This website/service saves me tons of hours making subs for my online training videos. Love the way its works. Lots of preset subs and possibilities for making your own. Besides that, tons of B-roll material available for making better videos.
Technically, the tool delivers exactly what it promises. The dictation accuracy is impressive, even with scientific jargon and speakers with distinctive accents. I also appreciate the variety of subtitle styles and the ability to customise them to my needs. It would be great, though, if all features were accessible across all paid plans (hopefully not too much to ask! 😄).As for customer support, I had two main interactions—once when the system was down and another when I inquired about the different packages. Delton was extremely helpful and transparent, giving straight-to-the-point answers without any runaround. He resolved my issue swiftly and professionally. Kudos to Delton!
I was pumped to try Submagic. The free trial lasted about as long as it takes to make a cup of coffee, because they put the features I wanted to test behind a pay wall. So I hit “buy” and oops, clicked the wrong annual plan. No biggie, right? I paid for the correct monthly plan a minute later and asked support to swap the first charge or just refund it.Here’s what happened next:Friendly “We’ll forward this to accounts!” email. Cool.Radio silence.Follow-up: “We don’t do refunds. Ever. You already used the trial.” (Total trial time for me: maybe 20 minutes.)Link to a refund policy hidden in the fine print I never agreed to on sign-up.So in under 24 hours I owned two plans I didn’t want, zero flexibility, and a canned apology. Submagic may sell “magic,” but their customer-care playbook is pure vanishing act.Pros? The rep used nice emojis.Cons? Everything else: no clear refund notice at checkout, no grace period, no real conversation about fixing a brand-new customer’s mistake nor refunding and hiding refund policy that says: "Please, keep in mind that you accepted this policy in the GCU (General Conditions of Use) section when you created your account🙏" but trust me you'll not find it whicle creating your account. If you’re thinking of subscribing, double-check the plan and kiss that money goodbye if you mis-click. My advice: spend your cash with a company that remembers software is service, not a trapdoor or a digital product that I get to keep to warrant a no refund policy.Lesson learned: read every policy (even the invisible ones that I didn't agree on somehow) and support businesses that treat first-timers like future fans, not sunk costs.Update:Stefen commented on this review, and I've been following up with them as requested for 4 days now and been left on read every single day with just an auto response. It's also been 5 days since a human told me "Thanks for letting me know!Let me check this with my team! I'll get back to you soon! Thanks for your understandingI'd like to find a solution for you as quickly as possible"
If you need access to caption services often, this is not a good choice. The website is often down for days at a time, with no clear indication of when it'll be accessible again. Several glitches happen between how you caption your videos in the browser to how they export. Since the website is often down, you might try to reach out to support via email. The AI email response will send you to the website's chat. If the chat is up, you'll be sent back to email. They don't care about customers, just churning that AI income. Best of luck! I'd suggest a cheaper option over $30-$50/mo. My subscription was $50, but I see it's been lowered to about $30. Still not worth it!I needed a reliable service and couldn’t access it so I decided I wanted to cancel. Unfortunately I couldn’t cancel because the site was down for 4 days and by the time it was back up, it was too late. I emailed support, talked the chat box and they didn’t care. They even denied my refund request on PayPal and PayPal won’t help because it’s a digital service and there’s no proof of cancellation via receipt. If you use PayPal to pay for this service, you can cancel through PayPal, which unfortunately I hadn’t thought of because I was so frustrated about the site being down for days before my renewal. I uploaded screenshots of my issues and neither party cared. They offered me a free month, rather than addressing the real issue. I’ll never use this service again. This system is broken and all they care about is maximizing profits.UPDATE: After leaving this review, I noticed Submagic has been telling people to reach out via email for a refund. That’s funny because when I emailed them, they told me refunds aren’t handled over email and pushed me back to the chat, which wasn’t even working half the time, and eventually pushed me back to the email support. Email support said they don’t give refunds. That kind of back and forth pretty much sums up the whole experience. Everything seems broken right when you need it to work.
it is easily the best tool in the market for subtitles. Reduced my editing time of creating subtitles by 80 mins , previously it took 90 mins to finish my subtitles now it takes 10mins with exactly the way I want my subtitles to look. Great product by team Submagic.
