So disappointed!

So disappointed! I feel like I just experienced the old bait and switch. I explained what I wanted to move. Why has that cost more than doubled today after speaking with the £quality assurance team? I trusted Midland to give me an adequate quote. They are supposed to be the "experts". Now it's 6 days out, the cost skyrockets and they refuse to give my deposit back, not even a partial refund. Bad business! Shameful!

Do NOT use this company

Prior to her cross-country move, my daughter asked about insurance and was told it would be covered by homeowners insurance. This turned out to be a complete lie. They rescheduled her pick up multiple times which caused significant logistical issues. The guys who picked up her stuff seemed questionable. After they left, I noticed a full package of candy was missing from the counter, raising immediate concerns about their trustworthiness. For some reason, they said it was necessary to put her items in storage for 3 weeks, despite having an agreed upon delivery date. She moved to her new city and started her new job without her possessions. Twice she had a friend wait at her apartment for the movers but they never showed up as promised. She provided clear building access instructions in writing but they still showed up outside of the allowed time frame. As a result, her building superintendent publicly reprimanded her, causing significant distress. As a result of the rush to offload her items in the 20 minutes the superintendent allowed them and her state of distress, she did not notice that multiple items were missing-boxes, storage racks, a nightstand and more. Her dresser was broken and water-damaged beyond repair. The company claims they looked for her items but they responded so quickly there is no way they actually looked for anything. The value of the missing items is easily over $2000 but they offered her $150 stating that she did not purchase the insurance-only because they mislead her about its necessity. She accepted the offer out of frustration but despite sending emails and leaving phone messages over several months, they have yet to send the check. This company has demonstrated a blatant disregard for its customers, failed to uphold its promises (of a "painless move"), and mishandled both the logistical and ethical responsibilities of a professional moving company. They should refund the entire fee that she paid as they are in complete violation of their contract.

BEWARE!

Started off friendly enough. Charge by cubic foot moved, went through detailed estimation process. Then after they loaded my stuff, and driver told me bill would be 55% higher (44% on 'volume' 890% packing materials), and asked for a $5,300 check to continue the move. They have you! Tried to get answers on the discrepancies but they never returned my calls or emails. Stuff showed up in a different truck worse for the wear. Mirror smashed, chair missing, glasses broken. Offered $50. And funny, no customer satisfaction survey afterwards. Who doesn't do that? People who don't care, that's who!

Worse Moving Experience in over multiple moves

If there were a 1/2 Star rating, I would use that!!!Pros: Steve Graf seemed very helpful when booking our shipment and it appeared he applied as many discounts as could be applied (shipping cost was in excess of $5000 for non-premium add on shipping).Customer service/QC Frank was as helpful as possible with the service information available, and he did call us back twice once we were finally able to talk with a human being.CONS: 1. Upcharge at pickup due to under estimation during initial setup of contract ($600+)2.. Difficulty in contacting a human being to discuss delivery of household goods (finally we got in contact with Gary from customer service who was rude and was unable to tell us where our goods were or delivery date). We were told by the pickup team leader the HHGs were being immediately transferred to a delivery driver and would be delivered in 4-6 days).3. Tied our two mattresses onto the back of their completely filled box truck (which did not have the agreed upon spacing due to overfilling prior to our pickup).4. Midland uses contract personnel for outsourcing on pickup and delivery who care about being paid, but not overly concerned about your items.5. Packing of boxes by Midland resulted in one box containing our small appliances being packed without cushioning (all appliances broken).6. Delivery was 12 days after pickup and there was an upcharge for delivery ($285).7. As a NON PREIMIUM shipment, you are not guaranteed a pickup date, delivery date, a location of your goods, and damages are based on 60 cents per pound of each damaged item.8. The Damage to furniture was minor and we were able to repair ourselves (they don't care).Bottom LineSearch for a reliable and reputable shipper who is BBB certified and who won't take advantage of you - Midland Van Lines is not BBB certified and really doesn't seem to care.

Midland Van Lines is the worst moving…

Midland Van Lines is the worst moving company I’ve ever dealt with. While the sales rep, Steven, initially reassured us with reasonable pricing and delivery promises, everything fell apart after that. Frank, another representative, was shockingly rude—accusing me of being a fraud and dismissing issues as a "language barrier." Delivery, initially promised between November 22-24, was delayed to the 26th, and they called at 11 PM on the 24th with no explanation. When the movers finally arrived, they demanded an extra $2,000, claiming their "eye measurement" was better than the dimensions we had carefully provided. To top it off, the lock on the truck was frozen due to the cold.Customer service was equally unhelpful and rude. The delivery process dragged on for a month, with constant delays and hidden fees—charges for walking a meter, packaging, long rides, and more. It felt like they intentionally added costs at every step.To make matters worse, every person I dealt with was horrible: Steven, Chris, Frank, Jared W., and Mike provided the worst customer service imaginable. They were rude, unprofessional, and completely unhelpful. And the cherry on top—they broke most of the furniture! This company is nothing but a scam with deceptive practices and incompetent staff. Avoid Midland Van Lines at all costs!

CAUTION - NIGHTMARE with this company !!!

My wife received an estimate from Midlandvanlines for our move from Kansas, KS to Nashville, TN. James Lista was our contact person and asked for detailed information about our moving items over the phone. My wife provided a comprehensive list. After confirming the details, James called my wife around 9:00 pm on November 25, 2024, informing her that we needed to pay a deposit of $3,065 to reserve a truck. He emphasized the urgency due to the end-of-year and Christmas season, prompting my wife to immediately pay the deposit by photo check.During the estimation process, James focused solely on the detailed item list and quantities. He sent us a document for signature, which we reviewed without noticing the total estimated volume of 1,127 CuFT. Trusting the moving company's experience, we assumed this volume was accurate and signed the document. On December 7, 2024, just five days before our pick-up date, Gary Parker, who claimed to be James Lista’s boss, called to discuss the inventory list. He stated that the estimated volume of our moving items was significantly lower than normal for our 5,000 sqft house and asked us to pay almost three times the contract amount. Despite our assertion that the volume was calculated by James Lista, Gary repeatedly pointed out that we had signed off on the 1,127 CuFT estimate.Feeling upset, we requested a refund, but Gary insisted that refunds could only be issued if we cancelled the move seven days before the pick-up date. Since he had called us just five days prior, cancelling was not an option, which made it seem like a planned fraud. Unable to reach James Lista, we contacted Midlandvanlines' customer service. Gary called us back, stating that contacting customer service was pointless as he was the sole decision-maker in the company. On moving day, December 12, 2024, the moving truck arrived at 1:00 pm. The movers checked all our items against the list and demanded we pay three times the original contract amount, threatening to leave if we didn't comply. This turned our moving day into a nightmare. My wife and I felt this was a pre-planned fraud. We suspect that James Lista might not be a real person and that Gary Parker could be acting both roles. Their business model seems to involve: 1) proposing a low price with a virtual name, 2) getting the shipper to sign the contract and to pay the deposit, 3) contacting the shipper after the cancel grace period to demand a higher price, and 4) keeping the deposit without providing moving services if the shipper doesn’t agree to pay more.We WILL take LEGAL ACTION to recover the deposit, and any financial losses incurred if refunding and proper compensation is not made shortly.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I was given incorrect information from the beginning of this process in June, all the way to the very end in November. This company is completely incompetent in doing anything correctly. This entire thing was a headache. I could rarely get ahold of people. I dealt with Caleb, Gary, Thalia, and Frank. It would take multiple calls, emails, and texts to each person to even get a response days later.Eli, the foreman was nasty and aggressive when he arrived. He added $1k onto my price with cubic feet AND packing supplies which I had already provided. When I spoke with Frank at customer service to see why it was so much he kept talking over me rudely and repeating to me to read my contract and the fine print. He also kept asking me why I signed if I didn’t understand correctly.Eli asked me when I want the items to arrive. I said Friday 11/8, but then I also mentioned how I thought it takes up to 14 days. He said “No, I will get it there on this date.” When Friday came, I called customer service and was advised my items were in storage until 11/8 and how it takes 14 days from that date to arrive. I asked why I was told something else and he had nothing to say. When we finally got our items, we were charged an extra $16, even though we already paid during the first pickup. I understand it’s only $16, but it’s principle that this company will take and take and take any chance they get. They didn’t communicate it was already handled with Eli. The driver wouldn’t start until we paid it and no one from midland vans was answering numerous phone call attempts.Moving is stressful to begin with, and moving out of state is even worse. I highly recommend you do NOT use Midland Van Lines, it’s a complete crock, ran by crooks. They aren’t a moving company-they are a broker who sub out to others drivers, they do not own their own vans or have their own truck drivers. They claim they aren’t brokers, but they 100% are. Save the time and money and do yourself a huge favor and use another company!
