Patreon customer service is the worst in the world. Somehow they duplicated my account and charged me double. I notified them straight away with proof of the double charges and asked them to cancel this duplicate account and refund the charge. They told me the issue was I was billed for last month and this month on the same day and was a correct charge. I honestly don't think Eleina (their customer service person) even read my email and just sent a standard email response. I proceeded to email her back to clarify and never got another response even after six emails chasing this up. I contacted support again through the patreon website and it was more of the same but from different staff (Sai and Alex). Incorrect information. No responses. Generic responses that focused on just part of my email ignoring my refund and cancellation requests. They refused to have a manager contact me. I have now been charged double three months in a row and I asked them to cancel all of my accounts/subscriptions after I realised how pathetic their service is months ago so I shouldn't have been been charged even the first charge. No refunds. No apologies. No support to find out how to stop this. I've gone to PayPal and lodged disputes. Patreon owe me refunds for seven charges in total and have wasted almost three months of time now. They have no phone number and staff ignore emails they can't be bothered responding to. I will be telling everyone how terrible they are.
Awful customer service, requested a refund as I didn’t understand how Patreon works. Subscribed 20/04/23 for £10 and got charged again 01/05/23 for £10 again, which I was not expecting. Patreon have refused a refund despite me not actually using the service from 01/05/23. Particularly despicable as they’re obviously refunding others for the same reasons - as I’ve read on TrustPilot reviews.
Forces me to pay money to cancel a membership. Extremely scummy.Edit: Issue got resolved after contacting their support. But one shouldn't have to contact support in order to avoid being forced to renew payment method when cancellation of a membership doesn't involve any sort of payment in the first place. Therefore i'm leaving the review up for now.
It's ridiculously difficult deleting one's Patreon account. Also, some third party apparently has the information, and they have to be dealt with, as well. This is not made plain, even concealed, in signing up initially. I would not be surprised if that results in fines and legal action in Europe, where privacy is taken seriously.
Worst customer service I've ever experienced - severe lack of content from creator when signing up so instantly requested a refund, no response from creator so took this up with Patreon support. Took multiple chases to get anything out of them, which led to then being fobbed off with a refund form, surprise surprise no response until I raised a PayPal claim, they were quick to reply then with "not in our refund policy".Do not touch Patreon with a barge pole, rip off and shoddy customer service.
I had no idea why Patreon had charged me an initial $1 which was set to repeat monthly. I was not aware I had joined Patreon, had no email confirmation trail helping confirm any such history. When I went into Patreon, nothing in its dashboard showed that I was following any creator or receiving any service at all. There was no visible route to finding out what I was paying for. After I first left this review, it turned out a family member had set up the account using my cached payment details... I contacted Patreon support and they were quick to respond and cancel the payment. So, low marks for clarity about payments on the user portal, but high marks for support response.
Took my money but at the same time it tells me it wasn’t enough to access the course. I didn’t enter an amount. The program entered $12, charged me $12 and then tells me that the tier payment must be $13.50 to access course with no option to change payment. After too many times of similar ordeals it’s just not worth the stress. Customer service is practically nonexistent. I love some of the creators on Patreon but the platform itself is so bad and so easy to get into a tangled mess that I talk myself out of using it just to spare myself the headache that I know will follow. This time I deleted the app for good. When will companies realize that a great product with horrible customer service doesn’t last.
