In September of 2020 I published two books with Xlibris. I was never allowed to see how many books sold on Amazon. There was absolutely no transparency whatsoever. I received a total of 69.00 in royalties. XIibris claimed my book wasn't selling. In January of 2022, I legally disconnected from them. They agreed to stop selling my books and pull them from all venders. In May of 2022, I published a revised edition of one of my books. Even after signing a legal agreement, they are still selling my books on Amazon, e-campus and other venders. They are selling my first book at 1/4 the price of the revised edition and competing against me. Of course I've not seen any of the royalties from the sell of these books. Amazon has stated that my books sold. Unfortunately, they cannot give me a count of how many. This is due to the fact that I need a subpoena to get the sales records. Xlibris has broken the law and gotten away with it. They are indeed a fraudulent company. They have stolen my creative intellect and damaged my reputation in the process. Because of Xlibris I can't properly market my new book on Amazon. These people should be behind bars, not in the publishing business. Justice has not been served on my behalf.
I highly recommend Xlibris to anyone who are looking forward to publishing their books. The staff is very friendly, cooperative and polite when in need of help with any issue that present itself. The work is very satisfying and of high quality.
I DECIDED WITH NOBODY TO SAY LOUDLY THAT the quality of production of my book - CRIME AGAINST REVOLUTION ---- IS SIMPLY SPLENDID! WONDERFUL JOB DONE BY XLIBRIS!!I NOT UNHAPPY!!i WILL COME AGAIN AND WILL RECOMMEND XLIBRIS AT ALL TIMES!CONGRATULATIONS WONDERFUL PEOPLE!
The hardcopy and promo materials were well done. The audiobook took a very long time, and I am still awaiting for its completion. I have heard the demo so far- I was impressed and it left me feeling excited. On the customer service end, the response time lags quite a bit. Another significant drawback in my experience is that the marketing team is extremely persistent, often against my will. But well-informed, as I could also explore my options. I would prefer if the calls begun with asking if I had time to speak, or how long I had- because they tend to steamroll the second I say 'hello'. And the sales rep can go on for awhile before I get a word in. So that is definitely something to be mindful of. It took 3-4 months for the book to get published which I thought was reasonable given all the natural disasters that were happening at the time. I also understand that processes can only start moving when they have received all the instalment payments. So far, it has been progressing slowly but surely, just have to know how far you'd want to go with the publishing options, as the marketing department can take up a lot of your time with their pitch (and that can be quite painful). Having said that, it is my first time, so the experience and exposure has been beneficial.
I had published three books with xlibris, and at first their team was great. But like most companies there are a few areas and people that need improvement (or more patience on your end) because everything is done via online or calls, a lot of the authors request and instruction get ignored or lost in the email. Some of the department are unresponsive and it can become quite frustrating when something just isn't working.
After they hassle you with phone calls to pay, no one checks up on your process with your book. If you don't pay for the marketing package no one wants to help you succeed with your book and there's late communication problems.
