What started out as a great New Years Eve weekend with my wife ended up being screwed..... Everything that was planned got messed up. I booked a Condo using AIRBNB.com a week ago and everything was confirmed by HOST ( FROM THE VACATION DEPOT ). I am pleased to be able to accommodate your trip to the Ridge On Sedona, AZ Resort, studio unit!! This invoice covers everything except the following: 1.) Resort fees, plus tax (approx. $10.00 per night) 2.) Meals, incidentals, theme parks tickets, pay per use amenities, rides, attractions etc.My Best, Robin from The Vacation Depotand they took out the money out of our account. We drove 4 1/2 hours to get to Sedona, AZ Saturday morning .... only to have an email that AIRBNB.com cancelled our reservation 2 HOURS BEFORE CHECK IN..... said something about the host ( The VACATION DEPOT was out of town.....) Being a holiday weekend, everything is booked now and the only rooms available are $350-400 a night and they already took our money. This was the first and last time I will use The Vacation Depot..... I had to drive another 4 1/2 hours home ..... I saved up the money to take my wife on a nice trip and ended up being the day from HELL .. Oh yeah we will get our money back in 5 to 15 days.... Doesn't help us get us a hotel... In cancellation email was another more expensive listing from same host..., another splat in the face. calling hotels and the all all booked. no computer to spend hours trying to find a guaranteed room. I'm a diabetic and my insulin is getting warm now which makes it no good because I didn't expect to be turned away hours before..really..... I'm about to climb on a helicopter tour that I booked when I thought I had a reservation....... Find me another Condo to stay at the same price range.... don't send me more chances of a cancelled reservation at rate of $300-$400 a night.seeing my Wife's face of disappointment hurt me and just made me more angry.... we planned this trip for a while.. and instead of going with a hotel (a sure thing when rooms were available) I went through you guys..
I booked three different apartments with them in June 2017, Tuscany, and am now looking to book three in England for June 2018. All went well with the three in Tuscany. (One was fabulous, one was fine in all respects, and one was fine but the parking situation - on the street - was very problematic.) There is one thing I hate about their web site. I enter the name of a small town or village. It then shows me 20 listings ... and some are 30 or 40 miles away from where I want to stay. Given enough time on their Web site, I always manage to find one that is close enough to the preferred location, but that is so tedious. Otherwise, Airbnb is better than any other site I have found for booking an apartment instead of a hotel. More listings, more information about each one, and a quicker reply from the property owner about a question I had.One suggestion: If you decide to book in the downtown area of a city, or in a medieval town in Europe, parking can be a problem. Yes, there may be on-street parking BUT a spot may not be available, and in a medieval town in Europe, getting to the apartment can be a problem; many of the streets are closed to cars or are one way. On-site parking is definitely preferable, in my experience, and I would never again book an apartment in the heart of a medieval town.
I booked two houses on Airbnb when I traveled to Montreal and Quebec City. The hosts were nice and the places were clean. When I struggled to find my way to my residence, airbnb showed me the detailed address and helped me to contact with my host. Nice service!
I have used Airbnb multiple times with my friends but with their account since they all enjoy getting reviews in personal accounts in order to boost their trustworthiness since they are all frequent traveler. That said, this year in June 2017 I was invited to celebrate my friend's birthday at a chalet that accommodated 16 visitors. During this event, I had an accident and trip but managed to keep my balance thanks to the bed's canopy rail that I grab on to for support and unfortunately it broke. I failed to inform the host about it, but I did not deny the fact that I was the one that broke the rail and owns my action. Little did I know, the host extorts me by demanding to pay $2100.00 to replace the whole bed instead of compensating for the single piece of the bed. She then files a claim with Airbnb Resolution Center to sort this problem, and she had won the case without further investigation and have simply relied on the pictures provided by the host and a new price review base on the price of a new bed that she would purchase in order to replace the current one. Do note that 1 piece of the bed broke and it is fully functional as a bed and it does not cause the visitors to have any safety issues. I simply received a letter from the resolution team that this matter is no longer debatable and that they have made a conclusion that the bed must be replaced for $1759 CAD. I've heard and read horror stories about Airbnb experience mostly involving their host and very little about their users. From this point on, I have concluded to never support Airbnb in any way and have deleted their app. I honestly hope this review can be insightful to some of you and please beware with your host and I repeat not all host are unreasonable.
I had booked confirmed a cottage for this summer for 3 nights. I received confirmation and they had charged my full $1750 for the rental with more than a month of advance. They call me this morning to tell me the renter wants a 4-night minimum and that if I don't take the 4th night they will cancel. I said that wasn't the amount agreed upon, and booked. But they canceled my booking for not wanting to extend. This is long after I had forwarded my confirmation to my friends and family to show it was all confirmed. It's embarrassing and unprofessional. They then tell me that it will take 7 days to see the money back on my CC, which is complete nonsense for any normal, above-board organization. I will never book AirBnB again, and every time I try something shady happens, it's not worth the effort, other authorized cottage rental sites are much better. Gabrielle
same like belowBAD experience as a host.even when my guest is willing to pay a portion of the money requested.AIRBNB is not reopening the case when you call they basically just hear you and regurgitate back when you mentioned to them without doing anything. Not a single action is done.HOST INSURANCE is a dupe.CS would not advise on what to do
