I will never advise hotel booking on Orbitz. First of all, I prepaid the whole thing on the condition that I can change or cancel. But when it comes time to change, they will not honor it. Instead of agreeing to change the check in date like a normal operator, they insist on canceling the whole booking and making a brand new booking—which means much higher price and screwing the customer. I was astounded how they don’t care one bit about customer or honoring their commitment (I’ve been one for almost 2 decades). And the customer service has degraded so much. They don’t even bother to list a phone number—just “virtual assistant” that cannot help you in real time.
They lie about change of tickets. I had the misfortune to purchase a ticket for my last trip and I needed to change my date for return. Upon talking to one of their agents, they said the change had a fee of 150$ (when they asure you they don't charge fee for changing your ticket) and that they couldn't do it because they had no access to my ticket so I had to contact the airline directly, which is what I did to then find out, the only people who could change my ticket was Orbitz. I contacted them again and now they were asking $700USD for a change of ticket saying is the airlines policy... By the way, buying a new ticket is $550USD. they are thiefs. Once they have your money they don't care about you. Avoid this company. Worst experience and worst customer service I've ever had. NEVER AGAIN!.....
I purchased a package for Me and my wife for a funeral. Through orbit The first reservation, the company's website. Book me to California and back in the same day. I picked up on it and canceled it the second time. I booked everything look fine. Went Print My tickets today.I noticed my name. my tickets On both tickets And my wife's name was not on any of them.I contact the company. They told me they could not correct the name On the ticket that I would have to cancel the ticket. Charging me $200 more for the new ticket. I purchased insurance in case anything went wrong and charged me. Another $200 to correct it. Please be careful with this company
Rented a Eurocar in Italy thru Orbitz in June 2023. My credit card was overcharged $75.00 from original booking confirmation from Orbitz. Spent over an hour talking to Orbitz customer service agent located in Egypt tryiing to get an explanation and a refund. The agent finally told me he could not help me with the overcharge problem and I would have to call the rental company. No longer will rent thru a third party.
We had to three-way call in an airline representative to explain to the Orbitz agent that we were allowed to make changes and that there were flights available to book the changes. Only then were we able to actually get our flight rebooked. Seriously. Book directly with the airline. It costs less. You will see more flight options. The features and restrictions of the tickets will be more transparent. Finally, in my experience the airlines are more helpful when you need assistance. And *that's* a pretty low bar that Orbitz fails to clear. I've been an Orbitz user since late 2001. I'm out.
