Have a booking for 26th January which was bought by son for my Christmas present, after 13 attempts over 4 days at ringing somene finally answered only to be told point blank that I cannot change the date as I am unable to go (my son booked ad a surprise) Absolutely appalling in the current climate, have stayed many times before but will definitely not be booking or recommending to anyone, Shankly Hotel you should be ashamed!!!!
Sadly it's not possible to leave a minus in the star rating.Booked a Luxury suite, 4 Female guests Christmas shopping trip.On arrival immediately clear it wasn't a service with a smile from reception staff who simply couldn't be bothered.Hallways filthy overpowering smell of damp. Very poorly lit assume to dull the view of the filthy conditions.1st suite Smell hit the second the door was opened into the Damp musty room. Waste used tissue all over the floor.Floor lifting literally everywhere (assume previous flood damage)Only lighting that worked was bathroom and a lamp. (Had to leave bathroom door open just to see given we arrived just after 6pm it was already dark)No heating working. One bed throw covered in blood (yes we have pictures and video)Decor a disgrace wallpaper peeling off. Old battered painted unit with no handles on drawfronts displaying a filthy kettle and broken lamp. One bedside cabinet for the whole room displaying a lamp (The only working lighting) Curtains hanging down from rails. Tiebacks missing bar 1.Cheap argos mdf oak effect single wardrobe (Doors don't close) Concealing a filthy tray with 3 filthy cups and a solitary glass.Attempted to use double socket for phone charger The whole socket sunk into the wall. Bathroom equally oozing luxury with it's Grim Wash basin full of hair, un emptied waste bin, Evident dust and filth thick enough to leave fingerprints in.Again assume the lack of lighting a ploy to disguise the condition of the so called Luxury suite.Called to reception on hold forever only to be transferred to a partner hotel who advised they would have shankly manager call us straight back (Still waiting)Went to reception Staff beyond rude, Completely not interested at all Ask for management receptionist then makes a call returns to advise someone is going to inspect the suite.Left our luggage while attending a reservation 2 hours later we received a call to advise we'd been moved to another suite with a complimentary kitchen. (Like anyone on a shopping trip requires the use of a kitchen and should be thrilled at the thought)Return to Hotel (Use that term in jest In reality the place bares a striking resemblance to a 1970's Blackpool B&B)Second Suite... Well initially thought it a jokeEqually filthy Floor lifting everywhere Curtains hanging by a thread, Lighting again barley evident. Kitchen & Bathroom nothing whatsoever at windows passers-by actually waving at my Granddaughter. No heating. Carpet in bedroom so badly stained it was beyond disgusting (We covered it with the horrendous bed throws which were clearly unwashed evident by the smell from them)Party of 4 unable to sleep as absolutely Freezing not helped by the 6 huge windows in the bedroom so poorly Maintained the wind whistles though them And No working heating.Granddaughter did eventually fall asleep only to wake at 3am Freezing We left at 7am and not a second to soon.To sum up Dangerous Electrical sockets. The place is Filthy Actually it's beyond Filthy, It's Freezing. Dilapidated & In a shocking state of disrepair.Floor lifting throughout to the point you repeatedly trip.Staff simply not interested.SHAME on the NEW OWNERSThis was once a beautiful hotel (Yes we have stayed many times year on year)The New owners have shamelessly run this place into the ground. We were actually told by several members of lovely retail staff that a petition is underway Backed by the police and local council to have the place closed down Apparently numerous stabbings a week on the rooftop bar is the norm. The place is known locally for stabbings Fights Drugs etc. All the retail and Restaurant staff we spoke to gave the same damming review of the place If anyone from Management would like to view our pictures do let me know 😊 POTENTIAL GUESTS HONESTLY I'D ADVISE TO STAY WELL CLEAR
Our friend had booked the Laurent Perrier suite for her birthday, for 24 of us. She frequents the shankly a couple of times a year. She always boasts what a fabulous hotel it is with drinks on arrival, a fabulous greeting, amazing service and fantastic rooms. Unfortunately on this occasion she couldn’t have been more wrong. When we arrived the receptionist Adam was stern, very unwelcoming and asked for the booking details and Identification. The birthday girl realised she’d unfortunately forgotten her ID. His response instead of trying to rectify it and help our party was along the lines of.. nothing we can do, you’ll have to leave. As you can imagine we all very upset be this and offered up all our IDs and we’re all dismissed being told it had to be under the booking name. The room had already been paid for so we asked if we could transfer the booking into another member of the parties name.. again unhelpful he said no! We asked if the manager was available.. 5 minutes later we’re still waiting getting nowhere. I asked politely if a manager was on their way. He flung his arms in the air and shouted why’s everyone having a go at me. (Somebody is on the wrong job)The majority of us are business owners or work in customer facing industries so know how to deal with people.. so at no point did anyone raise their voice or have a go at him. At this point a young girl Sophie had come out of the back and was trying to rectify the situation. Another member of our party ended up paying over a £1000 deposit and putting the booking in her name. (A week later this still hasn’t been returned) The sales and marketing manager then came down to reception to speak to us, walking past us and behind reception and into the back office first. The rest of the girls went up to the room. We explained what had happened, and that it could have been quickly resolved with out the bad attitude of the receptionist.. who at this point is stood behind the manager raising his eyebrows and laughing. We’re we’re told he would be dealt with and to enjoy our evening. Upon entry to the room which looks amazing.. the damp smell hits you right in the face! They sent some one up to fill the large bath. And then brought up some Prosecco with a guy to fix the music speaker.. this would have been a great touch however 24 women were getting changed and this random guy was walking round the entire suite. The floor round the bath is tiled but doesn’t drain well so you literally step out of your bed into huge puddles. Also one of the ground floor bathrooms leaks from the ceiling if the above is in use with the shower!
This hotel now has new owners and it is not the hotel it once was. Customer service is appalling. The rooms stink, floor was slippy and nearly broke our necks. No effort made for birthdays anymore, no atmosphere in the hotel, just rude staff. They also took £1000 from my friends bank card which still hasn't been returned a week later. We have phoned a few times but got no where so are now having to report them through the bank.I will not be returning and I'll be sticking with Signature Living the previous owners hotels.
Hi, I booked the shankley Saturday 8th October 2022, I paid £169.00 for 1 night. We was really looking forward to a hotel stay at the shankley in Liverpool. When we arrived to our room 201 we was absolutely horrified to fine our room so dirty and poor maintenance. I have sent 2 emails now!! But I’ve just been ignored. The staff on reception was not helpful at all!
This is the email we sent to the Shankly after our stay on 27th August and nobody has replied.Hi I would like to seriously complain about the level of the flooring on the 3rd floor outside our room 318 this evening. My friend has literally fell on the floor due to your uneven flooring in the hallway. She has seriously hurt her ankle and reported this to the manager who has accompanied her back to the 3rd floor to assess the situation. The manager has sincerely apologised and advised that the accident will be on C C T V. She was given some ice as she didn't feel she needs to go to hospital but she is in extreme pain and her ankle is swollen. The incident has been logged in the accident book and he advised he would agree to mark the area with a wet floor sign to avoid anyone else hurting themself. Which he has done. Please note my friend was wearing flat shoes and was not inebriated in the slightest. Can I also just add that we visited the 6th floor roof top bar earlier this afternoon and was appalled at the absolute state of the uneven artificial turf which covered the whole floor and was all in agreement that this is an absolute accident waiting to happen. Also the disgusting state of the seating on the roof top bar is appalling. This has been the 2nd time we have stayed at the Shankly Hotel with a negative experience but having one of our friends hurt is totally unacceptable. When we stayed at the hotel the first time, the our room was in such a disgusting state that the manager offered us another stay at the Shankly Hotel a reduced price in order for us to have the full advertised experience the Shankly Hotel which we sincerely hoped would be the case. This has not happened as our new room 318 was only marginally cleaner than our last room. Clearly no improvements have been made to the Shankly Hotel. The room and furniture is threadbare and shabby. The windows and are absolutely disgustingly dirty. Video evidence has been taken.I look forward to your prompt response in order to avoid any legal action being taken.Kind regards
Really bad, we stayed a short while back and the room seemed a little under the weather but bar a very long wait for food in their restaurant on the first night it wasn't awful. Fast forward to yesterday and we were passing Liverpool on our way home so thought it would be a good stop over. What a mistake, this time the room looked like it had recently been flooded with the floor swollen at the seams, mould in the bathroom, dust and dirt on the air con vents and it generally felt dirty and run down. We were very unhappy and it felt dirty and we almost left, and would have if we had not been so tired. Never again for us. I see this is a pattern with reviews on here and we're not alone.
Went on hen do here 12th August. The room was dirty and dusty. Mould on side of bed and on bed throw. The jacuzzi bath spat what looked like hairs all over me.The halls smelt like drains and on Sunday morning rubbish and used drinks cups all on stairs.Water or I think it was water in corridor by our room. No soft drinks offered on bottomless brunch. The breakfast was bad, very little hot vegetarian apart from egg and coffee tasted like dirt. Had cook own toast and pancakes in small toaster which only cooked one side and queue for it took ages. Not what I expected from high class hotel. I have pictures but can put them on.
hi all the Shankly hotel is amazing just had 2 nights there in an accessible room ,the breakfast is the best £10 you will ever spend, unfortunately we booked an evening meal for 715 pm ,we was seated straight away and ordered of the 3 course set meal £30 per person very reasonable i thought ,our starters was delivered to us and was beautiful , about an hour later a man brought over our sweet we said we haven't had our mains yet mate , he took them away saying he was sorry he would sort it , then a young lady came over to us and apologised and said she would get us a complementary drink we said thank you and of she went after a further 30 min still not had our drinks ,our meals finally turned up cold the cabbage wasn't even cooked but everything else was cold after calling a chap over to complain he said would we like to order something else of the menu we ordered simple fish and chips i asked were our drinks are they were still on the bar ,he went and got our drinks , the fish and chips came and was very nice ,we waited another 30 min and our sweets came and guess what it was the original sweets the brought us an hour and an half ago , we new it had just been put in a microwave the sponge was hard it was disgusting we couldn't eat it we walked up to a young very nice lady and asked to pay we told her all about it again she couldn't apologize enough knocked some money off the bill and offered us a bottle of prosecco we said no thanks and paid her £40 i wished they done the breakfast on the evening
Absolutely appalling, please please do your research and don't believe everything you see on social media. Stayed in LP Suite on a friend's hen do and it was abysmal, mould everywhere, all the rooms leaking. The bride had a shower on the first morning which proceeded to waterfall into the room below. Belongings ruined, terrible customer service and completely fobbed off by the 'customer care team' who wanted us to sign an NDA before approving a refund. There was also no acceptable attempt to fix our issues during our stay despite several trips to reception. After speaking to other people who went there is no doubt in my mind we would have never received that refund even if we had signed the NDA. I don't have one good thing to say about this hotel and their disgraceful business practices.
