The process involved in purchasing the policy was straight-forward enough, using my mobile, but I am not happy about the cancellation fee as I was not advised about this at any point during the registration and purchasing procedures.
Warning - if you make a mistake on the application they will not make any changes (despite it looking like this is an option on emails and on the website). In order to postpone start date by 1 day, they had to do a refund and then deducted £10 payment for this "service". Would advise people to not make any mistakes as it will cost them.To clarify following the insurer’s reply, it was not a charge for changing the premium details, it was an admin fee to cancel the entire policy so that I could then re-book it for one day later. Think this more than proves Marmalade being unhelpful and not accepting minor changes without cost penalties point.
Looking for a quote for my son who has just passed his test. 20 year old. Google searched "new driver insurance" thinking a specialist would be reasonably priced. How wrong was I. £2600. Used compare the market and found Hastings Direct for £830 for the same cover. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
