Not as it seems

On arrival the reception looked stunning. The reception girls were very polite and friendly. Got given our room 211 to go up and we were very underwhelmed the room just looked very dated and looked like I could do with a good scrub. The floor we were on were finger tips length away from two other rooms one being the nosiest room I’ve ever come across and that’s with going to magaluf and Benidorm one man did apologise but the girl said she wasn’t sorry and there would be more noise. Back in the room I noticed my feet were wet to find that the floor was leaking!!! Went to reception they sent the lovely maintenance man up who claimed it was because the floor was in desperate need of repair and that’s coming from a staff member and because of that when the cleaners mop the floor was acting like a sponge. We got moved rooms which the room was definitely an upgrade still with the jacuzzi bath which is what we paid for only to make it the plug doesn’t stay in so the water was constantly draining and the jacuzzi but doesn’t even flipping work absoloute shiitee show if you closed your eyes and listened to the noise around in the hotel you would think you are in Benidorm with how chavy and dated it actually is

Couldn't sleep at all because of the fridge.

The location of this hotel is excellent, the staff are lovely. We didn't eat here so can't comment. The shower was amazing but I hardly slept at all due to the fact the room has a really noisy fridge within the room and because of this I will definitely NOT be staying again.

So different to last time

So different to last time. And the visit was for my wifes birthday and our anniversary. Can't believe the small amount for the £50 we paid for afternoon tea. Others read this lovely hotel and staff but avoid afternoon tea never had a bad one any where else. Ripe of will not have it again. May try the early bird next time.

Date night away from the kids.

We stayed for 1 night, being liverpool locals, we were looking forward to a nice stay in a nice hotel. How wrong we were. We stayed in 309. The laminate was coming up from the floor, the lamp shades were thick with dust and very bobbly, the jacuzzi bath was freezing, wallpaper peeling off the walls.... I would like to say I had a good night's sleep, but I didn't. 2 single beds pushed together with a well worn springy mattress topper on top. Even the TV was disconnected from the aerial, like they haven't or won't pay their TV license..... avoid.

Wouldn't recommend, 0 star!

Wouldn't recommend! Was looking forward to our stay, the pictures look amazing and what reviews i had seen were good. However on arrival the toilets were filthy, when checking in the staff were just stood chatting then once checked in the lady didn't inform us on which elevators to take so had to walk the long way round. The room look okay at first glance, but with a closer look the laminate flooring was all splitting and coming up. The lampshades were thick with dust and the curtains hanging off which caused light to come in early morning. We was attracted by the spa bath for a romantic break, after running the jets the grime that came out was disgusting. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at.

Ruined our anniversary, Learnt looks can be deceiving with this hotel.

We booked a 2 night stay for our anniversary, we were greeted by welcoming staff and the reception looked lovely, however, we learnt very quickly that looks can be very deceiving with this hotel. We used the jacuzzi bath which when full was covered in grime and dirt, within an hour of being in the room the ceiling started leaking heavily and flooded the bathroom, which we were then later told that it had collapsed not long after they moved us. Going into our second room, all seemed well until the following day when the electricity and heating was cut off from 8am, the staff said that this would be sorted, yet when we got back from being out in the freezing cold all day, we still returned to a cold room with no electricity or heating for at least another 4 hours (we got back around 3/4), we were unable to use the drink making facilities or charge our nearly dead phones, the receptionist offered us another room change if the issue wasn’t fixed. To make it worse each time we left our room our key card stopped working, resulting in me and my partner repeatedly going up and down the stairs (from the third floor) to reception to sort this issue. After sorting out the problem with the electricity and heating we decided to watch the TV, but this did not work and would keep turning off. Same issue with the jacuzzi bath as the other room, but all lasted about 30 mins as the plug must’ve been broken/damaged as the water was slowly draining. Me and my partner could’ve had a better nights sleep on the side of a mountain as the first night I was woken up to banging on a door, this scared me and I woke my partner before someone started shouting and banging more on one of the doors next to our room for at least 20 minutes. Our second night was exactly the same, more people were banging on the doors, even messing with our door handle, luckily this wasn’t as long and stopped after around 5-10 mins. As we were checking out the receptionist asked how our stay was and we were honest to say that it was awful, she called the manager to come and speak to us, we then waited in the reception over 20 minutes for the manager who never came, so we ended up leaving. Unfortunately, this ruined our anniversary and overall trip to liverpool, as it was our first time staying in the city.

We had a two night stay for birthday celebrations , we certainly were not disappointed! The food was great , the staff were so friendly and attentive , large clean comfy rooms , which had maid service daily ! Couldn't have had a party experience like it anywhere else ! All seven of us loved it . Also great Central base .

First of all this hotel should be…

First of all this hotel should be downgraded to a two star. It is VERY tired looking hotel. You are better off with a premier inn or travel lodge,. Experience - 0Breakfast - 0Beds - 5tv -5 (as you are watching it freezes and switches off)No room servicesOverall worst experience of my life, wasted £280 for a night and this does not include breakfast. Happy to share picture. Very disappointed. Spoke to reception staff re my of my disappointment of the room, all I got was" that's what you are allocated". No apologises. breakfast £15 per head but chef can't Carter to peoples request! Seriously you should employ a new chef! I can go on. My birthday weekend was ruined. Mentioned that to the staff - NIL care. So if you just want to get pi@@@ed and need bed then this is the place, but if you want an experience please don't stay HERE

Very disappointed by the Bastion…

Very disappointed by the Bastion Restaurant at the Shankly Hotel. Firstly, I found the online booking facility really difficult to use - it was stuck right in the bottom of the screen and wouldn't let me scroll down to the time we wanted - so I rang. We booked a table for 2 at 6pm and I was told it was all booked in.We arrived on the dot of 6pm - when I checked the time on my phone I realised I'd missed a call from them at 5.45pm, when we were already on our way. At the reception desk, three members of staff just about managed to stop their conversation so I could give my name. 'Oh, we've got a tour group coming in - we really needed you here half an hour ago. I'll check with the chef...' comes back 'If you follow me, we can do you one course and we'll need the order in 5 minutes.' At that point, we left. The time to tell me they needed us at our table before 5.30pm was last night when I made the booking. I don't believe a 'tour group' books in last minute - surely they knew about it last night? At worst, they could have rung some time this afternoon. They had no idea how far we'd travelled, what other plans we might have had, or if it was a special occasion. We didn't even get an apology.Needless to say, we won't be going back.
