I bought the Typology Tinted Serum and Concealer.I sent in a picture; Typology recommended Fair. I got the Fair -- Irish skin kind of fair -- it's too light. Bought the Light, which is really dark, maybe Mexican or Indian skin dark. In most brands, my skin is Light to Medium.I mixed it and that is one nightmare. It does not pour from the bottle. You have to transfer it with the dispenser. Messy, slow, a chore.However, I LOVE the tinted serum. It's great for the skin. It looks like you have nothing on. I'm an older person with dry, dehydrated skin, and this is perfect. It's the only "foundation" I found that does not look like a foundation; does not settle into creases; makes you look great; and looks like you're not wearing anything.I tried the concealer in Light. Way, way to dark. So, got it in Fair. That is perfect. It's an excellent concealer.Again, the tube in comes in is crap. The concealer comes out of there without even pressing the tube.Overall, I love both, the tinted serum and concealer.I think they designed it for you to mix your perfect color, BUT they made it almost impossible to do so. If they either added colors, or changed their making it easier to mix, or come out of that tube, that would be great.
Extremely dodgy company, which I discovered is Chinese owned, hence the HORRIFIC customer service. I specifically ordered almost double the amount more for free shipping, carefully selected Free Shipping, then selected Apple Pay. I have this all with screenshot evidence. Their system then charged me shipping when processing my credit card, WITHOUT MY CONSENT, without notification. I emailed within 5 mins to alert them of their Checkout glitch, but they quickly marked my order as confirmed and then refused to rectify their mistake. NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE.
Without in store trial I purchased the color that best suited me based on the site recommendation. The colors were significantly off, and none of the lighter concealers worked for me. There's zinc powder turned my whole face cakey. And though their foundation in the correct color was delightful and their green color corrector I swear by, I have lost so much money with a foundation, two concealers and a powder that simply didn't work. This is not drugstore stuff. It's not $15 down the drain. It's hundreds. And it's a shame because I won't purchase again just based off of this experience. They are a dime a dozen and there's no reason why a big company or any company trying to get foot in the makeup world should be treating their customers.
I ordered my second round of Typology products after loving the ruby red lip oil, makeup remover, and azelaic acid serum. This time I got two more lip oils, two face cleansers, the face tint in tan, and a shampoo and scalp scrub duo - only the shampoo was never shipped (6.76 ounces) and instead a "mini" bar was sent out in its place (1.9 ounces) with no alert of the substitution made. When I emailed customer service asking for a refund since I did not receive the right product, they only offered a 30% refund. For a product I paid 100% for.Edit to amend: The shipping note was wrong - they marked that they would send out the 1.9 ounce shampoo bar in the email to me, but actually sent out the full size shampoo. However, when I sent the screenshot of this to the customer service person, I still don’t appreciate their suggested resolution. I am giving 4 stars because I still LOVE their products.
Their products are a 5-star for me. However, logistics and customer service are abysmal. I’m writing a review here out of desperation to hear from Typology. I purchased items on June 4, and there has been no progress/movement on the shipment status since then. It is June 15 today as I write this, and the order status still says “Ready for pick up”. I sent a DM on Instagram and did not receive a response. I just wrote a comment on one of the IG posts to see if I’ll get a response. Shipment should not take this long from Paris to Singapore. Lack of communication and poor logistics are usually overlooked by start-ups that suddenly scale and gain success.
