Why would anyone keep a parking receipt for over two months?

Metropolis made shopping at the Broadway Plaza in walnut Creek a nightmare. I spent 30 minutes figuring out how to use it. Fortunately I was done with my shopping before 3 hours when the charges start, because I couldn’t get to the point in the system to enter my credit card. I found the option only after I returned home. I will be curtailing my shopping future shopping trips to Broadway Plaza or parking elsewhere. What a waste of time!

METROPOLIS PARKING APP

I decided to leave a review, I parked at a Metropolis parking garage last month March. When I first encountered an issue, I sought help online, "I need help, I have metropolis open in safari webpage on my phone and it says my vehicle is still there I left at 6pm after spending 1.5 hours there, and it's 11pm as I type this." It's important to note that this parking garage allows 3 hours for free parking and then charges after. I then wrote this, "the metropolis app says my vehicle is still there when I am home several cities away someone help me it's trying to charge me more."I had gotten charged $9.99 two times and the app was in the process of charging me again once it sees my vehicle is no longer in the garage. Please note that their app opens on my safari page, on my phone, was still showing a live count that my vehicle was apparently there. You can watch in real time, the timer they have which counts the time once you arrive in the garage and scan their QR code and enter your information. That evening, I had to cancel my credit card for fraud by Metropolis, re-order a new card to be shipped. Update all my auto-pay accounts that were connected to that credit card. Drove to a grocery store to get a receipt with a date & time stamp showing I was indeed several cities away with my vehicle which should not be logged in their app as "still in the garage", I usually get to bed by 9:30pm and I was managing all this at midnight because I didn't want to sleep with this nightmare situation occurring. I didn't know if Metropolis was one of those scam QR codes and I fell victim.
