• Here is my recent experience at a large NHS hospital, where I spent two weeks in the extreme trauma ward, due to a serious road traffic accident. I am not writing this to complain about the NHS as a whole, but just their choices of who they employ. I am as we all are that they are under pressure and short staffed, but they do seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. However I had 2 terrible experiences that are still giving me nightmares. The first was early one morning when this youth was on his rounds taking blood pressures, I obviously I was not waking up quickly enough for him, because, suddenly I was awaken by a sharp shooting pain in my arm that was already broken in four places and in plaster only to see this youth yanking my arm towards him to get the BP machine connected. Of course I screamed in agony and gave him a few choice words for his complete stupidity. • The other occasion was at 2am, when I needed to go to the bathroom and needed help getting out of the bed. I had several broken ribs amongst other things and three tubes attached. So I called out to the nurse on duty, I need some help, to which he replied shouting and I kid you not, Who the fxxx do you think you are asking me for help, do you think I am here to fxxxing help you, help your fxxxing self. I lied there for a few minutes, trying to absorb what I had heard from this nurse, but I still needed to get to the bathroom, so tried to get out of bed myself, he then laughed and said you cant can you because of all the tubes, then laughed again. I tried to pull myself up using the rail on the bed, when I felt my recently operated on coller bone brake. The nurse then shouted down the corridor for another nurse to help me, fortunately a nice Nepalese girl, who then took me to the X-ray dept, where they confirmed that my collar bone fix had broken and still is to this day, it could not be repaired. • This nurse was in his mid 60s and I can only assume that he had not worked in a normal hospital for all those years and had got away with that kind of behaviour for so long, so can only assume that he had been working at somewhere like broadmore or some similar institution. I had also observed the night before that he was drinking whisky from one of those small hip flask shaped bottles. I did of course make complaints to other nurses and one other higher up, but they were only concerned about the whisky. I know that they have heard him shouting and swearing at patients before, I had heard him myself from another ward on 3 other occasions. A year later most of my injuries have improved, however my head injuries seem to be long lasting and now suffer from PTSD from this experience on a daily experience.
I was admitted to the North Middlesex University Trust Hospital. I was given medication when I was allowed to go home. The doctors only put one of the tablets on my nhs record. The anti seizure medication I've been taking since it was first prescribed to me after having a brain haemorrhage in March 2017 isn't showing on my record. However the thiamine hydrochloride which I wasn't already taking has been added so now after speaking to the North Middlesex University Trust Hospital they want me to drive to have a blood test to even then wait for the results to add my anti seizure medication so I can get a prescription for it. Which based on the fact that the specialist at the hospital said my doctors shouldn't have stopped my prescription for the anti seizure medication. Which on my doctors fit note I have to inform dvla and advised not to drive 6 to 12 months
Literally just put the phone down after speaking to some rude man at primary care . I was trying to explain things in detail to him and I could hear him muttering under his breath " oh my God" and sighing in a clearly impatient manner. Who do you people think you actually are? If there were no sick people then there would be no need for the NHS! yes I fully understand how over worked and underpaid you are however that is not an an excuse for appalling manners. You expect politeness from your users yet you feel entitled enough to speak in a rude manner to us .absolutely not acceptable. Time of call was 15.23
Don't work for Eastleigh South Health Visiting Team. This department is full of back stabbers and bullies (not everyone but enough to make this department the worst place I have ever worked at in my life). I can't believe that these people don't answer to anyone. The line manager doesn't do anything to deal with these things. She claims to, but ignored my issues I bought to her. There are elements of discrimination playing a part too. As someone with a physical and medical disabilities, I felt victimised here. The line manager doesn't care about band 3,4 or 5 staff, she only cares about her health visitors, band 6 staff and in case a parent complains. The NHS hides behind it's policy's to screw people over. How can they help? You can ask this of them, but they don't want to help anyone. It's all about them in the end. People are human and it's human nature to make mistakes. No matter how upset I got, they didn't give a f...k about me. They didn't care about how it affected my mental health or my physical and medical issues. They behaved shockenly especially as they are so called registered nurses/ health visitors. My so called line manager ignored my issues involving bullying claims but actually took the word of the bully herself. I have been treated shockingly by her and she hid in her office like the coward she is. I would never admit to hating someone but the way I have been treated by her, makes me rethink this claim. I will never forgive them and carma comes around to those who deserve it. I wish I was there to witness it. I know I made a mistake but if people were given second chances then maybe staffing issues would not be so massive within the NHS. How much money does the NHS waste investigating staff, this is tax payers money at the end of the day. I wish I could mention names because there doesn't seem to be any come back on what they do. I wish more people could access the truth to read about what's actually going on in departments within the NHS. People have a right to know. I am also very aware that the NHS does alot for patients as well but unfortunately in this case as an employer, it has failed.
Just wanted to say that Inverness A and E department is a complete shambles. I went there last night as I have a big lump above my belly button. I sat there for nearly 5 hours and ten people came in after me and all got seen to first. Disgusting staff very rude. Avoid this place!
A big thank you to the NHS, people are quick to slag them off but credit where it's due.I was treated at Darent Valley Hospital A&E yesterday. I was taken in by ambulance after calling 111 to report that I had chest pains and history of previous heart attack in 2017. I dialled 111 and the phone was answered within 10 minutes. I was given some advice after she had told me an ambulance was on route. It arrived within 15 minutes. I was given an ECG and left connected to the machine. As they were doing other checks, the machine spat out another print out. Apparently it does that if there's a change in the ECG. They decided to take me up to DVH Dartford. The ECG machine was left on and again it printed out another one. As we pulled up at the hospital, same thing happened again!I was taken straight through to A&E, bloods taken and was seen by a doctor within the hour. A chest x-ray was ordered and I only had to wait 20 minutes for the porter to take me. Bit of a backlog at x-ray but not too bad. Arrived there at 16:02 and discharged at 20:50. Diagnosed with an angina attack.
