Published my book (A Pleasant Stroll To Everest) in 2012. Initially good, but then aggressive tactics, one of which I was sucked in by and spent over a $1,000 on a non existent campaign. Rip off. Then within 2 years my author centre was shut down, and never received another cent in royalties, despite trying for over 10 years. (Each contact is simply with another person and the whole rip off sales campaign starts again) I know UK Book Depository sold several hundred copies, and many more via ebook and other retailers as Xlibris have my book listed everywhere. Absolute total scam artists.

Do not use Xlibris they will bleed you of thousands of dollars and not provide any commission using high-pressure sales and stressful tactics. Learn to use the package Scrivener and open a KDP account yourself, register with a publishing association to market the books and do it yourself. I have and not looked back. Brilliant. Ihave just published my second gook on Amazon, Transforming Hobby Drone for War, and it only cost me a couple of hundred dollars.
My complaint is that the book is on Amazon apparently being sold by Xlibris, but as others have stated I don’t receive a dime. Also I am trying to sell my copies on Amazon but can’t because when I go back and search for my ad, only the publisher’s copies show as available. And I don’t get the option of selling it as “new”, only “used”.
After paying US-based Xlibris £800 to publish my poetry book and despite continuous online sales, I have received £0 in promised royalties while enduring aggressive follow-up calls. I have since written four more poem books using a safer local printing house and have given the unicorns my money, who are so much more deserving. P.S. Do not feed dragons.
Rude rude pushy consultants. I enquires with them 2 years ago and ended up going elsewhere cause they were so pushy. After re visiting another website called Balboa the phone call I got back was from Xilibris not knowing they were affiliated. The consultant basically said I was costing them money because they had my name in their system for 2 years, was again pushy for me to pay upfront on the dot, and then cracked the says when I didn't want to go ahead and said they are removing my name. If this is someone you have speaking for you business or running it, this is bad. Very very bad.
I had book published for my grandmother in 2020 and haven’t received a dime for royalties. The amount of money I paid to have the book published and the typos and grammar errors that were published are embarrassing. I will find away to get out of this deal and publish my grandmother’s book on my own. Very disappointed is this publishing company.
I’m so furious. I would give zero stars if I could!! My mom had 2 books published & her recent book sold many copies but yet the Xlibris website shows 3 books sold. She knows damn well she sold many books because her friends who are fellow authors that purchased the book take a photo of themselves holding the book & post it on Facebook. We’re talking about people that are not related to us or each other, are all over the country and Xlibris had the gall to say they were family members holding up the book. NOT TRUE!! AGAIN, these people are not related to us or each other!! Some aren’t even in the same country!!!!I will be posting this ALL OVER social media and think a small class action lawsuit is in order!
I am so heartbroken while writing this, I published my book in 2014. I was young and excited, this man approached me hyped me up about my book music to my ears. I was told they would be here with me every step of the way, publishing, marketing and sales etc. After the publishing fee was paid they rhen approched me and told to pay 1000usd or 700usd to market fhr book. I had no more konwy lweft so rhey told me to self market it myself and they would guide me. If was working because I got some people to purchase the book. Fast forward to 2025 and I have not received any of what was promised. No one called to check in or explain how the royalties work. I made a decision to call and make some checks only to be mansplained y a lady that they cant force people to buy the book. She irritated my soul then she proceeded to tell me that I only made $1.27usd on the book that costed me $800usd. I feel broken this was my entire savings imagine hearing that after so many years. This is the worst company I have ever met. I regret going into business with them. If I could have put a 0 rating I would. One thing xlibris God doesn't like ugly!!!
