This email to Tom Segura of Midland Van Lines pretty much sums up their business ethics…
“Tom,
It’s pretty genius, but I never heard of it - change order moving service? The problem is you didn’t specify the right sized truck. Matter of fact you weren’t even close. I had to rent a 15x10 U-Haul today and loaded to it to the gills with my wife which is 52 like me. You could have made even more money? Moving forward try to be better at your job for the sake of considering other humans. I work in the commercial roofing industry as a material salesman and GC and I treat my customers like gold and never do business with contractors who play the change order game. In summary, be a better person or maybe go work for a company that has higher standards and learn what that looks like.”
Additionally, at delivery we had multiple items that were damaged and missing.
STAY AWAY FROM MIDLAND VANLINES
Beware: Bait and Switch. I signed a binding contract to move from one state to another. A week before the move, they texted me at 10.24 pm on a Friday night. Then called me the following day at 3.25 pm demanding an increase of up to $7,000. When I refused to be extorted and cancelled, they stopped answering emails and phone calls. They have withheld my deposit. I have filed with the NY Attorney General at this time. Do not trust their "binding" estimates, they will wait until you are vulnerable to hike the price by thousands.
The initial call to arrange everything was very professional and thorough. However, everything that followed turned into a nightmare. There was a lack of communication, and they misrepresented delivery times for the furniture. They rely on third-party contractors for their work, which leads to a common response to complaints: 'we have no record of this customer.' It took them three months to deliver our furniture. When I called for updates, I was often transferred to dispatch, who rarely answered. When they did, they were dishonest. I could go on, but the bottom line is to steer clear of this company. Avoid it at all costs. The stress we experienced was immense. I even consulted a lawyer about a possible class action lawsuit, and if it had taken another month, I would have reported them to the local authorities, especially after seeing similar complaints from others. It felt like they scammed us and took our money without delivering.
My experience with the service was far from positive. There were hidden fees and misleading information that added unnecessary stress to my move. Given this situation, I think customers might find better outcomes with a different moving provider.
If I could give negative stars, I certainly would. About a year and a half ago, I was exploring various moving options and submitted my number for a quote. That turned out to be a huge mistake. After my moving plans were canceled, I repeatedly informed the representatives who kept calling me. As months went by, I simply ignored their calls, which became increasingly annoying due to their frequency. I even pleaded with them to remove me from their list and blocked three different numbers related to the service. Despite reaching out via email to request removal from all call lists since I have no intention of moving, I received no response. Now, I receive calls three times a week, and they hang up before I can answer. It’s incredibly frustrating. Just today, they called me and hung up twice within three minutes. When I called back, I expressed my extreme annoyance and demanded that my number be removed, but the representative claimed she had no authority and hung up on me. This situation is driving me crazy. Avoid sharing your contact information, even for a quick quote. It feels like my personal nightmare.

I found the service to be no different from the discount brokers I had previously avoided. On the day of loading, I was charged $350 for tape to secure protective blankets. Despite being told I would only pay for the volume shipped, there were no provisions for collecting for a smaller shipment. The original driver agreed to a volume of 85 cuft ($550) less than the estimate, but despite my repeated attempts, I received no credit. I discussed my address on Google Earth with the sales team and was assured there would be no delivery issues. However, two days before delivery, I was informed it would cost an extra $500 for a shuttle due to access issues with their large truck. How many residential areas can they really access with such a large vehicle? Once the pickup was completed, reaching administrative support was impossible. I advise steering clear of this service!
The sales representative was very charming but ultimately manipulative. He misled me about the handling of my goods. Please, avoid this service at all costs. They hold your belongings for as long as it benefits them and fail to communicate about their location. By the time they do, you’ll have incurred multiple storage charges. It’s a scam!
