Review Time
My broadband with 4th utility has started today. Engineer turned up within the timeframe and all seemed to be well. When he was finished he commented that he should do a speed test, then decided this was not necessary and left. After he left I realised that the green lights on the box had gone off. I attempted to connect my devices and nothing would stay connected, the lights would be on, then off, then all flash. I called customer services and waited over 20 minutes to be connected. Eventually got through to Olu who was very helpful although ultimately unable to fix the connection during the call, after almost an hour I had to end the call to attend a work meeting. He gave me advice about steps to try later.After work I unplugged the router and ONT as advised and realised that the engineer had used a different plug to the one that came with the router, he had used one that I had unplugged this morning from an old router. I swapped this with the correct one and it has worked perfectly since. So feels like an afternoon wasted due to an error from the engineer and him being in a rush to leave but at least it’s working now.
I spoke with Liam tonight on WhatsApp as this is the platform they use which is actually much better than the chat rooms on like virgin media’s website as it’s easy to send screenshots etc if needed. I wanted to switch from my current provider (virgin media) as they are absolutely useless in their customer service and that is a whole other review. I went on the internet to find a good provider and deal and found 4th utility to be very competitive priced so decided to chat to someone and ask a few questions, Liam was very patient and answered all of my questions with ease and very concisely I am writing this review as I’m happy with the customer service that I received from Liam but am very aware that once signed up that they could let themselves down with their after sales but after mentioning this Liam advised that there is a 14 day policy that if I’m not happy I can cancel and won’t have to pay for any service used. I got a very good deal and was extremely happy so fingers crossed the after sales is as good as the sale service Couldn’t be much worse to be fair! Virgin media’s reviews are unbelievably bad on here and quite rightly so. Looking forward to getting my full fibre installed
I spoke to the lovely Lauren in sales and switched to 4th Utility in around half an hour from my previous ISP. She was great and handled all the questions I had before I even asked them! I could have had an engineer visit the next day to set me up (amazing) but was out, so booked in 3 days later. The whole installation was again done in under half an hour and I was up and running with an FTTP connection in no time.Lightning fast, very good coverage from the Dasan router I was supplied. So much so that I have got rid of the mesh network I used with my previous ISP to remove dead zones.I had a slight issue splitting the SSIDs to add some smart lights that only connect to 2.4GHz WiFi, but Olu in the tech department sorted it right out for me. Very good experience overall! I would highly recommend 4th Utility, for the price it's a steal. And the service so far has been flawless.
Having been a customer for a few years, every recent email I've sent them has been ignored. I've tried numerous departments, and can get no response from them. Such a shame, as the internet provision has been good. But as soon as you have a problem or a query, they don't want to know (in my experience).
