Review Time
We were so excited for the opportunity to take a low-cost vacation with Westgate. We were told the property would increase in value, be easy to resell, we could pass the property deed on to our children after we pass, yearly maintenance fees would be low, and we would even receive a free membership to Westgate Cruise and Travel so we could use our points towards cruises. On a return trip, they had us sit through another presentation which was advertised as a new owner orientation, but it was just another sales presentation. This time they convinced us to upgrade so we could get better rooms and availability. Unfortunately, ALL of these are false, and Westgate had lied to our faces during both sales. We feel like we were manipulated and taken advantage of.
Westgate is the best scammer and stealer of them all. I did a name change transfer to another person and they did not remove my card from the file. charingin me their HOA and stealing my money. When I dispute it with the bank West gate send in old and false information so that they continue to get me money! What a scam and pain in the ass.
During a timeshare presentation, we were initially offered a gift in exchange for 90 minutes of our time, which ultimately stretched into a protracted 5-hour session marked by intense pressure and manipulation. Notably, our driver's licenses were temporarily confiscated, with the commitment of their return upon the presentation's conclusion, raising immediate concerns. Deceptive claims played a pivotal role in persuading our purchase, including promises of rental income, tax advantages, and discounted Disney tickets, none of which materialized. The exclusivity of resorts for owners was misrepresented, as we discovered that non-owners secured similar accommodations online for significantly less. A mandatory meeting a year later offered no respite, as a sales representative falsely assured us that we could downgrade our package. Instead, the new contract inflated costs and nearly doubled maintenance fees. The lack of an opportunity to review the new terms before signing on a tablet compounded our unease, and the promised contract delivery was not fulfilled. Despite repeated efforts, these documents remained elusive. A particularly troubling incident involved a representative's scribbled numbers on a piece of paper, which did not align with our contract, underscoring a disconcerting level of dishonesty. The accommodations we were shown during the tours bore little resemblance to the outdated, subpar rooms we received. Promised benefits like a nearby beach were misleading, as we encountered an off-limits, neglected area overrun by weeds.
DO NOT get their timeshare!! I was successfully able to get out of this horrible scam after reviewing the details of the contract and seeing the 10 day time period to cancel. Please do not get this worthless piece of trash. HOA Fees will continue to go up, and you are never guaranteed availability. See the other reviews! Take a look at your contract and state approved time of rescission and write a letter to the address in the contract to get your deposit back. From start to finish, westgate has been a headache and the presentation that was supposed to last for 1.5 hours ended up being 4 hours long!! Every time I tried to leave, there was even more sales pitches and more people to speak with and I missed an important scheduled event. Just run away > NO NO NO!
We have been participating in various activities associated with Westgate for 16 years, unfortunately we were not fully aware of Westgate’s destructive and manipulative sales practices. Upsell, bait, more points, and repeat cycle. You will always need more points because they are selling a “dream world” that simply does not exist. The salespeople’s tactics feel like they have been indoctrinated into a gypsy operated business. To be clear, Westgate is riddled with pushy, deceitful, and disrespectful salespeople. They lie about costs, amenities, and most importantly your RIGHT TO CANCEL by omitting those facts that are determined by State LAW. If you cannot tell, we had figured this out after they locked us in to “unbreakable” contracts that we are determined will be not become a burden passed on to our children.Westgate’s ravenousness appetite for money is in lockstep with unethical sales practices, make no mistake. I am now in my mid 70’s and just “woke up” to their predatory and deceitful practices. Our children have ZERO desire to be associated with our decisions regarding Westgate. When someone at Westgate tries to sell you on how your family will benefit from their timeshare; trust us, your family’s inheritance is at risk!
We walked into room and noticed frame around kitchen window was hanging down in front of window, walked in bath room and toilet tissue holder was just hanging and walked in other bathroom and it was same way. Went into kitchen and light was out over sink. Called office and was told a maintenance man would be over to repair it. It has been about 2 hrs. And still haven't seen him. I do wonder why our maintenance fees continue to go up for a 7 day stay. 1259.00 this year.
Far away from them. $200 cash sounds good, but you can never use it unless you hold for at least 30 min to talk to someone. Remember, after you talk to them, your card will be only active for a day and one transaction. I am so glad I did not buy their timeshare. Think about what you could get.
