Review Time
Changed vehicle on policy, paid difference. Then got a letter through saying they had doubled my excess cost? Without being informed that they had changed and increased other aspects of my policy. Called around 5/6 times and being told to contact the third party underwriters. Did many times to be told that Marmalade are responsible and eventually Marmalade took ownership. Spent hours discussing being passed back/fourth. Did not change excess back to what I signed up with when starting my policy and just got an email to say they wouldn't do anything. Customer service is appalling over phone, and the live chat is non responsive and doesn't work on majority of occasions. Luckily have not had to use/claim yet, but will move away regardless of cost when renew comes. Do not take the risk and choose a different provider.
I've just called to speak to Marmalade about Named Young Driver Insurance. The person I spoke to sounded uninterested and monotone the whole way through the call. I was calling for some general advice and to receive a quote for my son who will be 17 soon. The customer service was stilted and robotic with pretty much very little other than the call script offered and when I offered some feedback as to my experience at the end of the call I was swiftly cut off. Wouldn't normally write a Trustpilot review but felt the need. Poor customer service.
If I could tate zero stars I would. A faceless company who you can never get in contact with. I received several emails and txts asking me to get in contact via their chat with reference to a quirie on my new policy. I started nine chats but they either timed out or noone ever joined them . Infuriating and frustrating. I got charged a month's car insurance even though I cancelled my DD , the only way I could as couldnt cancel my policy and now they want more money. Do not touch them, its been a nightmare.
Silly money to get learner driver insurance (meaning the learner must drive with a qualified driver at all times). They advertised they can offer full new driver insurance upon passing the driving test. Inquired about this upon passing and the answer was "we cannot insure you - too high risk". No explanation, no suggestions, nothing. Terrible customer service. Nobody identifies themselves when they answer the phone - unprofessional.
The New learner policy setup is misleading as it doesn't EXPLICITLY STATE that the new learner policy MUST be on a vehicle that is NOT OWNED by the learner driver policy holder. If your thinking of taken out learner insurance for your Son or Daughter, and its for their own vehicle (perhaps they have already purchased their vehicle in preparation for passing their driving test & they are the registered V5 owner) then don't pick Marmalade as their policy isn't valid and you will incur a administrative deduction fee when they tell you the policy is cancelled. Its also important to note that you will also need your own (parent) car insurance policy on their vehicle too.. In my opinion you are better off searching for a different insurer whose learner driver policy is valid for the vehicle you darling son / daughter owns..I am sure Marmalade think this is obvious to folk when filling in their insurance quotation form however they simply mask this by not providing an option for you to nominate the person requesting the quote under the section as to who owns the vehicle.
