Review Time
Just lost over £3,000 on a holiday to Thailand. This is absolutely disgusting. We had to cancel to one of our friends having to have a back surgery and would no longer be able to travel. This was for a special occasion for him. Airbnb and the host have declined to refund any money. There is no customer service or support. Avoid at all costs.
The listing along with the photos were nothing like what we found when we stayed at this villa, on complaining to Airbnb it what just pushed under the carpet, with them taken the side of the host, because people thats how they get paid, so be warnedI will not be using Airbnb ever again
I received a text message from AirBNB confirming a booking....a booking that I had not made. I immediately went into the App and cancelled. I then contacted customer services to understand what had happened. They just said that a booking had been made and tough. I asked them to investigate how this had happened but they refused. £127.47 charged to me for nothing. The random host gets paid for a booking that lasted 2 minutes. An unauthorised transaction...or 'glitch' should be looked into, and I should not be charged. No more business from me.
On arrival it seemed pleasant, however on closer inspection found a number of issues. All the beds 1 x double & 2 x singles mattresses were very uncomfortable, with the springs and lumps giving discomfort, even one of the single beds had missing slats under the mattress so was unusable, when we went to use the sofa beds there was a dirty sheet, and mess /crumbs in the base, so my grand daughter placed the sofa cushions on the floor for her bed. The D/bed headboard was covered in dust, all the table lamps & cooker hood had not been cleaned and were dusty. One of the kitchen unit doors next to the oven was delaminated with very sharp edges. My wife went to use the hairdryer and it went off and smelt of burning we also noted that the portable appliance testing of electrical appliance (although not a legal requirement but deemed a 'best practise') many were tested in 2021 and some like the hairdryer was not tested, the tenant was notified and responded by stating it was due in Oct.The white mugs were badly scored inside and out, the dining table chairs seats of which two were cracked/split and only three! Overall not impressed with the experience
I’ve used this platform a few times, and this time the overall experience was… mixed. The booking process itself was really straightforward - the interface is simple, pricing is shown clearly, and I appreciated that I didn’t have to deal with any hidden fees. The apartment also looked like in the photos, which isn’t always guaranteed, so that part was fine. But the real issue started with the check-in. The host was supposed to meet me at a specific time, and I arrived exactly as agreed, but there was no one there. I tried calling and messaging, and it took more than half an hour to get a reply. After a flight and dragging my suitcase around, it wasn’t the smoothest start to a trip. It also felt like the support team wasn’t really fast either - they sent me some generic replies instead of real help.In the end, I got into the apartment, and the stay itself was okay, but the first impression was already spoiled. The platform works well technically, but since so much depends on the host, the experience can vary a lot. I’ll probably use it again, but I’ll be more careful with who I book from next time.
⚠️ **WARNING: AVOID AIRBNB “VILLA JACARANDA” IN 61 RUA DOM FRANCISCO DE AVILEZ, CASCAIS, PORTUGAL**This vacation rental was a profound disappointment, with clear evidence of misrepresentation by the owner and host. Before booking, search online for ‘Rua Dom Francisco de Avilez 61 complaints’—persistent issues reported by previous renters point to a pattern of deliberate deception. Here are the key concerns:- **Misleading Photos**: The listing features heavily edited photos that fail to reveal the property’s true, substandard condition.Furthermore, the host misleadingly included a photo suggesting the property featured a clothes dryer, which was absent during our stay, adding to the pattern of deceptive advertising.Additionally, the advertised 'private pool' was, in reality, an oversized plastic kiddie pool filled with debris—highlighting yet another instance of misleading promotion.- **Unsanitary Conditions**: We faced sewage odors throughout, including bathrooms, with filthy pots, pans, and cutlery. Linens were stained and worn, starkly contradicting the advertised cleanliness and pristine images shown.- **Bathroom Issues**: The ground-floor bathroom was broken, repulsive, and unusable, with foul-smelling water from the sink. Only one functional bathroom was available for eight guests—grossly misrepresented in the listing.- **Concealed Construction Chaos**: Undisclosed construction next door (excavator, workers, debris…) which a worker confirmed was owned by the same rental company and owner (one of the mgmt team was in site regularly engaging with the construction team), unleashed relentless noise, dust from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily—a blatant omission to lure unsuspecting guests. (See attached photo of the excavator and workers digging right beside the patio, taken during our stay.)When we reported issues, the host’s hostile response and fabricated excuses (e.g., blaming us for a minor leak repair cost) expose their intent to dodge accountability. No offer of compensation, alternative accommodations or immediate action was mentioned. This breach of Airbnb’s disclosure requirements, combined with the host’s evasive tactics, jeopardizes guest experiences. We urge future renters to verify authentic reviews and unedited photos from multiple sources before considering this property.Based on our documented experience, we recommend seeking safer, more reliable options in Cascais. ⚠️ Check our photos in Google maps or Reddit.
I recently had a very disappointing experience with Airbnb. During my stay, water leaked directly from the bathroom light fixture for four days in a windowless bathroom, creating a clear risk of fire and electrocution. Despite providing evidence and reporting this immediately, Airbnb treated it as a minor “amenity issue” and offered me just €75 in compensation.Even more troubling, the host pressured me to remove my review in exchange for a refund. I refused, because I wanted to respect Airbnb’s rules and trust their process. Unfortunately, this left me worse off — Airbnb closed my case without taking the safety risk or the host’s misconduct seriously. This experience has completely undermined my trust in Airbnb’s promise to “have guests’ backs.” If safety hazards and review manipulation are brushed aside in this way, it is hard to see how guests can feel protected by the platform.
Man, the rating on Trustpilot and their stock performance over the last 5 years really speaks for itself. Company loosing it value. Per definition.Honestly, Airbnb has the best UI. But underneath the facade, the company is super ugly. Honestly, I would try to avoid them at all cost. I got blocked because one host wasn't returning my property and kept lying to me that he could not access the apartment, even though I saw the profile was being booked. I told him he will see I will go to the police. Then Airbnb just blocked me without naming any specific reason. Because they support thieves, don't hold them accountable and even support them. Emotionally immature, incompetent company.AVOID AT ALL COST.
Airbnb is showing outrageous injustice. People from Russia cannot use the service just because they live in Russia. This is pure discrimination based on nationality. Airbnb is depriving a huge group of people of the right to use its platform, to travel freely, and to choose accommodation — following double standards instead of principles of equality and accessibility.Such treatment of customers is absolutely unacceptable in the modern world. Instead of bringing people together, the platform deliberately divides them and punishes them for their origin and place of residence.Airbnb must reconsider this shameful practice, otherwise it will remain branded as a company that violates basic human rights and discriminates on the basis of nationality.
