STAY FAR AWAY from Westgate Resorts

STAY FAR AWAY from Westgate Resorts! In 2018, my sisters and I were on a Disney vacation in Orlando when we came across a booth offering free tickets to the park in exchange for attending a 1-hour timeshare presentation. We thought its worth sitting through the presentation for free tickets but had no interest in purchasing a timeshare. The salesperson we met explained they were building a new resort directly across the street from Disney World, but we would be touring another location identical to the new property. Directly across the street from Disney World was interesting to us, so we decided to proceed. At the presentation, we turned down several offers that were way too expensive but after turning down many offers, we finally agreed to make a purchase. We thought that with the cost split 3 ways, it would be affordable and valuable. They gave us an interest rate of 17.99% but said we could refinance with our own bank at a lower rate. A year later, we learned that there was not a new resort across from Disney, we could not refinance the loan, and they would not honor their promise to take back the unit if we no longer wanted to be owners. We are now stuck with this overpriced timeshare that is nowhere near the Disney properties! They lied to us and sold us an expensive timeshare we cannot afford or need. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM WESTGATE RESORTS!

Worst experience of our life

We were pretty much held hostage at a Westgate timeshare meeting. While we were visiting a theme park in Orlando, we were stopped by a Westgate representative who offered us two free passes to any Disney theme park. He said we just needed to attend a QUICK “no strings attached” timeshare presentation. If we would have known that 9 HOURS was quick to them, we would not have gone. Throughout the presentation we tried to leave but they had threatened to take away the free gifts they offered us. We had told them we were not interested 8 different times, yet they still pushed us. They claimed there would be lots of availability to book and the value of the timeshare would increase. This was not true. The value does not increase, but the fees do. It is also impossible to book with them. They had lied to our faces the entire time. The true costs of owning a timeshare was NEVER disclosed to us. They were lying to us straight out of the gate especially about their buyback program. Why tell us about something that does not exist? Not a single seller was honest about this product. We have had this timeshare with Westgate for FIVE YEARS and have used it about ZERO TIMES due to lack of availability!! We are EXTREMELY upset with Westgate and thought we should warn people about them.

This is a total scam

This is a total scam! We thought we bought 8 days/7 nights and paid extra to book during peak season. When we called to book the vacation, we were told that we had 5 days/4 nights only. The guy who sold us the 8 days is not answering my emails nor is his supervisor. After arguing with everyone there was to speak with, we did not get our 8 days! We tried to book the 5 days, but they did not have any openings for the dates we wanted. We called back and tried to book another date for the next summer. We were told that we cannot book more than 11 months in advance. We called back and tried to book another date (5 months out) - no openings! Needless to say, they are a total ripoff. Trying now to get our money back. I've been on hold for more than 15 minutes. No one will give me their information (employee ID). Can't get a supervisor to speak with me. The lady I spoke with was very nice, she put us on a "priority waiting list" for the dates we requested. Guess I'm not getting my money back! I can't believe we fell for this BS! DO NOT use this company!

Westgate Resort Problems

With Westgate timeshares the headaches, outweigh the benefits. I can’t stress enough how much I regret ever getting involved with Westgate. The cost is completely obnoxious and unrealistic, there’s practically zero value in having a timeshare with all the other options online now. 17.99% interest rates??? How about lying and saying that you can rent out your timeshare to generate income?? Access to Disney as a Westgate timeshare owner?? All Lies. They intentionally make up whatever comes to mind to trick you into buying their lousy timeshares. Westgate is a perfect example of “if it sounds too good to be true, it is” and sadly they don’t care. I have made the management team aware of the scam their salespeople are pulling, but they don’t care. All Westgate cares about is MONEY and they get away with it because of the contracts they coerce their customers to sign. They will offer you tons of “free” things to persuade you because in the end you end up paying significantly more. It’s the scam of the century, classic white-collar crime! Don’t go to their seminars, don’t trust anything Westgate says. Look at what others are saying about them, this is obviously a nation-wide scam. They offered ZERO compassion for us during covid, and we kept paying a monthly payment of $336.11 for absolutely NOTHING. Not worth it. Westgate is a scam!

We got a timeshare several years ago in…

We got a timeshare several years ago in Myrtle Beach and we have seen nothing but wasted money. It is not an investment but a never ending bill. Maintenance fees keep going up an we have never used it, it is very difficult to find weeks to accommodate us. And we have been asked to rent our weeks out but that to will cost us money to do. I don't want my children to absorb these bills. It has been nothing but a stressful situation fir my family I have tried reaching out to Westgate to get out an they just give you the run around. My family just really want to get out of this miserable situation

My encounter with Westgate Resorts was…

My encounter with Westgate Resorts was a profound disappointment, exposing their deceptive practices and lack of transparency. Here's a warning to those considering purchasing a timeshare with them.Westgate Resorts failed to disclose the resort's lack of resale value, leaving me trapped in a financial black hole. They cunningly pitched it as an investment opportunity, only for me to discover it was a mirage, devoid of returns. The resort's promise of exclusivity was shattered by overcrowding and a struggle to secure reservations. I was misled into believing it was a private sanctuary, but it turned out to be a nightmare of limited availability and exhausting booking procedures.Worse still, Westgate Resorts concealed the fact that my kids may inherit the contractual obligations. As a US Veteran, I want to provide for my family not burden them with financial commitments. This lack of transparency is both unfair and unethical.I was denied the right to a recission or cancellation period, leaving me trapped in a regrettable decision with no way out. Westgate Resorts is clearly a company built on deception, offering false investment promises, overcrowded facilities, undisclosed inheritance obligations, and high-pressure sales tactics. Stay away from Westgate Resorts unless you want to be trapped in a web of financial burdens and betrayal.

Not worth it!!!!

Not that my review matters at this point with their one star already. Tour is promised at two hours but you wait in line for an hour before they pull you three hours later you’re finally done then when you go to check out your Visa gift cards that were promised to you for taking the tour instead of the Disney passes. they don’t know what you’re talking about and then they make you wait even longer to honor what was promised for taking the tour by telling us that they have to listen to our entire phone conversation to validate that we were promised vouchers and stead of Disney park passes so after 3.5 hours we’re sitting there waiting and we gave up and we left with nothing. Never to Westgate ever again nor will we be referring them out.

Criminal crooks Thought we was getting a really good deal was told we had three years to take the five vacations we paid $300 down out of the 1295. Found out a couple weeks ago that four of them had to be taken in 18 months that’s not what I was told when I got them you have 10 days to cancel this was done in April so therefore they say they can’t cancel it I am not making my other payments and they will not refund my money so don’t do it I told them they are gonna get nasty reviews because they’re not willing to refund my money

STAY AWAY FROM WESTGATE RESORTS

As a former-Marine, I wish I had been better prepared for the war that that has ensued with Westgate Resorts. There is zero integrity at Westgate Resorts, we are not confused about it either. DO NOT engage with them, do not “refer” anyone. DO NOT fall for “introductory pricing”, “getaways” or promises of “rental income”. Our salesman stayed engaged just long enough to cross the line on a rescission period that was never disclosed during our time at the “presentation” of outright lies.We were grossly misled and given false information regarding Westgate’s product, services, and affiliations. 1.) They have no affiliation with Disney! 2.) “Getaways” for $399 and under for additional week stays are a fallacy for all practical purposes. 3.) Your timeshare IS NOT A real estate investment opportunity, providing a method of offsetting your mortgage payment via rental. Looking back, during the signing, they couldn't get rid of us fast enough. The Westgate employee in charge of signing, quickly flipped pages, pointed where to sign, and initial and vaguely answered questions with us, refusing to even make eye contact with us. We were not told of the Public Offering Statement. The rescission period was also skipped and at no point was the "Truth in Lending" clause ever reviewed with us. We view all this as part of the deceptive sales process by Westgate employees. They tire you out with a long, excruciating presentation and once you get to the closing, you're too worn out to really question anything and everything is so fast, you don't really have time to get your bearings straight and ask probing questions. WATCH OUT!
