Like so many other customers, I found out that Vakkerlight’s products are essentially not returnable. The lamps we ordered to use as bedside reading lamps were not nearly bright enough.Customer service responds extremely quickly, but offers only a 20% refund and advice to sell the products yourself (as what, mood lighting? They don’t work as reading lights!). The location in Maryland is clearly just a sham.

The light fixture took a month to arrive, as apparently it is shipped via ocean cargo from China. Customer service is also based in Asia, but was responsive via email within 24 hours. The installation instructions are just a list of safety warnings and not really instructions. Bizarre as the fixture is intended to be installed in a wall. The fixture itself has some mass but I plan to test it before cutting a hole in drywall. I don’t recommend buying from this company.

Do not buy from here. Their refund and return policy is false advertising-- we had a client select an almost $3k light fixture and it came with damages from "shipping", and they only wanted to send a replacement part after it took 4 months to be delivered. This is for a custom home, and we can't wait any longer, so clients selected a different light while a processed refund and now they're having to keep a $3k because light... CS said we could sell a 3 THOUSAND dollar light locally... worst company as a builder and a designer to buy from. Go somewhere else.

Do not purchase from this company

Do not purchase from this company. It is based off in China and not the USA as they promote on their website. Following is an recent email from me to Vakkerlight trying to make a return: "Dear Support Team, I apologize but I will not be purchasing the lamp. $180 is too much after what I've spent. Unfortunately, I will not be moving forward with the lamp. It is a bit upsetting that on your website it says hassle free returns and exchanges and apparently the customer has to now deal with the return. I was not aware that your company is in Asia as it is advertised in your website that you are located in the USA in Baltimore, MD. If I would had known I would not had purchased anything and not because it comes from China, but your return policy is not up to USA standards." This was the email sent to the company. Again, do not get yourselves involve with Vakkerlight.

Of I could give zero stars I would. Beautiful website and products, but the service is TRASH. They display misleading and deceptive product and shipping estimates and don't care when it takes several months for items to arrive. They also make returns impossible when items arrive with damages -- for example telling me I can have a 10% discount because my damaged lamp is still functional. This company is a scam. Avoid!!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. Egregious falsehoods regarding handling and shipping.I placed an order of almost $8000 with $1400 total for expedited shipping. ALL products were listed as "IN STOCK AND READY TO SHIP."No update regarding shipping in over three weeks. I then inquired with the company. It is a complete falsehood that they are "IN STOCK." As it turns out, these items are not even ready at the factory which appears to be in China. The items are not even in this country and they are not even completed yet, as they continue to insist over weeks that they are undergoing "quality checks." This meets no one's definition of "IN STOCK."By "expedited shipping", I expected something like expedited DHL, FedEx or other carrier. Although they have stated at different times that UPS or DHL are moving my packages, the tracking number does not appear at either and the one label that I was provided appears to be a freight company. I suspect that it is travelling by barge which again, is not anyone's definition of "expedited."My multiple requests for clear tracking information have not yielded any usable link or receipt. I suspect that this is because they are concealing that they are not using an expedited shipping method at all, in spite of my $1400 payment.I requested a refund which they first denied, then offered $200, then $700.These practices are fradulent. I'm seeking restitution from my credit card company. I haven't received anything yet and if the products are similarly disappointing, I will provide further updates.Reply: “an expectation of immediate availability” as if this is in question? That is LITERALLY the definition of “in stock.”

Misleading hassle-free returns

The website advertises 60-day hassle-free returns, but that was not my experience. Returning the item required paying a $160 shipping fee plus a restocking fee, which was not clearly disclosed upfront.For the price point, the product quality did not meet expectations, and the return process was far from hassle-free.Overall, the return policy is misleading compared to how it is presented on the website.Respond to vakkerlight.com: The options you’re proposing: either keeping the light and switching to another one while paying a $160 shipping fee, or returning it and still paying $160, do not match what you advertise on your website as a hassle-free return. This is misleading. Based on this, I’m moving forward with filing a complaint against your company with the Better Business Bureau.

Hassle Free returns

Hassle Free returns? BULL! Paid over $700 for a fan and two lights. Not what was advertised to begin with. Fan had a plastic light. They tried to call it acrylic. It was plastic! Then she complains how much they spent to ship it to me. Not my problem. Your website doesn't say your warehouse is in Asia. It says you are in Baltimore. So she offered me 15% partial refund. NEVER AGAIN!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!

We ordered a Cambridge Wooden…

We ordered a Cambridge Wooden Chandelier from Vakkerlight. When it arrived, not all of the electrical connectors were included so I had an electrician come over to install. The electrician said the light was not sturdy enough to install, and that it was unsafe to hang. He recommended we did not use it. I have reached out to the company for a refund but have not received any response. For the price, I would expect better quality and better customer service
