Buyer Beware regarding Westgate Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida. We purchased a 2-bedroom unit back in 2006. It has been nothing but pressure from the beginning to upgrade our timeshare. Since 2006 we have maybe used the TS half a dozen times. Every single time we stayed at their properties we were forced to attend these ridiculous high-pressure sales meetings. They are relentless, always trying to get us to upgrade our package. We lost a lot of our vacation time being dragged into these meetings that lasted over 3 hours each time. All our stays at the various Westgate Resorts were always met with some difficulty. They never had a two-bedroom available, and we always had to accept one-bedroom units. Often the rooms were filthy, and the beds were not comfortable or broken. We paid thousands of dollars for our timeshare, but never saw any value in it. We discovered many times the TS was much more expensive than hotel rooms. In fact, they were more expensive and far more difficult to make reservations than booking a hotel. Due to health, we are not traveling anymore. We have no use for this timeshare and our children are very worried they are being forced to take over our contract. Please reconsider wasting your time and money with a Westgate Lake Resort timeshare.
If ZERO stars were an option, that’s what they’d get. Westgate Resorts is a SCAM at the highest level! What a money pit their programs are. If you are traveling anywhere near one of their resorts; don’t be fooled by the “summons” to meetings. It is a VERY high pressure, riddled with falsehoods. We were duped into attending a sales meeting, which was held in a hostile environment. During this meeting, we refused offers FOUR times, but were passed around to a different salesperson whenever we declined an offer. We met with a total of five salespeople, and by the end of the meeting were so exhausted that we relented to the pressure. KNOW THIS…they will NOT verbally tell you the following information: in fact, they will tell you the opposite. Because they are liars and crooks. You are: - NOT buying Real Estate - NOT going to gain any value - NOT going to get fixed Maintenance fees, as they ALWAYS go up - NOT going to generate any rental income We were told that we could enjoy the timeshare for the rest of our lives, but for the past three years we have been wasting all our money paying for something that we have never even been able to use. Westgate Resorts is a company that is willing to lie to you about everything to secure their commissions!
They are lairs!They lure you in by gifts and saying they will have what you need but they don't. They told me they have resorts in certain places but they don't. There maybe a resort there but it won't be Westgate they cam only give you 20% off which you would do better with Travelocity, at least they give you 40-60% off with a flight included. They are a scam. You have to pay to use their portal when anywhere else is free. They signed my name on a contract with a false date on it. Now I have to get a lawyer and sue them. Don't do business with these people. Their representatives are very rude and will not help you.
Dealing with Westgate has to be one of the more irritating and frustrating experiences of my life. From 2020 to present, I have NOTHING good to say. The salespeople are some of the shadiest, sneakiest people in the world. Everything I was told to rope me in to buying (then upgrading) was totally false! There is an extra fee for everything, which is never spoken of until you’re blindsided by it. I was offered an ownership that included cruises, but I never got it. When I questioned it, I was told I’d have to pay an additional $61 a month ON TOP of the $150 a month I was already paying for this special ownership! When I stayed at a resort and was unhappy with the FILTHY room I was put in, I was charged $358 to change rooms! Why should I have to pay more to be in a clean place? Cleanliness should be a minimum expectation, not a $300 luxury, especially when I am an owner! On top of all of this, during an upgrade, I was told that the $10,000 I had recently paid on another contract would be applied to the new one if I just call customer service and have the payment moved. Unsurprisingly, this did not happen, and I had to open a formal complaint. FOUR months later, I was contacted and told the investigation was closed and they admitted no wrongdoing. Every time I turn around, I catch them in a new lie and I am beyond fed up!
Just walk away if Westgate Resorts ever offers you a $100.00 weekend to attend their sales presentation. Our nightmare began in 2016 when Westgate Smokey Mountain Resorts offered us a 3-day getaway to Gatlinburg while shopping at Bass Pro Shops. We were not in any financial position to purchase a timeshare and we made that clear, but they insisted “it didn’t matter” and they would help us get approved. They threw every gimmick and bogus sales pitch at us to intimidate, and pressure us into signing a contract. They told us we were going to save A LOT of money on all our future vacations and never have to book hotels again for our family. Sadly after 4 hours of constant pressure we purchased a TS and thought maybe we would enjoy the resort. They advised we could pass on the timeshare to our children for them to enjoy, but we are only passing on financial debt. We visited the resort twice and both times the experience was horrible! The reservation making was difficult, and we think the resort was renting our timeshare like a hotel room. We even tried to cancel our contract after a wildfire destroyed over 70% of the Smokey Mountain Westgate Resort and they heartlessly denied our request. Stay far away from Westgate Resorts!
My family and I went to Florida to destress, not to gain another reason to stress. The Westgate sales associates in Florida lied to us and bribed us into buying a timeshare. They had told us we would receive a $1500 gift card to book our next vacation, but we never received it. They kept us in the sales meeting for 3 long and excruciating hours. In the year since we purchased our timeshare, we have tried to book MORE THAN 20 TIMES and have been unsuccessful. Our salesman had told us we can EASILY rent out our timeshare as well. Since we had no luck in booking any vacations for ourselves, we decided to go down that route. We have had no luck with renting our timeshare out either. We sent Westgate an email demanding for us to be released for our contract, considering we have given them over $6,000 and received nothing in return. They have decided to ignore us. On their website they say, “Timeshare vacations (sometimes called fractional ownership) ensures you can take a great vacation every single year!”. Just one more lie they are telling their customers.
On our way down I was checking reviews and they all were so bad. I’m here to tell you the rooms are like brand new. The rooms bathrooms were super clean. Me and my daughter are super picky and we give it a 10/10. Thank you Westgate for a perfect stay and always delivering what ever we needed.
This company is a lie Westgate is a completely lie, my fiancé David Sebastian Giraldo and his friend Victor Angel Bermudez were cheated with this company they sell you a magnificent idea about vacations but that’s a LIE they just take your money and if you want to use it you have to pay an extra money so it doesn’t help to save money and once you’re in you can’t get out because it could affect your credit and they don’t let you negotiate with them you will LOST your money be careful !!! And the service is really bad they never resolve your problems
We have been back and forth with Westgate now almost 2 years and this has been one of the most stressful times in my life. Why does Westgate feel the need to treat us like trash? Those employed by Westgate as a whole have to be aware of how the mistreatment that takes place within the company effects the public. Westgate is trying to keep us trapped in a timeshare that is first off WAY overpriced. I've seen similar properties sell for pennies to the dollar on the internet and yet Westgate still thinks they are helping families out. I'm not sure if you are aware of the reviews placed in Wesgate's behalf. I'd give those a look and then re-question the people you are working for.So after a year of back and forth bullcrap, we were offered a "voluntary deed back", so we thought Westgate actually had some decency. Well, we were sadly mistaken... Now Westgate had backtracked on that. What in the world are we to do? Westgate is acting like a dictator in this situation. Westgate is giving us no other options. How is that fair for us? How do you expect people to want to continue business with a company that does not care for it's paying customers well being? Please, we are genuinely curious as to the answer because the treatment we are receiving is outright WRONG. Westgate needs to realize the situation and stain they have put on our family. My girlfriend and I are proud, hard-working people, so we are especially disappointed by Westgate’s willingness to take advantage of us. Their dirty schemes have cost us over $5,000 of our hard-earned money in just one year, but not a single promise was delivered on.The presentation was far longer than the hour we were told it would be and we had no choice but to stay because the employees took out driver’s licenses. The entire time was spent with them persistently offering us deals no matter how many times we declined. Several salespeople were rotated in, and out- 5 total by the time we finally surrendered. Everything they said was inaccurate. We were never getting real estate like they claimed. We can’t rent the points for extra money, or stay at Disney, or pass this to our kids without them inheriting the huge debt too! They had no problem spending 3+ hours feeding us lies, but FLEW through the contract, not giving us time to look over anything. I’m positive that this was intentional so we could not catch any of their lies. We want to give the timeshare back but have not had any luck. Maybe they’ll care of it when we stop giving them our money!
