These idiots...I switched over to their stupid 4G service, NEVER GOT THE $$$ CREDIT WE WERE OFFERED ON THE WEBSITE FOR STAYING WITH THIS PHONE PROVIDER. A few weeks in, my texts STOPPED SENDING TO ALL CONTACTS. Tried everything to get it to sync up as it showed them being sent with timestamps on my end. 3 different calls to customer service, all over 30 mins of them trying to trouble shoot (it took me 3 days to even get ahold of a customer service rep as "we are experiencing higher than usual call volume" and "call back later" no matter WHAT time of day you call), a BOOKED appointment by one of their service people, an indian woman, confirmed that they would be calling me within 24 hours to fix this so I can use my phone again, I pay $50 a month for this, which is higher than anyone I know who pays for a phone...NO ONE HAS CALLED ME YET TO FIX THIS, WITH A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT NOT HAPPENING 3 DAYS AGO. I waited ALL day at my house for this call. My plan is set to expire in 3 days, I intuitively got the Lucky mobile sim sent to me at the beginning of this nightmare switch from 3G to 4G as could never pay online to top up my phone, always had to trek on down to the only 711 in a valley with 70 thousand people in it... so I WILL end the Speakout "service" aka SCAM and be moving on to Lucky. NEVER get a Speakout phone plan. THEY ARE A SCAM and I predict them shutting down sooner than later.
A few years ago I bought a 7 eleven speakout SIM card, which I top up online; no plan, pay-per-use. This is for a mobile phone that I only use for in-town driving, to make infrequent urgent calls (lost: directions, flat tire: tow-truck, etc.). When I went to top-up my account online, which must be done yearly to keep rollover account money and phone number from expiring, all these things occurred:1) my account, which should have about $50 in it, was at zero. 2) when I correctly (and repeatedly) entered all my information, including bank card confirmation, an error message prompted me to call.3) Several calls over two days to their customer service number from both my home phone and mobile, and their 611 mobile number, resulted in a long automated message that hangs up after redirecting to a auto message that says they are "busy, call back later," no matter what department extension number I entered. The *711# to check account balance would also hang up on me.4) I left several emails explaining the problem, using their online email form, without a single response, despite the message that promises a reply after submitting that email.7 eleven speakout offers a cheap service initially, but beware, lest you also be robbed of your account, money and phone number by bad, automated "customer service" as described above. Problems cannot be resolved without real people. Moving forward, I plan to pay significantly more to another mobile company, who has proven good customer service by real people: T-Mobile Prepaid Department $10 month for 2gig data using their Franklin wifi hotspot box, paired with iPlum, a VoIP app. This is what I've done for international traveling, and I'll try using it locally now, as well.
at speakouts request changed over to lucky mobile, ported my old # over and my account marked expired. but they continued to charge me, impossible to get through on phone and emails are unanswered. had to go through credit card co to get payments blocked! they are horrible to deal with and very close to being fraudulent ,, STAY AWAY
This company is an absolute mess. I’ve been trying to contact them for three days just for an automated woman to pop up, saying that their call centre has “ higher than normal call volumes”, for 3 days straight! It’s obvious to me they don’t have the manpower to answer phones if they even have an active call centre at the moment or anybody working in one! lol needless to say, I will be sticking with my current cell phone provider!
They have a website for account access, which is nice enough. However, it appears that the website allowed me to load money onto an invalid SIM/phone number. This would be fine if it were possible to reach customer support to ask them to reverse the charges. However, dialing customer support across two different days consistently results in a message saying "we are experiencing high call volumes", after which their support line hangs-up (ie, not even the option to wait in a queue). This, combined with other observations trying to contact them, leaves me with a summary of: very poor customer service.
I got the speakout number just to get confirmation codes sent to my phone. It's a scam. I genuinely haven't used the phone for anything in the last 3 months, and $20 was taken out of my prepaid credit in that time. There's also no communication on what these 'expenses' are, as I'm not using phone, text, or data. Don't recommend. There's a lot of other scams they run in the fine print of the contract you agree to as well
Famous as a rip off for the poor. They charge for both incoming and out going text and calls. They have errors in their billing, money just disappears. I tried to use their "data plan" and although +$10 for 100MB is a rip off, they were not even able to get it working on three different phones. They said we will not help you you must contact the manufacturer. You ever trided to call a phone manufacturer, impossible? There is one thing this firm is good for, if you have an old phone and you just want to leave it in a place like a car or boat, the minutes don't expire for a year. So useful for emergency calls.
