Timeshare Cancellation Request- Promises Not Kept

It is high time we end our 17-year, one-sided relationship with Westgate Resorts. We now realize that we were simply easy marks for their unethical salespeople, who continued to rob us blind for several years. They will trap you in a room for hours on end and fill your head with dream vacation thoughts, but really, they are just giving you misinformation while omitting the most important FACTS. This is not a real estate investment, that can be rented or resold. You cannot refinance this loan at a bank. Your family WILL be burdened with this very high debt, low quality product which remains in perpetuity. Westgate loves that word perpetuity; it accurately describes how long the established timeline is to be ripped off in a Westgate Resorts contract. We have used our membership 8 times in 17 years; that equals approximately $6k per vacation at sub-par resorts. This has been by far the worst business-consumer relationship either of us have had to deal with in our lives, and we will no longer tolerate the financial abuse and fraud.

ONE OF THE WORST COMPANIES I'VE EVER…

ONE OF THE WORST COMPANIES I'VE EVER DEALT WITH:Westgate Resorts has honestly been nothing short of a nightmare to deal with. To start, when you sit through their timeshare presentation, you need to take everything they say with a large grain of salt. If it seems to good to be true, trust me it is! We were told by their salesman all about how great this was going to be for our family for generations to come. He even received a call from a supposed client in the middle of our meeting who he said hadn’t paid a single monthly mortgage payment and wouldn’t be paying any maintenance fees because of the money they made off of the referral program. Making sound so easy to generate income by bringing them people that they can sell timeshares to. All of this was a flat out lie. We were played by their sales rep and have been suffering the consequences ever since. If you so much as mention wanting to get out of your timeshare to them they will refuse any help to you. They even went so far as to say that they will no longer be responding to our legitimate concerns. Just completely awful customer service from top to bottom. The best thing you can do is walk away as soon as one of their representatives approaches you. Getting roped into this mess has been once of our biggest regrets and we are still trying to undo the mistake we made in signing up for this timeshare!

Exceptionally shady and deceptive

Exceptionally shady and deceptive even for the timeshare industry. You are not purchasing a particular unit or week, so you never know what you will get. Most of the time it is an outdated unit that bears little resemblance to the model unit you are shown. That's if you can book anything at the time you want at all. There are fees for everything - including simply using your week! Plan to pay an extra $189 any time you book or change anything. That is beyond all of the annual maintenance fees that are ever increasing."90 minute" presentations will last a minimum of 3 hours and likely more. Even after saying no to the high pressure tactics to make "upgrades" and changes, you are not free to go. This time the offer was to reduce our maintenance fees and taxes by moving our deed to another property. No change in our usage, just big savings for us. What a deal! What they didn't mention is that it would add a 19,000 upgrade cost to our mortgage and the "savings" would vanish after the first year. We'd just be giving them even more money. After completing everything we were told we would be doing, signing that we declined the offer and being there the full 90 minutes, they would still not let us leave. When we insisted, they sent someone else to explain that they just had a few more things and it wouldn't be more than another 45 minutes or so. We finally got very assertive that we did not want their offer and were not continuing to have sit through more high-pressure tactics, they told us we could go, but refused to give us the promised "rewards" for sitting through their presentation.

Them on the 8th of Nov u had a hrartattack called them they said it was canceled and not to worry about it then they keep harassing me and things like that. So before you buy go elsewhere cause they are a fraud and lie to you all the time.

Westgate does not care about their…

Westgate does not care about their owners or their heirs, just money, money, money! They take our payments but feel absolutely no moral obligation to them. My father and I inherited a Westgate Resort timeshare deeded in Gatlinburg from his late wife. Unknowingly, we became responsible for high interest payments and rising maintenance fees. My father passed away this April and all Westgate was concerned with was getting my name on a deed so they could hound me for the payments. I agreed to this, but they never disclosed I would have to continue paying, otherwise I would have declined. I am not able to continue with this financial burden on my own. I have reached out to the company and asked them to take back the deed and cancel my association with them. I have yet to hear from them. Stay away from WESTGATE!

I am extremely disappointed with Westgate

I am extremely disappointed with Westgate and their timeshares. My experience with their salespeople and their horrible customer service has been terrible and full of lies and gimmicks. From the get-go, I was misled about their prices until after my credit check, which revealed an unexpectedly high amount of interest that was never disclosed in person. Despite my reservations, aggressive sales tactics were used, including bringing in a manager to convince me with different payment options and added perks like cruises and partner hotels that was clearly all lies. After hours of pressure, I reluctantly agreed to buy in. However, the promised 3-night stay was very difficult to book, taking a month to confirm. When I arrived at the resort, I was blindsided by the requirement to take a property tour, which hadn't been disclosed earlier. The tour revealed pricing errors, and though initially discouraged, I was ultimately forced to reconsider the purchase. Throughout, I felt rushed and was not given the relevant information to fully understand my decisions. Important details like property taxes were glossed over during the closing process, obviously on purpose. Post-purchase, the customer service experience has been frustrating, with personalized numbers leading to generic customer service lines. This lack of transparency added to my frustration. Westgate is a well organized scam. Don’t fall for their tricks and lies, what you see at their sales meetings is not what you get. I am demanding a full refund of the payments and deposit and cancellation of the timeshare. I share my experience as a warning to others not to get involved with anything having to do with Westgate. It’s awful to see that Westgate is getting away with lying and cheating people. Look at what everyone else is saying!

Westgate Resorts is a joke and a rip…

Westgate Resorts is a joke and a rip off! “Leave a legacy” for your family, they said along with a lot of other misguiding sales techniques convincing me what a great investment it was. NOT!!! My kids are NOT interested in this “legacy”! I have paid them over $27,000 in 7 years! NEVER once did I use it! In the last 13 months, much has changed. I lost a third of my income September of 2021 and I started Chemo treatments November of 2021. I sent a letter to Westgate explaining in detail my circumstances and requesting to be released from the contract as I have NEVER USED the property and NEVER WILL!!! You would think they could at least respond! NO RESPONSE! I was financially no longer able to make payments and had to stop them. Now, they are ATTACKING my credit after 7 full years of not one missed payment until April! STILL NO RESPONSE to my letter even trying to come to an agreement on settlement. ISN’T $27,000 enough free money for them!!!

This was a rip off

This was a rip off; I agree with other owners. You buy a package, but you cannot access any benefits without paying an extra access fee each year. After you pay that fee, you may or may not get a discount. We tried to use the cruise benefit and it was higher on Westgate than 2 other sites that were free to book. The claim when I purchased the package was that hotel and cruise discounts would be large. This has proven absolutely untrue. Don't buy Westgate. I will make a complaint with the Nevada Attorney General on the deceptive sales practices.
