It's been 4 months now on a warranty…

It's been 4 months now on a warranty claim to replace a window sash that failed. Warranties are great if the company offering them backs them up in a timely manner. I've chased and chased Champion and to date, still have no idea if the window sash has been produced or where it is.

Champion of South Bend

Corporate info about local Champion didn't synch, was told I could drop off my screen door to be fixed. No one was there door was locked, it was 3:30 and it was supposed to be open to 5.Update: corporate customer service reached out and apologized. The office should have times posted. If they are closed at 3pm makes extremely difficult for the working person. I was off work and was the only way I could drop off 2 days later.

Mistakes and no communication

We started working with Champion in May of 2025. We ordered several windows and doors. After 2 different measurement appointments we made it to installation day for our windows. 4 of the windows were the wrong size. 2 of them where not up to code. We were assured this issue would be addressed. After a third measurement appointment. We were told that when our windows were installed no caulk was put around the outside to seal them. We were told that issue would be addressed as well. It is now September. We still do not have our doors from the original order. The 4 windows that were wrong have not been replaced. The framing on the outside of the windows remains uncaulked allowing water in around the sides. I have attempted to reach out to champion repeatedly with little to no success. Communication with our local team has been almost non-existent. Working with champion has been a mistake and I would advise others to look elsewhere.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. Today 9/6/25, I had a very disappointing experience with Champion Windows. Sales rep Steve was invited into my home where he promised me a 7.99% rate for 180 months based on my 756 credit score. I even asked how did I get such low rate, he told me because with my credit score I was considered a prime borrower. But after signing an electronic “applicant acknowledgment” form, I was suddenly presented with financing paperwork at 13.99% for 120 months. Not to mention, this caused a hard credit inquiry.Because he collected my SSN, driver’s license, and personal information under false pretenses, I totally freaked out and was forced to place a security freeze with all three credit bureaus just to protect myself. Not to mention my anxiety is through the roof now.He apologized for misleading me while walking out the door but admitted, “I’m a sales guy.” He reminded me of the scorpion-frog fable. The dude is 67 years old, I expected honesty and integrity — instead, I was misled and pressured. He also knew I am a veteran, and still chose to take advantage of me, or so he thought. On top of that, I was misled about Champion’s sunroom services. When I first called, the office rep (Tara) told me that Champion is not building sunroom in Florida until October. But during the in-home visit, the sales rep said Champion doesn’t even build roofs — meaning they can’t build a sunroom unless a separate contractor builds the roof first. That is not what I was told when scheduling.I walked away from it, but not before my credit was already impacted and almost 3 hours of my Saturday totally wasted. If you’re considering sunrooms or financing with Champion, be very cautious and read every detail before signing anything (or just avoid them altogether) Transparency should come first, but in my case, it did not.

Awful customer service

While I like the overall appearance and quality of the actual windows themselves, I have had numerous customer service related issues including:-Initial error while providing me my quote which I signed...........despite the salesman checking with a supervisor, it was written up incorrectly and my bay window couldn't be replaced as they quoted me and came back with a higher price which I refused to accept because it was their error. It was resolved but with a lot of time and effort on my part to find regional supervisors who actually helped.-Work itself was relatively well done with a couple of sloppier caulking areas that I asked the installers to clean up before they left as I was inspecting my job-Fast forward to about 17 months after my windows were installed - a broken pane which is likely due to extreme weather changes/cold winter etc - sounds easy to fix right? Wrong!!!-Regarding the window repair, a service ticket was initiated late January and here it is September and it's not fixed - multitude of problems including a measuring error on the part of a tech who was here in February that was discovered in June when the tech went to install the new pane-There have been what I perceive as lies told, excuses made, lack of communication, failure to follow through and I was assured a repair today as the first appointment from 8-12 due to a work commitment and that didn't happen so once again I wait for hopefully a repair next FridayI'd sadly never recommend this company to anyone. In fact, I had a neighbor ask based on how it looks and I told him stay away from Champion!

Never Again Beware,

Never Again Beware,We started the installation of our windows and slider over a year ago, on March 2nd, 2024, and the installation is still not complete. The new windows and installers showed up and started tearing out the windows and slider, only to find out that several windows and the slider were not correct. For some reason unknown, the project manager told the installers to keep going and install the windows and sliders even though they were not correct. The project manager then told me they would order new replacements that day and swap them out when they came in. Well months later, the slider and part of the windows came in and again, the slider was wrong but it was swapped out. The windows were installed incorrectly. The installers did not have the correct materials for the windows, so they thought it would be smart to screw them together, damaging the windows in the process, so now we have to replace them, which means another order. Months, and I mean months, later I get a call saying they need to come out and inspect the project to see what needs to be ordered. Wait, didn't we order everything months ago? Champion sends someone out who goes over the install and what's wrong and says he needs to send a report. Months later they call and say they need to do another inspection for some reason; the same person comes out with the same list again and sends another report stating the same thing as the previous report. Months go by, and now everything comes in, but it's damaged and has to be reordered. My new windows have bows in the middle; the sash bows approximately 1/4" from end to middle to end and looks horrible. We can't use the slider due to the torn screen and how hard the door is to open. Windows were never sealed on the bottom, and you can feel air coming in. Champion Windows are, in my opinion a step BELOW builder's grade. I feel my house is less efficient now than with older windows. The one thing Champion Windows will be good at is collecting money even though they have not finished. Champion Windows has by far been the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I would suggest doing your homework, reading true reviews for your area, and being diligent about getting what you pay for. Good luck; you will need it.

5 months disruption & damage to our home to boot

We contracted with Champion in April 2023 for an 18'x18' sunroom addition to our home to replace a screened porch and patio of the same area. They started the work in late November 2023, and the project was riddled with problems. The greatest problem was that after Champion jack-hammered out our existing 18’x18’ cement pad, the put in the helical supports that the county mandated, and they they poured the flooring for the sunroom without getting permission from the county. So they had to then jack-hammer out another 18’x18’ cement pad so that the county could inspect the helical supports, and once approved, Champion then poured the floor for the 2nd time. The project was finally completed in April 2024 and shortly thereafter we started to notice small cracks in our tile flooring in the adjacent family room and kitchen. But then winter set in, and we experienced some very cold temperatures for this region, those small cracks really started expanding and growing in length. Once crack is now about 20’ length. We lived in this brand new house for 6.5 yrs without any flooring problems whatsoever. Champion then came in and did serious jack-hammering TWICE and then the problems with the flooring began. Champion is now trying to say that their jack-hammering had no effect on our flooring and that the house is built on soil that is somehow compromised, although there is no evidence to that effect. As of this writing, we are still trying to get Champion to agree to pay for the flooring repairs without having to take legal action, but so far it looks like the remedy will be through the courts. The angst caused to my wife during 5 months disruption to our lives while Champion built the sunroom and now this issue about the damage done by Champion to our flooring has really taken the joy out of getting the sunroom. For the premium price we paid Champion (they were the most expensive of the 4 companies we got quotes from), it turned out to be a very bad experience and if we had to do it all over again, we would not go with Champion.

Their website customer reviews dont tell the whole story

I don't know how Champion thinks there is a way to make right the problems we experienced on installation day but here goes. Our salesman (George) did a masterful job and offered what we thought was a decent price for a new front door with sidelight. We are happy with the end result. I asked George to connect me with a local customer so I could see their installation and ask them about their experience. George said no problem and he found a willing Champion customer. Problem #1: when I tried to get an appointment with this customer I got no reply. Promise but don't deliver. Problem #2: the two-man install crew spoke no English. BIG problem when it came time to communicate my concern about how they were attempting to install our expensive door by shimming it at the bottom to close the BIG gap at the top. We were finally able through the use out smart phone language translators to get the install on the right track. Problem #3: During the install I called George and Eddie (local guy I gave payment #2) to see if they could help with the install somehow. They ghosted me. I was able to get Paul (?) on the phone and he assured me that the crew was trained and capable. I wasn't convinced because of what I had seen so far. The crew finally agreed with me to attach a piece of plywood on the sill to raise the door and give it a firm base to rest on. That worked but why didn't they do that first instead of trying to make up 1/2" to 3/4" gaps all the way around with shims. Not so well trained. I've built my own home and im glad I was watching the install otherwise Im betting our new door wouldn't stay in place for very long. Problem #4: we received an email advising us our installation was scheduled to start between 0800 and 1000. We specifically asked for a start time at noon or later. I was able to get the start date confirmed for noon or later. Problem #5: the install crew arrived at 1100 and we weren't ready for them to start yet. I suggested they take lunch and return at noon. They did. At this point I admit that all the negative reviews I read online (there were more than one or two) that said that communication in and around your company was not great are true. At the beginning of this I mentioned that we are happy with the result and we are. How we got here is the rub. If anyone asks where got our door, I will tell them but they will also be given my buyer beware because of all the issues that probably shouldn't have occurred. My unsolicited advice is don't send non-English speaking installation crews out unless the homeowner speaks the same language. I hope we have no warranty issues.

Proceed with caution...poor follow-up & communication

I had all of my windows replaced by Champion. I ordered them in August 2024. The initial install was in November 2024 but some windows arrived broken or the wrong size and the the instal of those took place early this year. Two of the large windows, one in the bedroom and one in the dining room, have been tweaked, had balancers replaced and frames replaced and they still do not operate meaning those two rooms are still in limbo with the furnishings moved away and sheets hanging over them. They are double hung and they can only be partially opened or closed and only with EXTREME effort. I have contacted the local office, the regional manager and the main office trying to get someone out here to discuss options but I can't get anyone from the company to respond. This was a very expensive project and lack of communication and failure of the company to follow-up and make good on their product has spurred me to warn others of the company. The windows that work are great but having two major windows that don't operate is unacceptable. Proceed with caution if you are considering windows from Champion.

Terrible Communication

This company has several communication issues. First I had an appt for my door to be measured at 10 am. On the day of the appointment, I received a text at 930 and an email that my appt was now between Noon and 4pm. I decided I would run some errands and when went to leave the contractor was here at 10:00 to measure the door as originally scheduled. I told him that they had notified me of the change but they Never told him. He didn't remove the trim from around the door to measure properly because when the installer showed up months later with the new door and after removing the trim around the door and rechecking, he told me that the door he brought was too short. I had told and showed the salesman that the door I was replacing had extra trim inside the opening and the salesman assurred me that the new door would eliminate this, but the door that was incorrectly measured would still require this extra trim because the saleman Never mentioned this to the representative who took the measurements. The installer apologized and remeasured the door correctly and I had to wait sever weeks for Champion to remake my door and take another day off from work and of course they don't offer any form of compensation to their customers for their own mistakes, just Sorry for the inconvenience. The door was Finally installed yesterday and thankfully I had the same installer who had remeasured the door correctly and he did a Great job. Today I received both a text and an email informing me that my door had been received by my local office and I would soon be contacted to schedule an installation appointment, remember this is After my door had already been installed. I called four different phone numbers to speak to someone and after holding for almost 30 min, I left my call back number. Then coincidently I received an email asking me how I liked my experience with Champion, and that I should leave a review. These doors are not cheap, mine was $15,000, but with the measuring mistakes and the costs of sending the installer here twice with his truck (85 miles away) I can now see why their prices are much higher than local home improvement stores including the cost of installation. My neighbors really like my new front door but agreed that a company this big should have better communication with their customers and their reps should know how to measure correctly the first time.
