Having invested a considerable amount on enough volta charging leads for all the devices in my household, I noticed that some of our leads no longer functioned after 12-18 months. On contacting Volta, originally I was asked to send a video demonstrating the fault in order to help with organising replacements. Having done this, I was disgusted to discover that due to a change in T & C later, the lifetime warranty claimed at the time of purchase was effectively null and void. They did not have any stocks to replace the faulty leads and only offered a discount on the purchase of their latest model. Most manufacturers keep back a stock of previous models for this very reason. For some reason, having already invested in a cable system, I'm somewhat reluctant to invest further in their products.
I have had the same problem with the new Volta Max Cables twice now where the Tips will break, they are too fragile for normal use and the plastic inside the connector will snap, the Cable itself is too bulky and heavy for the magnets and i have had the usb c connector actually bend under either the weight or heat from charging.I recieved my Cables from the Kickstarter campaign, which all suffered from a defect with the adhesive not being applied enough to the magnets, the companies solution was to tell people to please be careful removing the Cables and if the magnet falls out to glue it back in.However, they did replace a Cable and the Tips twice for me but after the tip failed a second time i gave up and asked for a refund as the cables dont work, they wont refund me because i paid through Kickstarter and have ghosted me since, i have sent reviews on their site but they dont seem to be showing up, ive lost trust in the brand and will be going elsewhere.
Long time customer, first time reviewer. Volta charger is an innovative, dedicated, and responsive company that I have supported for nearly a decade. Initially it was their attention to small details and product quality that kept me going back for all my charging needs. Recently they have been expanding their product line and renewed their core charging cable technology. I purchased a few of the new cables and had a quality issue with one of the cables. Immediately, I went to the company discord and was able to find resources for fixing the issue myself and directions to contact customer support. After speaking with Volta's CS Rep. Kingsley, I was sent a new cable free of charge. I continue to be impressed by this company, its products, and most of all its people.
Ordering process deeply flawed and confusing, involving initially three different companies/systems. When the cables arrived, parts of the order were missing (and still are) and other parts were sent but not until I had been accused of dishonestly attempting to get "free stuff" out of them. Now I have had the cables for a little while and magnets come out of the cables, promised replacements don't happen and parts of the connector break in normal, careful use.In all, not worth the bother.Even better...the Micro USB tips ONLY CARRY POWER and NO DATA PINS ARE PRESENT.So much for universal...
I wanted to give some feedback about the cables, they work great, but I think there are some things to improve.1- I had the problem with the magnet falling out, I already glued it back on, so that’s solved.2- the cables are stiff and thick so if I had my choice for new iterations one made out of rubber so it’s flexible but still durable would be great, and if posible to make the cable thinner would be a plus.3- As seen on the picture i sanded down the usb-c conector due to being to bulky to fit o multi port chargers, at least the anker ones i have, they are now about 7mm thick so they work great, for new designs if this can be standard would be great.4- I understand that is hard to design and make it work but it would be great to make the magnetic dongle that stays on the phone to be even thinner and shorter so it doesn’t sick out as much, maybe the black plastic part of the dongle can be reduced or even removed, I had several phone cases that didn’t charge with this cable unless I cut a bigger hole on the case for the dongle and cable to fit.5- Another thing that would be nice is for the dongle to have a notch on each side so you can stick your nail and remove it easily, i struggle to take them out, i know that it includes a removal tool but i never carry it with me and would be better to be able to do it by hand.Over all, I’m really happy with the product, just wanted to give some feedback being that I really support this unique product and want it to keep improving. I’m a fan
