We originally purchased our timeshare with Westgate because of the “investment potential” our salesman told us about. NOTHING about our timeshare has any investment potential. He blatantly lied to us and pressured us into purchasing so he can make easy money. In return for this purchase, we have received NOTHING. Considering how much they are charging us and how much we have paid thus far, we expect something. We have had this timeshare for two years and have yet to stay at any of their locations. Westgate needs to SERIOUSLY reconsider their business plans and who they hire and start providing the benefits they promise before you buy.
I have owned a timeshare with Westgate for 35 years and I am finally beyond fed up. The customer service has never been good, but since I bought my last timeshare, it’s been far worse. The staff is demeaning when you decline presentations and updates. When you do go, its hours and hours of lies and misinformation. Over the years, I found that their “partnership” with Disney does not exist, it’s cheaper to stay at Westgate as a non-owner, financial obligations are never presented properly, maintenance fees rise yearly, and then some. Had I known I could never give the timeshares back, I would have walked away long ago. The salespeople will tell you anything to make a sale. Buyer beware!
Please BE AWARE of Westgate Resorts timeshare company. They lied to us and conned us into purchasing this timeshare and I can tell you this is the worst decision I have ever made by trusting them. They promised us free weeks for 2017,2018,2019 but once I tried to use that they let me know I could not use the timeshare until 2020. So they make things seem like rainbows and sunshine in the presentation but that is definitely not the case whatsoever!Again DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE!!
I strongly advise you to be cautious when dealing with Westgate Resorts. I recently had a very disappointing experience with their sales staff that used false urgency tactics to pressure me into making a purchase. The presentation lasted over six hours; it was pure torture. Despite declining the offers multiple times they would just keep pushing their lies on us. One of the most concerning issues was the lack of transparency about the cost to use the exchange company, as well as inaccurate information about the exchange program. They also lied about the resorts being private and exclusive. To be clear anyone can stay at their resorts, and it’ll be cheaper if you make reservations on Expedia or Hotels.com. I feel extremely disappointed and misled by this company, and I urge others to be cautious when considering dealing with them. Always ask for transparent and honest information about your investment, and never let yourself be pressured into making a decision. If you want Westgate to get in touch with you, just fall behind on your payments and your phone won’t stop ringing. I answered one of these calls and told them I had sent a letter of cancellation and to stop calling, They denied I ever sent a letter and were extremely ruse throughout the whole phone call. Don’t let Westgate trick you into one of their “short” presentations. They will keep you there as long as they want and will say whatever it takes to pressure you into buying into their scam timeshares.
**Consumer Warning about Westgate Resorts** Our daughter was graduating from basic training and going to Fort Eustis, Virginia for further schooling. We were searching for an affordable room to stay and found Westgate Resort in Williamsburg. They were offering a room for $100 per night. When we arrived at the resort, we were told the $100 price was only for guests who signed up for a 90-minute sales seminar. Otherwise, the price was over $300. Just a deceptive marketing ploy to force people to attend a high-pressure timeshare sales event. 90 minutes turned out to be over 7 hours! They promised us no more than 90 minutes but blocked us from leaving. We tried to call our daughter, but the salesman told us she would have to sit through the meeting if she arrives. We were tired and hungry, yet they continued to pressure us and keep us there until we signed a contract. We told all the sales staff we were not interested in purchasing a timeshare and we were forced to attend to get the $100 room price discount. After several price drops and 7 hours off constant pressure, we finally folded and purchased. Only after they offered us Disney vacations and made us believe we were buying property. We later learned this was not true. They were completely dishonest with us. Westgate is just an OVERPRICED HOTEL! We are now stuck with monthly payments and annual maintenance fees for a worthless hotel room we don’t need. Westgate doesn’t care about military families and profit by selling predatory timeshare contracts.
If you are reading this, please do not make the mistake my husband and I did. We signed up with Westgate under the premise that we were investing in a vacation property that would bring us rental income. Had we known the truth, there is no way we would have made the choice we did. It didn’t help that when we said no, the staff got pushier every time and kept dropping the price to entice us. Eventually we agreed to $9,000. For that price, it made sense to vacation around the world AND have extra income. We signed a contract in less than 20 minutes, because we were not given the chance to view each document. I believe this was done purposely so we wouldn’t discover that we were being sold on false promises. I have tried to contact the company about this and no one has answered thus far.
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM WESTGATE!! Everything they say and do is intentionally calculated to deceive you, and you won’t ever get any of the benefits they promise during the sales presentation. They’ll keep you in the sales rooms all day! You can tell them you can’t afford it, and they’ll work some accounting magic to make the numbers appear that it’s doable. It’s a bait and switch scheme for sure. We’ve paid over $10,000 and have NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THIS A SINGLE TIME. How is this the best way to vacation? SAVE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE and use it for an actual vacation!
Do yourself a favor and steer clear from Westgate. This is easily the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Their sales staff is made up of tricksters that only care about making a buck. I had been an owner for quite a while and tried to remove my ex-husbands name from my contract but was duped into an upgrade instead. The lies I was told included: I would get more room for my children to vacation with me. Rental income to cover maintenance fees. Investing in real estate. Access to discounted cruises. Easy reservations.ALL LIES! There is no “income”, I’m only throwing money away. I don’t have access to any more space than before. Timeshares are NOTHING like real estate…no value = nothing to invest in. I have never been able to get a cruise. Worst of all, reservations are a nightmare. I work in healthcare and have never been able to find anything to accommodate my needs. What a waste of time and money!
Westgate is the most fraudulent company I’ve ever encountered!! They kept us cooped up in the Sales room all day when it was supposed to be just a 1-hour meeting. I was over 60 at the time of presentation and feel like Westgate used that to manipulate me into signing. They use anything and everything against you and force your hand to sign. This “Investment” has cost me so much money, and for nothing. I can’t use it when I want, can’t go where I want. I’m better off going to one of those travel sites, like Priceline.com or something. Now I’m in a Contract that’s such a hassle, and burden!! DO NOT GET SUCKERED into this elder abuse scheme!
