Platform itself is easy to use but the rules that are set up make it challenging from host to host. We enjoy non hotel trips still. Costs are starting to even it though.

I booked an apartment in Mombasa, Kenya, by Hosted by Faith ,Cozy bed sitter very new clean with hot shower this is title, I advise you to stay away from it like the plague.through Airbnb for 36 days. The apartment didn't even have the necessary utensils like forks, cutlery, or anything. There was obviously never any hot water. After a week of vacation, the owner sent me a message telling me I had to vacate the room within 1 hour!Without a reasonable explanation. Scandalous. To top it all off, I can't even send a complaint email to Airbnb. But to top it all off, they charged me the second agreed-upon payment after I vacated the room over two weeks ago. This is because they offer their service to all sorts of people without even considering who wants to use their services.Terrible, it's hard to find worse. And to top it all off, they still haven't refunded me.

Unauthorised Charge & No Customer Support – Very Disappointing

I had always had good experiences with Airbnb until September 2025.I reserved this flat in Istanbul: airbnb rooms id: 1337508636119849120, you can check the flat's comments with this ID being pasted in airbnb url. I later saw that the listing already had negative reviews about blocked showers, humidity issues, and poor maintenance. On the very first day, one of the showers was already blocked. We didn’t complain because there was a second shower, and we tried to manage. After our stay, Airbnb charged us €92 without our agreement, claiming we lost a remote controller and blocked the shower. The payment was taken automatically, without any option to dispute it.As an EU resident, I know that this is not legal — a company cannot withdraw money for a contested claim without consent or evidence.I requested:- Proof that the remote was present before our arrival,- Proof that the shower was working before we checked in,- A review of the host’s previous complaints (which show similar issues),- And a refund of the unauthorized charge.I received no answer.Everything gets stuck in automated chatbots and email loops. I could not reach a real human at Airbnb.Given the lack of response, my lawyer has now sent a formal legal notice to Airbnb Ireland UC demanding:Refund of the €92,Removal of the negative internal note placed on my account,Proof of their decision process. If Airbnb does not respond, we will proceed with further legal action through the European Consumer Centre and DGCCRF.I never thought Airbnb would come to this point.Avoid — customer protection is basically nonexistent now.

Out of 6 stays

Out of 6 stays, 5 were scam hosts who ripp off and rob guests. AirBnB does exactly the same. The hosts also scam AirBnB. What happens is, some form of insurance is paid out. So, AirBnB tries to mitigate those losses by refusing refunds. The system seems to provide the correct refund, then the people in customer service aim to ensure that is not given. They won’t provide the information, they hide it and claim policies and procedures…. It’s a large fraud, fraudulent in many ways as the consumers are being well and truly scammed. It’s such a shame. Out of 6 stays, 5 fraudulent.

Absolute nightmare…

We had an absolute nightmare with the property we booked, I booked it 6 months in advance, for 13 guests, for my parent’s golden wedding anniversary, we had family from all over the country, a private chef and a £450 food shop arriving the day we were due to check in, and the host cancelled via an AirBnB message, at 7.30am on the morning we were due to check in because she had double booked the property on another website. This was despite multiple messages between the host and me in the months, weeks and days leading up to the booking in which I repeated our check dates. I left a negative review, which was published on the AirBnB page for this property, but which was subsequently taken down by AirBnB. I was given 2 reasons for it being taken down by AirBnB, (1) a prior message from me to the host in response to her cancelling my booking indicating that I would be leaving a negative review (which the host complained to AirBnB about); and (2) due to AirBnB’s policy of not allowing guests to leave reviews who (a) never arrived at their booking or (b) cancelled their booking due to reasons unrelated to the reservation. In relation to 2(a), we were told by the host that the other guests with whom she had double booked us, had checked in the night before. So we did not fall into the category of guests who never arrived, unless AirBnB considered that we should have gone to the property and attempted to check in notwithstanding there were other guests already there. In relation to 2(b) the host, not us, cancelled the booking, on 9 hours notice, leaving 13 of us, a private chef and a huge food shop, with nowhere to go. As to 1, I said in a message to the host that I would be leaving a negative review for her, I think in the circumstances this was justified, completely understandable and in any event blindingly obvious. The host’s behaviour was disgraceful, likewise AirBnB for allowing this to happen. AirBnB refused to reinstate my review. No sanctions for the host, who continues to advertise the property on AirBnB. The property is “Braunston” and sleeps 13, by the way. I would avoid it if you don’t want to be double booked. I have since cancelled my AirBnB account, the properties on AirBnB are considerably more expensive than if you go direct or use other, more reliable sites, like VRBO (who are great).

For a $2600 stay, the bed shouldn’t break.

I think for a $2600 4 night stay it shouldn’t be much to ask to rent a place with a bed that has a solid bed frame. On the second day, I sat down on the edge of the bed to put on socks and it broke. I weigh 200 lbs. the host and Airbnb are claiming I did something on purpose to cause this. This is a superhost apparently, but they should be thankful I didn’t bring on a lawsuit should I have been hurt. Beware of Airbnb and hosts that use guests as a means to pay for their cheap particle board furniture. Will never stay with Airbnb again and will certainly steer clear of super hosts in Hyde park Vermont

I am now seeking legal redress

I am now seeking legal redress. Airbnb are holding my personal data when I have withdrawn consent. Despite many attempts and emails to delete my account , they still hold my personal data. This goes against GDPR standards and it is illegal.

I recently booked with BRIAN LAMBERT in LENOIR NC and his amenities were not at all what he described. The listing says he has a stove and all he has is a hot plate! That's just one of the many lies he uses to describe this space. We also had ants throughout the entire unit for our stay and he said we brought them with us!!! of course I complained to him and he wrote a review saying I was combative and he does not recommend me to anyone else. I spent hours on the phone and did two request to remove this review and had all of the proof and pictures to support the truth and they denied the removal of the review both times that he did on me! Absolutely ridiculous because I had all of the proof! Won't be using AIRBNB again!
