I schedule my pickup for May 31,2025 They came sunday after the original pickup time, which was 8am-12pm.THey didnt get there until after 3pm. So when the driver came to my house everything was fine until I showed him what was going on the truck. As i was telling him what to move he stated that i would be charged extra. So i ask him how much extra will it cost. He started getting an attitude and got mad because i ask a question about how much it would cost. SO i reach out to the rep and she ask the same question. HE got mad and stated that he is about to leave. I told him to do what he has to do. i called the company and told them i dont trust him to move my things. Then Rachel gets an attitude siding with the driver. i told her i would like my refund from my deposit. She stated that the refund for the deposit will not be refunded. PLEASE DONT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE YOU. THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!!!IM reporting them to the credit bureau..... THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE CORPORATE NUMBER EITHER...
I wish I'd read all the Yelp reviews here before i hired them. Luke Sullivan assured me that they don't hire other contractors for the move - that all staff are professional Midland employees. That wasn't the case - the movers were not professional, not experienced, and not careful. ANd like the others he made an estimate of my cubic feet based on the inventory and that was way LOW when it got in and they demanded an additional 4000 . And like the others, had to pay CASH on pickup - altho they said you could use a personal check, the mover said that will delay your delivery while we wait for your check to clear. On delivery, only cash. They broke a number of my pieces of antique furniture - and eith the pick up, storage or delivery guys broke off a piece of an antique dresser and tried to hide it by slopping white glue all over the piece - which has taken me many hours to carefully remove before I can replace th broken piece. The delivery supervisor said it should have been put in a box, not a wrapping cloth - but I am pretty sure didn't relate that to the company. FInally the delivery van on leaving drove through the grass in the center o the circle driveway, leaving big ruts and tearing out the grass, and broke 4 branches off a tree.
The company is a fraud. They state they are A + with BBB, but they are not affiliated. Read your contact thoroughly if you should decide to use them. Make sure the Dot numbers on all of your documents belong to Midland Van lines and not another moving company
Everything went wrong. It was a shakedown from the salesperson to the cancelled delivery. I was quoted a fee of $2500 on May 15, 2025 to send some furniture in addition to my baby grand piano. When the truck showed up 2 days late, they said they need to get a different truck. From Sacramento. I live on the coast. They then inform after loading up my furniture, that an additional $3500 is needed. At this point, what can I do. I write the check. They promised that it would be no more than 2-3 weeks. After 2 1/2 weeks pass, I left several voicemails before someone from Midland got back to me, and assured me that the shipment would be done asap.Another 2 weeks pass, and nothing from Midland. I call again several times without a call back. I texted that I feel that a theft had occurred and will be contacting the police. Midland called me right away apologizing for the delay, and the people who were handling my shipment are no longer with the company. They assured me that the furniture was in a storage facility in Sacramento and that it will be sent asap.Another several weeks pass and I tell them by phone and text that I will seek legal redress, and penalties.Someone new contacted me with the same story again about the previous people, who are no longer with the company.Back and forth over the next few months until I said that I will see you in court. Now they tell me in early Sept. 2025, that the furniture is on the road and will give me updates. The delivery is/was to my son in Omaha.Today, 9-16-2025 the driver calls and informs that there is a balance remaining of $1300. I tried to explain how Midland has been violating the agreed upon fee and delivery time and that I was assured by the dispatcher that there would no longer be any charges. So he had someone from dispatch call me to demand more money. Finally, they said if I don't pay, they will place the furniture in storage and charge me more money.I cannot wait to see these characters in court.
I just moved cross country from Philadelphia to Colorado. Looked for moving companies this past winter to try and prepare and maybe get a better rate. Contacted Midland van lines after a few google searches and reading websites and the customer service/sales person I talked to was great. He was very responsive and flexible and explained that because I booked in February, I’d get a discounted rate. A few days later I had a phone call for about 30 min. Where I went over all the inventory they should expect to pick up and move to calculate approximate square footage. I always oversell how much I have because I know boxes and things add up so I hold them in detail every piece of furniture from my 1-bedroom house and they quoted me around 8,000. I thought this is expensive but it’s cross country and for the ease of not having to transport all my things and drive a big truck on the highway it seemed necessary.2 more phone calls confirmed the inventory and estimate. Day of the move They loaded the truck and found that the space needed was roughly 50% more than originally quoted moving the sum to over $12000. But at this point it was either pay the extra $4000 or lose the $3500 deposit I had paid.I left on Thursday and arrived on Saturday and then the communication was almost non-existent. someone called me 14 days later telling me that they’d be there in a few days. then they asked me if an 18 wheeler would fit in my lot and I said i don’t know and warned them of a sharp turn to get into the lot.3 days later (3rd Sunday after the move) they arrive with an 18 wheeler and say that because it can’t fit in the lot, I have two options:1. Go myself to rent a smaller U-Haul/truck and they will load things onto it, but then I have to drive it to my apartment and unload everything myself (I am not strong enough to move my furniture by myself) or2. Pay $1200 for them to go rent a smaller truck and shuttle the stuff for me from the 18 wheeler to my apartment. So the original total of $8000 is now $13000.Last kicker and most devastating is that I’m a jeweler and the only box missing was the one with all my jewelry and metal work from the last decade. Easily over $35,000 in value and they couldn’t help at all. Just told me to file a police report.
If I could give this company zero Stars I would. First of all Adrian at Midland Van lines was not honest when he booked the move he booked for half the space then they use the company called ASAP Van lines who charged twice as much on the day for a move that I had done previously for $7000 less. They also forced me to pay $1,000 for a shuttle. They broke off my stuff and did not deliver most expensive items including expensive equipment. They promised to deliver it the day after and I was forced to keep calling customer service to no avail. This is not a company that could be trusted for moving as they destroy your most expensive items and do not deliver the rest. They care only about money not about the customer.
Midland Van Lines has only delivered 1 of 2 trucks with our belongings, and will not give us an ETA for the delivery of the remaining items. We have paid in full for pickup and delivery, for both truckloads. It has been 3 weeks past the agreed upon delivery date. Customer Service says they have to get the ETA from Dispatch, and Dispatch will not return calls or emails (nor answer the phone).
DO NOT USE MIDLAND VAN LINES.I was completely taken advantage of and scammed by this company. I booked a move for one 3-piece sofa and three glass cabinets. I gave exact dimensions and weights to James Listen, who quoted me $2,814.44 and promised to be there “every step of the way.” That changed the moment I paid the deposit. We agreed the furniture would be picked up between 3/28–3/30. On 3/28, James called and said it might not happen until 4/1. I followed up that afternoon—no response. On 3/29, I spoke with customer service who said they’d reach out to James and call me back. They didn’t. Finally on 3/30, Leo called to verify the order and set a pickup for 3/31. Still not what we agreed to, but better than 4/1. The crew showed up late, but they came. Then came the scam: after pickup, Leo called and said James hadn’t quoted enough cubic feet, and now I owed $4,881.44—an increase of $2,067. This is how they get you. Their scam is simple: they ask for your item dimensions, convert them to cubic feet, and put that number in the contract. Then after pickup, they tell you your quote didn’t include enough space, so you owe more. Even though I gave the exact measurements, I was told James only quoted us for 300 cubic feet, and our items took up “more.” As a first-time shipper, I didn’t even think to double-check the contract for cubic feet. I assumed James did his job. When I asked to speak with James, I was told by Sandra and Joe that he was on vacation. I explained the situation and said I was happy to wait for James to return. Joe said he’d check with his manager—then Leo called again. I told Leo the problem started with James, not him, and I just wanted to speak to the person who booked this and put down the wrong info. Leo got increasingly aggressive and said unless I paid, my items wouldn’t be delivered. They held our belongings hostage and left us no choice but to pay the second installment of $1,851.40 on 4/5. I asked for the name, license, and number of the delivery driver—Leo laughed and refused. At this point, I realized I was dealing with a well-practiced scam operation.I called Frank in customer care on 4/7 to confirm the payment had gone through. He verified it had, but said the items weren’t in transit and couldn’t give me an ETA. I reminded him James promised delivery 3–5 days after pickup. Frank said he’d confirm and get back to me—he never did.On 4/12, Christian called to confirm the address and schedule delivery for the next morning—despite promising 24 hours’ notice. We pushed it to 4/14 at 8am. Delivery happened, but one glass cabinet arrived damaged. At least Christian confirmed the final payment amount—$1,717.55—in advance, the only thing that was accurate in this whole process. So what started as a $2,814.44 quote ended with a $4,881.44 bill—$2,067 more than agreed, thanks to deceptive tactics, poor communication, and threats.Everyone I dealt with—James, Leo, Sandra, Joe, Frank, and Christian—played a role in the bait-and-switch. They act helpful until you question the charges, then pressure you with threats of non-delivery.The good reviews? Likely fake or buried. Their entire scam is built around quoting low, underestimating cubic feet, and forcing you to pay once your items are on their truck.Avoid Midland Van Lines at all costs. They are dishonest, manipulative, and not to be trusted.
-The estimate was completley wrong. Not even close. They lock you in with a low offer and then raise the price holding your goods hostage. -Items were lost and damaged totaling $500. They company is not responding to e-mails about it. - Delievery date was off by weeks.- Hidden fees and post contract fees!! at the time of delivery, they charged all these additional hidden fees and threatened to keep your goods if you don't pay.
