Horrible company. They will upgrade servers without notifying you of server changes, causing your site to crash. They will literally remove libraries on their server without notice, causing your site to crash. They do not care if they do this and the hard it causes to you and your sites. You should look ANY where else other than Site5 for hosting.
Duncan CowleYes, I am very much interested in filing a lawsuit but have no clue where to start. My webmaster has tried to reason with them although at an early stage I told him they sound very dodgy. They charged me 150 USD and then uploaded some spam porn site on my domain and needless to say they do not communicate back. It is a declaration of WAR !!!
Site 5 hosted my website for over 20 years and I never had a problem with them. I decide to retire this year and I planned to cancel my subscription before the renewal date. Unfortunately, they charged my credit card for another year 15 days before the end of the subscription and would not credit my card. They claim that their policy was to charge renewals 15 days before the end of the subscription. Now I'm stuck paying for a year of service I don't want or need.
I am joining the chorus here to warn users away from Site 5. I hosted my website with them for a number of years but since they were taken over by a conglomerate, the service went downhill and the prices in the opposite direction. It was no longer easy to manage the account online. I even needed staff assistance to stop auto-payments on my credit card, From reading other reviews, thank goodness I did. The support staff essentially suddenly became clueless (replaced?) Making minor adjustments could take 2 hours of explanations to newbies. Just today I received a reminder from Site 5 to pay my renewal, when I cancelled my account and moved to another host 3 weeks ago.I would like to note that the large company which presently owns Site 5 which is listed as Web.com under the 'Brands' is Newfold Digital > (first owned by EIG which became Newfold as far as I can see)Other web related companies (seemingly) owned by them;Blue hostNetwork SolutionsHost GatorRegisterDomain - Crazy domainsMark monitorReseller clubIPageBig rockSitebuilderVodienYoastYith Snap[names]Name JetFree ParkingHmmmmm
Site5 does not offer renewal notifications. Rather, they just charge you without warning after a year. In addition, they increase their prices without informing you. So you get charged and increased price after a year without warning. After several years of being charged a renewal without notice, I've had it. And the cost of my hosting has apparently gone up $30USD since last year. But I was not informed that either my account was about to be automatically renewed, and that the price had been significantly increased. And when I asked for a refund and the cancellation of my account, they refused.Seems like this is probably illegal. Perhaps someone should start a law suit. Is anyone else interested in starting a class action against these scam artists?Oh, and so everyone knows, Site5 is now owned by web.com, which you can probably assume will have the same kind of customer service.
Took my money and they refused to refund even tho I cancelled before due date . Unethical grubs.BUT I got my money back by REVERSE CHARGING my credit card -so do it if they try it on you. Ha Ha to them. They deserve their poor rating. Hope they go broke.
